Chapter 43 - Toolman Ying Nie, Bronze Gate Opens

Chapter 43 Toolman Ying Nie, Bronze Gate Opens

Ying Nie couldn’t bear the ‘affectionate and longing’ gaze Qin Qingqing cast at Gu Changsheng and couldn’t help but steel himself to ask, “You two have known each other for a long time, haven’t you?”

Gu Changsheng shook his head. “No.”

“No,” Qin Qingqing echoed.

Both were telling the truth, yet Ying Nie refused to believe them.

To him, Gu Changsheng, with his unparalleled elegance, resembled an immortal descended from the heavens, while Qin Qingqing, with her peerless beauty, seemed like a goddess incarnate. Naturally, they appeared to be a perfect match.

As for their backgrounds, no other families across the Three Thousand Dao Realms could be better suited for each other.

It was highly likely, in his view, that they were having a quarrel over something.

This deepened the vigilance in Ying Nie’s heart. Dealing with an unfathomable Gu Changsheng was already stressful enough—adding the enigmatic Qin family’s Saintess to the equation made him feel even more pressured.

If they decided to gang up on me, my only option would be to flee in disgrace. There would be no other outcome.

Gu Changsheng, however, was entirely unaware that Ying Nie had already grouped him and Qin Qingqing as allies in his mind.

At the moment, Gu Changsheng was solely focused on investigating the anomaly in the area.

“What do you know about this bronze gate?” he asked directly, watching their reactions.

Qin Qingqing let out a soft snort and said nothing, clearly indicating she knew nothing about it.

Ying Nie, on the other hand, shook his head and replied, “I don’t know much about the Northern Wasteland Sacred Tomb, but I do know something about this bronze gate. It leads to the ancient Ice Palace, but it’s tainted with the blood of a saint. Anyone who gets too close risks their body disintegrating.”

“Oh? Is that so?” Gu Changsheng raised an eyebrow, pondering the truth of Ying Nie’s statement.

This guy has been secretly following me and entered through the same path—there’s no way he’s up to any good.

“I once saw it mentioned in a fragment of an ancient text. It said the same thing, though I can’t verify its accuracy,” Ying Nie added, his words ambiguous.

“In that case, why don’t you lead the way for us and find out?” Gu Changsheng said lightly.

“What!?”

Lead the way?

Ying Nie’s eyes widened in disbelief. For a moment, he wondered if he had misheard. But when he saw that Gu Changsheng’s expression hadn’t changed in the slightest, nor did he seem to be joking, he could only suppress the anger bubbling within him.

“Divine Son, isn’t this going too far?” he said in a low voice.

Even Qin Qingqing looked surprised.

“What’s excessive about it? Since you dared to come here, it shows you were prepared. A little danger like this shouldn’t be a problem for you,” Gu Changsheng explained with a smile, as if he trusted Ying Nie completely.

It seemed perfectly reasonable.

Qin Qingqing, hearing this, was slightly stunned. She couldn’t refute his logic, but she felt that Gu Changsheng was truly devious. He was nothing like the transcendent, jade-like gentleman he appeared to be.

“And what if I refuse?” Ying Nie’s face darkened.

The Gu family’s divine son is far more domineering and unyielding than I imagined.

“You can try,” Gu Changsheng replied, still smiling.

There was no hint of threat in his tone, yet Ying Nie felt utterly defeated.

After all, the situation was not in his favor.

“Fine.”

As Ying Nie reluctantly agreed, he swung his horsetail whisk, which radiated brilliant divine light like rotating stars.

Then, he retrieved a star disk from his sleeve. It was inscribed with intricate runes and Daoist patterns that shimmered like clouds.

Brilliant five-colored light shot out, striking eight different corners of the bronze gate.

Soon, there was a deafening boom!

The bronze gate swung open!

A decayed, oppressive aura surged out, carrying with it a suffocating air of bloodlust and resentment.

“It’s open,” Gu Changsheng murmured, narrowing his eyes slightly.

As expected, Ying Nie had come prepared, able to easily bypass the array formations and restrictions.

Gu Changsheng had already noticed the formation marks etched into the surroundings. A careless step would trigger them.

Of course, he could have figured out a way to break them, but why bother when he had a “tool” readily available?

“Is this good enough for you?” Ying Nie asked, his expression sour. After all, the preparations he’d made were ultimately being used to benefit someone else, leaving him feeling aggrieved and frustrated.

“Brother Nie, please go ahead,” Gu Changsheng added.

It wasn’t that he was overly cautious or deliberately making Ying Nie scout ahead—he simply wanted to observe Ying Nie’s true intentions.

Unlike Gu Changsheng’s exploratory approach, Ying Nie seemed to have a clear plan and purpose from the start.

Once again, anger flared within Ying Nie, but his years of cultivation allowed him to calm down quickly. Mounting his green ox, he proceeded into the passageway ahead.

His body exuded Daoist intent, restoring his composure and shielding his mind from Gu Changsheng’s manipulative influence.

“This guy’s physique is a bit peculiar,” Gu Changsheng remarked, a strange glint flashing through his eyes.

He began speculating about what kind of physique it might be, recalling what he had read in ancient texts.

“Aren’t you afraid this mysterious man will lead us into a trap?” Qin Qingqing suddenly asked, her tone full of doubt.

She couldn’t understand why Gu Changsheng trusted Ying Nie enough to let him lead the way.

“Not at all. I’m more worried about you secretly attacking me,” Gu Changsheng replied with a sidelong glance. Even if Qin Qingqing and Ying Nie teamed up, he wouldn’t be afraid.

As for Ying Nie alone, he was hardly a threat.

“You…” Qin Qingqing was furious, baring her small, sharp teeth as though she wanted to bite his elegant face.

This guy was clearly mocking her for the incident the other night when she attempted to investigate him.

She couldn’t understand why, when she maintained her aloof and ethereal demeanor in front of others, she always ended up flustered and enraged in front of Gu Changsheng.
