Chapter 3437: Mountains Of Corpses, Seas Of Blood
Chapter 3437: Mountains Of Corpses, Seas Of Blood
The Megalith and the Pridebeast had nearly reached the limit of physical strength in the Tianyuan Megaverse. Even Hongyan Mavis, one of the Three Realms and Six Daos, did not surpass the two beasts in brute strength. As one of the strongest Sequence Progenitors in the megaverse, Hongyan Mavis was able to challenge Ortusers, but even she would struggle against the two beasts.
For the Megalith and the Pridebeast, dealing with two sequence powerhouses was no problem at all. After all, the beasts epitomized the philosophy of using overwhelming force to break through all techniques.
As for Astral Anura, he had an even easier time of things. After all, he was a Dukkhan.
Even after the three beast-form Spirit Rebirth cultivators were eliminated, there were still more attackers hiding in the shadows.
A golden cudgel rose high and swept through space, scattering all incoming sequence particles. Sovereign Dou Sheng emerged from the destruction, bathed in blood.
Boundless slowly sailed past the shattered Waterfall Void.
As the water fell and completely drenched all parts of the Alin Domain, light fell upon Boundless. Sovereign Dou Sheng returned to the battleship, his robes stained with blood, but his expression calm.
While the battle had ended extremely quickly, Sovereign Dou Sheng had not had an easy victory. He had sacrificed himself to take down one of the Spirit Nidus’s sequence powerhouses. Fortunately, the Sovereign’s mastery of Extremes Must Be Reversed and his own Triumphant Brawl made battles of mutual destruction his most effective strategy.
Lu Yin stood up and lazily stretched. “Gather the bodies.”
Second Life moved out and started to collect the corpses of the fallen sequence powerhouses.
On the far side of the ruined Waterfall Void, the two sequence powerhouses from the Alin Domain stood still, stunned speechless. The Primal Beastland’ three experts had fallen before the two men’s eyes, and Sovereign Dou Sheng had slaughtered the rest right in front of them. The man who had been bathed in a golden light had seemed invincible. Had they just witnessed the true strength of the Grandverse Manor?
Was this the power that Yuan Qi, the renegade Seraph, led against the Ascendant Hall?
Even after all that had happened, Yuan Qi still had not made a move, which meant that Boundless’s full power was still hidden.
Bai Liu and the others who had been picked up were beyond shocked. While they had also witnessed the brutal slaughter at the boundary, the fight at the Waterfall Voidfight was just too spectacular. Even the falling water had been stained red. Boundless was carrying terrifyingly powerful experts, and Bai Liu and the others knew that many aboard the battleship had not once taken action.
Of particular notice was the one who called himself Third Boss. While that was the title he claimed to hold, even Yuan Qi obeyed that young man’s orders. It was clear who was the true master of Boundless, though his power was a complete mystery.
Beneath the shattered Waterfall Void, a man wiped the mud off himself as he watched Boundless disappear past the glowing horizon. He let out a sigh of relief.
Terrifying! Thank goodness I never managed to pull any of them into the dream realm, or else I surely have died! Undoubtedly, there are far more terrifying powerhouses aboard Boundless.
There were rumors that Yuan Qi’s Dao Bell was feared even by the High Seraph, and those rumors were starting to appear to be true. Yuan Qi had still not taken action, as he was likely waiting for High Seraph to make a move. The High Seraph’s hesitation might similarly stem from fear of Yuan Qi. If the two actually fought, the rest of the powerhouses in the Spirit Nidus might not be enough to overcome Boundless. After all, not all people shared the same goal.
Thank goodness I didn’t attack! Thank goodness.
...
When word of the battle at the Waterfall Void spread, the Spirit Nidus was shocked yet again. No one knew that a far more brutal battle had been fought at the boundary, but just the outcome from the Alin Domain was enough to leave people speechless.
The powerhouse from the Primal Beastland who had used the Divine Projection to copy the Beast Emperor had once fought for the position of Seraph. He was not that much weaker than the Seven Seraphs, and yet reports claimed that Yuan Qi had still not joined the fight. The one who had killed the Ortuser beast... had been a toad.
A toad? No one believed such a thing. Everyone assumed that those tales had to be a mistake; Seraph Yuan Qi must have secretly intervened. After all, how could a mere toad kill an Ortuser? What a joke!
