Chapter 154: Business and Money
It didn't take long for Jeniael's convoy to arrive at the manor, which was located on the outskirts of the capital city of the colony, the City of Ziria. She had to admit that this place was rather unique in the aspect of the architecture, and she was fighting it rather appealing to her tastes.
Zehal liked the unique and unusual things because those were not generic and boring like everything else. Another reason, aside from resting and enjoying some free time, was that she had already finished the things for the creation of their own company that they decided together with Arcturus.
Contrarily, the staunch Bloodline Lineage Aristocrats of the Eternal Empire of the Asurya, Zehal, understood the useful Star Mercenaries and Bounty Hunters very well. Not to mention, there was another rare profession that was almost non-existent within the borders of the Imperiu, which were the Void Explorers of the Void Explorer's League.
The Void Explorer's League is another Cosmic Neutral Organization like the Star Mercenary Association, Bounty Hunter Guild, or the Cosmic Vaultbank, but this one is dedicated to exploring the depths of the endless Cosmos and Void.
The Void Explorer's League and its members were delving into the depths of the Void and searching for anything of value. Many would say that they were treasure hunters of sorts, but that was far from the truth.
The Void Explorers were mapping the Void, new galaxies and making important discoveries in the endless Cosmos. Many new Cosmic Territories were discovered by the Void Explorer's League, and the same could be said about various Dimensions that were adjacent to the Cosmos.
Zehal knew that the true value of being a member of the Void Explorer's League was access to their Star Charts, Maps, and Void Paths, which they were using to safely traverse through the Void.
Nobody has come into contact with a bigger number of different cultures, civilizations, and technologies than the Void Explorer's League.
When they returned to Phoenix Prime, two of them planned to register their new corporation, and because of the rewards they received from the Imperial Government, they would be instantly done.
Afterward, they would start the business and begin selling the Dark Matter Energy Generators that she and Red Queen reverse-engineered from the technology of the Space Hulk during the invasion of the Alaric Star Domanion by the Greenskins.
Who brought the Space Hulk in the first place.
The Universal Credits obtained would be used to procure more cultivation resources because Arctruurus and Jeniael needed them very much. The 1st-Generation Highborne Asuryani needed as many Psionic Energy Crystals as possible to sustain his training.
Zehal needed more money to support her research, and she didn't want to ask her family for every single thing. It would make her look rather incompetent, and that was the last thing that she wanted as the competition in the Mercantile Clans was fierce.
Extremely so...
Merchants were bigger cutthroats than the nobles for most of the time.
Nevertheless, with the establishment of their corporation and once the money started flooding, a lot of problems would be solved.
***
Arcturus welcomed Zehal, who disembarked from the armored vehicle that drove her here, because it was a good number of hours of journey from the Ziria to here....
He could see that Zehal wasn't pleased by such a long journey, but Arcturus wanted some place that was far from the notice of the industrial capital of the colony.
And there was no better place than this manor.
The driver then helped her unpack her things, which mostly consisted of the research equipment that she had brought with her.
Obviously, she wasn't anywhere without it.
Even though she could be resting, she would still be tending to some work of hers.
Like a proper workaholic, she was.
"It seems that you have brought a lot of things with you, Zehal..."
Arcturus remaikred when he saw how many things the person behind her was dragging with him, as the poor solider from the Imperial Colonial Defense Forces that was acting as her driver was bringing was just too much.
"There are still some things that I need to finish during my stay here. Even though I got some vacation for several days, it didn't mean that I would stop working entirely. And for your information, the things that I will be working on are related to our own project, so you should be grateful that I will be giving my precious time... precious free time to this."
Zehal answered with a haughty tone of voice that had an uncanny resemblance to that of Jeniael, but he kept that opinion to himself, or she would most probably throw something at him if he dared to say something like that.
"Of course... of course... I am deeply grateful for your very hard work, oh honorable lady."
Hearing his heavy sarcastic tone and words made her cringe, because...
"Okey, simple Thank You would be more than enough you buffon."
The Heiress Apparent of the House Alvix said with an exhausted sigh as she passed around Arcturus, and they walked into the manor. Arcturus then led her to her room, which he had the bots prepared for her yesterday.
Everything was in perfect condition, so Zehal could move in without any delay, which was much to her satisfaction.
What pleased her even more was that he had already prepared a working room for her, where she could unload all of her equipment and things, because he predicted that she would want to have something like that.
If he thought about it, she and Jeniael were very similar, far more than they would ever admit, but that was also the reason why they were best frenemies. However, tha was for the later debate, as he and Jeniael took all of the equipment from the armored vehicle, as she was bringing too much stuff and not too many staff.
And she didn't want the adroids handling her things for whatever reason, so he was right now playing at the servant as he was doing this out of the goodness of his poor old heart.
"This should be the last one... what the hell are you even transporting in these caches? They are hea y as heck."
And that was coming from someone who was a Delta-Grade Warrior and his physical strength was something else entirely.
"There are some samples of the super Alloys that would be used for the Dark Matter Energy Generator. I want to conduct some tests and select the best one that would be used to create the core of the entire device. Even though the Red Queen made the calculation, we need to verify it through the experiment."
Zehal stated, as one of the advantages that they were on the planet like the Ziras IV, there was an abundance of various precious metals and ores. Something that was needed for her experiments and because they were at the source, the local companies were selling them relatively cheaper than the market price.
