Chapter 755: Conversation
Chapter 755: Chapter 755: Conversation
Early in the morning, inside the small courtyard.
Wang Chen, bare-chested, was wearing only a pair of shorts and standing barefoot on the cold stone slabs.
He was methodically practicing the body strengthening techniques from the “Heavenly Dragon Vajra Method”.
Strengthening the exterior to nourish the Qi-Blood was the fundamental principle of this Buddhist Sect’s Divine Body Refining Technique, aligning perfectly with the martial path of this world.
As his Qi-Blood was continuously transported, his muscles contracted and expanded rhythmically, the tendons under his bronze skin twisting in a regular pattern, gradually squeezing out potential.
The crystalline sweat oozing from his pores seemed to give Wang Chen a layer of glistening oil, shimmering with an enthralling glow.
...
But this sweat didn’t linger on his skin for long, soon evaporating from the heat emitted by his body.
As he completed the Great Zhou circulation, Wang Chen finished and took a long breath out.
A white mist expelled from his mouth like a sharp arrow, shooting straight out for ten paces.
This was a characteristic of having cultivated the “Heavenly Dragon Vajra Method” into one’s internal organs!
Wang Chen was quite pleased with the progress of his cultivation.
But it could be faster.
He touched his stomach, which immediately responded with a rumbling sound.
Wang Chen shook his head helplessly, picked up a bucket of well water to quickly wash his body, then put on his clothes and went to the kitchen to prepare breakfast for himself.
The only thing that increased in tandem with his strength was undoubtedly his appetite.
Ordinary food was no longer enough to meet Wang Chen’s cultivation needs. Foods like the yams commonly eaten by the residents of Little Stone Village were practically useless to him, no better than trash.
In the kitchen, a thick medicinal fragrance lingered.
In the pot on the stove, a pork stomach soup had been stewing for more than two hours!
Although it wasn’t perfectly cooked yet, Wang Chen couldn’t wait and reached out to lift the hot earthenware pot directly off the stove.
This level of heat meant nothing to him.
He lifted the lid off the pot, took a deep breath of its aroma, and his mouth immediately began to water with hunger.
This pot of pork stomach soup contained salt and galangal, the latter a rare spice, pungent and perfect for removing gamy flavors from meat dishes.
Wang Chen had found two pieces of old ginger by chance next to the kitchen stove; otherwise, the taste of the pork stomach soup would have been much less palatable.
He couldn’t wait to pick up the pot and take a big gulp of the soup.
Refreshing!
The steaming hot soup went straight to his stomach, with the medicinal strength and nutrients quickly replenishing the energy Wang Chen had expended during his practice. He felt warm all over, as if he had stepped into a hot spring.
Wang Chen knew that this pork stomach was extraordinary, but he hadn’t expected its nourishing effects to be so strong!
He first drank the pot of soup clean, then picked up the pork stomach and ate heartily.
Because the stewing time wasn’t long enough, and Wang Chen didn’t have a pressure cooker, the pork stomach wasn’t completely tender. However, this didn’t affect his appetite in the least.
The taste of the pork stomach was excellent, especially the parts with meat nodules, bursting with a medicinal flavor with every bite.
The nutritional content was soaring high, at least three to four floors tall!
A pot of pork stomach soup weighing more than ten pounds, broth and all, was polished off by Wang Chen in the blink of an eye.
He even made sure not to leave behind the few slices of galangal at the bottom of the pot.
After eating, Wang Chen patted his stomach still craving more, feeling as though he could take down another two pots!
Clack clack!
Just then, someone knocked on the outer gate.
Wang Chen went out to open the door and saw the village chief, Shi Laowu, smiling as he stood at the threshold.
He was carrying a jar in his left hand and a large pig’s head in his right!
Wang Chen was surprised: “Village Chief.”
Shi Laowu said with a smile, “I came to have a chat with you, to discuss some matters.”
Wang Chen promptly invited the top expert of Little Stone Village into his home and arranged tables and chairs in the courtyard to host him.
Shi Laowu didn’t act as an outsider, he placed the pig’s head on the table and popped open the clay-sealed jar.
The pig’s head was the wild boar that Wang Chen had hunted yesterday. It had its skin removed and been roasted until golden brown, its color making it look particularly tempting.
As soon as the jar was unsealed, a thick aroma of alcohol immediately wafted out.
“Come, come, come, let’s eat and talk.”
Shi Laowu took two bowls and filled them with Bear Gall Wine, “Try the ten-year-aged Bear Gall Wine from my home.”
While speaking, he pulled out a shimmering dagger to slice the pig’s head meat.
Although Wang Chen had just finished off a pot of pig tripe soup, his current appetite was such that he was not even half full.
He naturally did not refuse this feast that had come knocking on his door.
Moreover, Wang Chen was quite interested in the Bear Gall Wine.
He, or rather Chen Ergou, had never before drunk the alcohol of this world.
The wine Shi Laowu brought was amber-colored and had a strong smell, seemingly of high alcohol content, and also contained a strange medicinal scent which was vastly different from the smell of the pig stomach meat.
Wang Chen picked up his wine bowl and took a sip, feeling a trail of fire slide down his throat and instantly “ignite” inside his body.
Strong and fierce!
“Good wine!”
Wang Chen couldn’t help but exclaim, then grabbed two pieces of pig’s head meat and stuffed them into his mouth.
The taste of the pig’s head meat was surprisingly good, carrying a hint of fruitwood smoke flavor, and it was even marinated.
He couldn’t help but take another drink.
Shi Laowu stared blankly at Wang Chen as he gulped down the wine and wolfed the meat, a glimmer of doubt flickering in his eyes.
The young man in front of him was far too different from the impression he remembered.
However, Shi Laowu had never before taken Chen Ergou seriously, so although he felt something was off, it did not lead to any bizarre thoughts or speculations.
The village chief of Little Stone Village hesitated for a moment before asking, “Ergou, did you learn your martial arts from Brother Qiao Shan?”
Shi Laowu was not much older than Chen Qiaoshan and was socially ranked as an uncle to Chen Ergou.
Little Stone Village only had a hundred or so households. Several families intermarried, and the villagers were all more or less related and connected without exception.
Wang Chen candidly replied, “Yes, Village Chief.”
“Just call me Uncle Wu.”
Shi Laowu asked again, “Has your dad ever… well, how much do you know about the martial path?”
Wang Chen didn’t know much about the martial way of this world.
All he knew came from the memories of Chen Ergou, who was not a martial artist; hence, the information he had was very limited.
Seeing Shi Laowu’s earnestness, it seemed that he intended to clear up any confusion.
Wang Chen, of course, would not miss this opportunity.
Shi Laowu evidently had high hopes for Wang Chen, thus he answered all his questions thoroughly and in detail.
The insights and experiences of this Bone Refinement martial artist far surpassed those of Chen Qiaoshan!
According to Shi Laowu, this world was known as the Foggy Mountain Realm, because most of the area was shrouded in mist, and the presence of abundant mountains and forests gave it its name.
In the Foggy Mountain Realm, villages like Little Stone Village were scattered throughout, akin to islets surrounded by fog.
But there were also larger human settlements than the villages.
These were the cities, both large and small!
The cities were the bastions of humanity, the foundations for combating Fierce Beasts, and they congregated a large number of people.
Including powerful martial artists!
What do you think?