Unless, of course, the toad was a powerhouse who had undergone a beast-form Spirit Rebirth itself.
No one had ever heard of Seraph Yuan Qi associating with beast-form Spirit Rebirth cultivators.
The battle at Waterfall Void had solidified many people’s convictions that the Grandverse Manor possessed unfathomable strength.
One after another, people started moving out, making their way toward Boundless.
Many who had been following the battleship opened up greater distance between themselves and Boundless out of fear that someone from the vessel might eliminate them due to a moment of displeasure.
Boundless had become feared.
While the message written on the massive banner remained an eyesore to all, no one had the courage to act recklessly.
Even before Boundless left the Alin Domain, someone caught up, chasing after the battleship. This person asked to join the Grandverse Manor.
Lu Yin was intrigued, and he allowed the person to enter Boundless.
The man was ecstatic. Boundless! He had actually managed to board it. This was a place that even sequence powerhouses were unable to step foot in.
After arriving on Boundless, the man saw a number of people, and he sensed unfathomable auras from many of them. He did his best to suppress his fear.
When he stood before Lu Yin, the man bowed and said, “I am Shi Bei. Greetings, Third Boss.”
Lu Yin studied Shi Bei. “You’re quite young and already a Spirit Wanderer. Not bad.”
Spirit Wanderers were the equivalent of the Tianyuan Megaverse’s Enlighters.
This man seemed to be about as old as Hai Qiqi. Given his age, his cultivation was rather impressive.
Shi Bei respectfully replied, “I’m far inferior to you, Third Boss, but thank you for the praise.”
The people nearby all gave the young man odd looks. You want to compare yourself to Lu Yin?
Shi Bei had no idea of Lu Yin’s true strength, and he simply assumed, based on logic, that Lu Yin did not hold his position in the Grandverse Manor because of his personal strength, but rather because of his connection to Yuan Qi. It seemed likely that this Third Boss was one of Yuan Qi’s descendants.
However, Shi Bei felt that Lu Yin’s actual strength did not really matter; flattering him would always be the safest approach.
Lu Yin arched a brow. “Why do you wish to join the Grandverse Manor?”
Shi Bei answered in a respectful tone, “I believe my talent to be decent, and I wish to join the Grandverse Manor in order to serve the Third Boss and Seraph Yuan Qi.”
Lu Yin frowned. “That’s it?”
Shi Bei froze. Something about Third Boss’s tone did not sound quite right. Why was there no hint of happiness? Someone was willing to join the Grandverse Manor, despite the risk of offending the Ascendant Hall and the Spirit Nidus as a whole. This was proof that the Grandverse Manor’s strength was being acknowledged!
“Y-yes, that’s all.”
Lu Yin stared at Shi Bei. “You don’t have any grievances at all?”
Shi Bei looked bewildered. “Grievances? Um... should I have some?”
“You can.”
“I don’t.”
“Has your entire life been smooth sailing?”
“I’m just an independent cultivator. I’ve managed to avoid making enemies, though I also haven’t encountered any impressive opportunities. Still, I have decent talent, and I even competed for a place in the invasion of the Tianyuan Megaverse. I very nearly succeeded.”
Lu Yin casually waved his hand, throwing Shi Bei off of Boundless.
What a joke! How could he allow someone without some sort of grievance to board Boundless? Lu Yin’s goal was to cause trouble, not to recruit disciples.
Shi Bei was stupefied. He had been thrown off the ship, but why? Had he said something wrong? Why had he been rejected?
You don’t have any grievances at all? Has your entire life been smooth sailing? Lu Yin’s words echoed ceaselessly in the young man’s ears. For the first time in his life, Shi Bei felt humiliated by his past. It was true that he had lived a decent life due to his reasonable talent and he had no real enemies, but he also had never had any great opportunities.
However, he had developed a strong grudge against Boundless.
That guy’s nothing but a spoiled brat! Shi Bei fumed. He doesn’t know how to treasure talent. I should have asked to see Seraph Yuan Qi. What a bastard!
Just then, someone arrived, and they stole Shi Bei away.
He was one of the few people to have stepped aboard Boundless and left unscathed. Naturally, there were people who wanted to learn more about the battleship from the young man.