Not to mention, according to the Imperial Laws, a small part of the mined goods would go to the miners because not everything could be minted through the heavy industrial machinery, and some things needed to be mined manually by the people.
The wages for the miners were not really the greatest though they were better than many would have anticipated and were rather decent.
Still, to motivate the people to work as miners, especially Professionals because some ores and veins needed to be specifically mined by Warrior Professionals or Psionics Professionals, the Imperial Law stated that the miners had the right to receive a small part of the ores that they have personally mined.
They could then sell this on the market, and a lot of people would be buying those even at a bit higher price than the market price because they were selling only small amounts.
Small amount here and that.
But for example, such a small amount would be enough to forge a good number of weapons and the entire set of armor on the average. This was a popular practice because large mining companies, not only those in the Empire, were generally selling everything in bulk.
"So... everything is working as intended?"
Arcturus asked the scientist-in-chief as he put down the last box that contained metal ingots and alloys.
"Yes, for the most part. The simulation shows that the thing would work in 97% of cases as intended with minor malfunctions, but nothing that would be too severe or out of the norm at the market. I still need to test the metals and alloys to see which would work the best with the Generato, but afterward, we are good."
Zehal invested a lot of time into this project not only because it would be making money, but also it was her personal research for the Doctoral Thesis in the Imperial Phoenix Miltiary Academy Research Course.
Obviously, she did this with Arcturus's agreement as the man allowed her to use the research on the Dark Matter from the Dark Matter Energy Generators that he obtained from the Space Hulk and use it for her own devises.
"Excellent... then we can start the registration process and other formalities. We would also need to secure a proper factory where we could manufacture the product, and I think that we have already found the place."
Arcturus said as he pointed at the ground. Zehal quickly caught up with his intentions, which was to build the factory here.
On the Ziras IV.
This planet was ideal for all of their needs.
"Indeed... Ziras IV, as a large industrial mining planet, has all the ores and metals we need. At the same time, due to the large industrial sector in the world, there is no need for a qualified workforce, and overall, the conditions are good. With our personal connection to the Governor-General Thefas Farax, it should be an easy thing."
Arcturus nodded as he heard what Zehal was saying. She got ever thing right in their statement because Ziras IV was indeed the perfect planet for their future operations.
Not to mention the personal connection with the highest leadership of the Colony, and he was sure that the Governor-General Thefas Farax would be delighted to have something like their corporation headquarters in his territory.
The tax revenue, job opportunities, and other benefits that their company would provide to his territory would be immense. So, Arcturus and Zehal were sure that they could negotiate a good deal on this.
"The only aspect that remains problematic would be the security... Ziras IV is still very close to the frontline in the Nihilus Star Region, and only a few Star Domains are spearaining this planet from the battlefield against the Bugs."
Even though the distance could be rather large, as that could be several tens of thousands of Star Systems, for the bugs, it was nothing.
"Ts... at least for the foreseeable years, this planet would be under the protection of the Medjay, and it is also possible that the Empire would start pushing the bugs out of the Nihilus Star Region back to the Void."
Zehal stated that because right now, for the first few years, this problem would be solved as they knew that Medjay Forces would be permanently stationed for the foreseeable future on the Ziras IV due to security reasons.
"Well, the other possibilities would be to go to the different planets, but the conditions on them would be much harsher. Even if we find a suitable planet with rich mineral deposits and strong industry, we won't be getting conditions as good as here. The fact that the planet was under the threat of the Arachnid attack is actually playing into our cards from a certain sense, because this means that not many companies would actually want to make their presence here."
Even Zehal knew that what Arcturus was speaking about was truth, beucae the fact that the planet was under the threat of Arachnids was also making it much cheaper option compared to the other options that were on the table.
"Then we shall settle for the Ziras IV. We need to talk with Governor-General Farax about this issue, and we also need the name of the company if we want to establish it during our stay on the Ziras IV."
They still had several weeks before the Cosmic Storm Shroud passed away, and if they already had a functioning product almost finished, then they could start the more administration things on the list.
"Voidfuse Corporation."
Voidfuse Coporaiton...
It was an ironic name that pointed out the fusion and merger of various technologies that they scavenged from the Void and Cosmos.
"And we would also need to obtain a permit for the Imperial PMC if we want to operate in the Imperial Space without any problem in a bigger number than a few people."
Zehal's words were rather inlortnatt because they were not only aiming to build a corporation that would be selling things, but they would also need to establish a proper mercenary group, or rather, in their case, a PMC, Private Mililatry Company, that would solely focus on the Voidfuse Corporation.
The PMC would be in charge of procuring the tech, trnapsorting, protecting it, and all other things that would be needed. For that, they would need a special permit from the Imperial Government, and that permit was almost impossible to obtain for the acreage mortal.
Or even for the Bloodline Lineage Aristocratic Noble Houses.
The Imperial Government was really keen on handing out permits for the people to start building their own forces, which were under its control.
Thus, the number of the PMCs that existed and could legally operate within the border of the Eternal Empire of the Asurya could be counted on one hand.
"Could it be handled in a short period of time? We should have the PMC operational by the time the Company is established and we start manufacturing the first Dark Matter Energy Generators."
Zehal pondered over it because things like this usually took years to handle, and the Imperial Government wasn't really acting fast on this aspect. This was also part of the strategy to discourage people from even trying as the process was highly complicated and harsh.
Most of the PMCs that existed and operated within the Empire were connected to the Imperial Military one way or another or even controlled by it in some sense.
What do you think?