This incident served as a reminder to many people. Why should they fight against Boundless in an attempt to learn its secrets? Since the Grandverse Manor was openly recruiting, why not learn what they wanted by infiltrating Boundless and working from within?
There was no doubt that Seraph Yuan Qi and his people were incredibly strong, but that did not allow them to see through human hearts.
This realization prompted many people to start plotting.
The great powers reacted quickly. Boundless had only just left the Alin Domain and was still sailing through outer space when another person asked to join.
Lu Yin looked at a beautiful woman who stood before him. “Why do you want to join the Grandverse Manor?”
The woman was stunning, at least to most men. While she was not as entrancing as breathtaking as Cai Keqing, the woman possessed an irresistible seductiveness, and she also carried an incredibly enticing fragrance.
“I simply wish to...”
Aah!
There was a scream as the woman was thrown off Boundless
, just like Shi Bei.Soon after that, more people arrived, all of them requesting to join the Grandverse Manor. These people came from various sects and families, and they used countless methods and excuses in their attempts to join the rebels. Some shared tragic stories or asked for protection from persecution in order to join, yet none succeeded.
“What’s going on? Even your story couldn’t get you in?” someone asked in confusion. From Shi Bei, people had learned that their Third Boss seemed to require people to have some sort of grievance in order to join.
Grievances? That was simple enough.
Countless people with grievances could be found. Some had even more pitiful stories than Cai Jun. They were as miserable as could be, but not a single one was allowed to join Boundless.
Everyone who requested to join Boundless noticed that their Third Boss always performed one specific action.
He flicked his fingers.
What did that movement have to do with whether someone could join the Grandverse Manor? No one could make sense of this.
Lu Yin seemed relaxed and even happy. Why? Because there was an endless line of people who were trying to join the Grandverse Manor.
“It would be more effective to just kill them,” Yuan Qi offered. “That would scare people from trying to infiltrate us.”
Lu Yin smiled. “Don’t you find this entertaining?”
Yuan Qi did not understand, but he said nothing more.
To him, Lu Yin was just wasting time.
But that was not the case at all. Each person who tried to join the Grandverse Manor, no matter if they had been sent by others or were genuine in their request, offered Lu Yin the chance to practice his Inner Clarity Technique. He was able to observe people’s pasts through their karma. While it was a self-created technique, Lu Yin was still unfamiliar and needed to practice it repeatedly in order to refine it.
This was his only technique that even the High Seraph and Master Qing Cao feared.
Therefore, it was also the technique that Lu Yin was the most eager to master.
Karma could lead one to Immortality, so how could he take such a thing lightly?
On top of that, watching people rack their brains trying to find a way to join the Grandverse Manor was quite entertaining. This was much more fun than fishing.
While it was true that some of the applicants had real grievances, all of them were insignificant matters. Lu Yin was in the Spirit Nidus to stir up trouble, not actually help the megaverse clean up messes.
It would be better for him to find someone who had a significant grievance.
As Boundless continued on towards the Hundred Grasses Domain, people continuously tried to join the Grandverse Manor. Since Lu Yin did not kill anyone, most people believed that they might have a chance.
Lu Yin was happy to use the applicants to improve his mastery of karma, and as a result, things settled into an oddly peaceful rhythm.
Only the words written on the banner above the battleship remained unbearably conspicuous.
When Boundless finally left the Alin Domain, it left behind a legend that would linger there forever. Those in the domain would forever be reminded of the event by the mountains of corpses and the sea of blood.
It had truly been a mountain of corpses and a sea of blood.
The corpses of the beast-form Spirit Rebirth cultivators had piled up like mountains, and their blood had flowed out to form an ocean.
Boundless’s journey was anything but dull. Multiple groups continued to try to infiltrate Boundless, and Lu Yin was greatly entertained by the entire situation. As a result, Boundless grew livelier than ever before, as people were constantly boarding and being thrown off.
Some daring individuals even tried to sneak aboard the battleship, but such people were always discovered. No matter how large Boundless might be, no one could sneak past Yuan Qi’s perception.
People simply wanted to test the limits of the Grandverse Manor. Those who attempted to sneak in did so prepared to die. Their goal was to expose just how many powerhouses were aboard the battleship.
Their conclusion? Many. Far too many. In fact, there was a terrifying number of experts on Boundless.
What do you think?
