Chapter 222: Part 1: City police team's reactions
City Gate:
Jeremy was surrounded by the City Guard. He then told what happened to the thick browed middle-aged man who seemed to be the Captain.
The thick browed middle-aged man and the other City Guards were more stressed after hearing the identity of the student.
The thick-browed middle-aged man smelled trouble. He looked at the kid in front of him.
"Not only is the kid the 1st Year Representative Student of the Central University, but his father is the City Governor of City C," he said in his heart.
The City Governors and the City Guards are part of the City Administration. They directly report to the Human Alliance. It doesn't matter whether it's City C or City A; they are part of the Human Alliance.
So the City Guard Captain felt it was necessary to inform the higher-ups.
"Kid, come with us. We will inform the authorities. The City Police might need information from you. Then they will look for the culprit," he explained.
Hearing that, Jeremy nodded his head and followed him toward the office room. Even though he needed some alone time, he was so close to death.
If not for his talent kicking in at the last moment, he would have been pierced by the bullet. Jeremy then tried to calm his heart.
After reaching the office, the thick-browed middle-aged man guided him to stay in the empty room until the City Police came.
I nodded to him before entering the room. Then I sat on the sofa and began waiting for the police personnel to arrive.
The joy of achieving a Rank 7 breakthrough was gone. Now his thoughts were on the mysterious sniper who dared to attack him.
Suddenly, he couldn't help but think about the people dressed in black. The last time he had tried to interrogate them, he could only gather a little information.
Their boss was Javier, and their organization was "Goldcorp." For some reason, they wanted to eliminate him. The person mentioned the rat beasts incident before dying.
He could only imagine how much hatred the mastermind had against him. Though he had explored the underground passage, the further investigation and truth were discovered by Elder Derek and the City Administration.
To be honest, he was confused. He couldn't help but wonder whether there was a much more sinister plot to it. Since he was targeted once, he could be targeted a second time.
He thought that the sniper belonged to the same organization as well. Last time, he had wiped out their team, who had followed him back to the wilderness.
He thought their boss Javier had sent out the sniper to eliminate him inside the city. Jeremy didn't doubt the power of the Goldcorp Organization.
It's an organization that even the University didn't want to offend.
He felt a chill run down his back thinking about it. He had never felt more grateful for his awakened talent. If it were someone else, he didn't know whether he could have stopped the bullet.
Then he pushed those thoughts aside before calling Instructor Jacob Henry. When the call was connected, he told him everything without missing any details.
A few minutes later,
Jacob Henry's expression was full of fear on the call. He didn't know who was targeting Jeremy Night. He knew Jeremy Night had encountered people from powerful organizations previously.
He feared someone from that organization might have found out about Jeremy's actions. Jacob then told Jeremy that he would arrive there with Department Head Derek shortly.
After ending the call, Jeremy felt a sense of relief. Earlier, he didn't want to encounter the Senior students, so he left the campus and entered the wilderness for practice.
Now, the people from Goldcorp were targeting him. They were not even worried about the investigation from the City Administration, which showed that they were prepared for anything.
Jeremy figured out the important details in a few minutes. Now, there weren't many ways for him to solve the problem.
He couldn't face Goldcorp alone. He didn't know whether Goldcorp was behind this or if someone working there was. He had little information.
If he could capture someone and gather information from them, it would be best. Slowly, he got lost in thought.
...
Central University 14:
Jacob Henry rushed to the Administration Block and met with Department Head Oldman Derek. Seeing his flustered face, Oldman Derek was confused.
"What happened?"
"Take your seat first," Oldman Derek said.
Jacob sat opposite him in the chair and started speaking about his call with Jeremy Night.
At first, Oldman Derek's expression was calm. But when he heard someone fired at Jeremy Night, his expression was full of disbelief and confusion.
"What are you saying?" he asked.
"It's true; someone fired at the kid. He is staying in the City Guard office," Jacob said.
Oldman Derek's expression changed drastically. He knew no one dared to take action inside the City, especially against innocent civilians. But Jeremy Night's identity was not ordinary.
He was a Central University 14 student and the son of the City Governor. No normal organization had the guts to do that.
Oldman Derek thought the issue was serious, with some big conspiracy behind it. The next second, he stood up from his seat.
"You go to the City Gate. I'll come after informing the Dean," Oldman Derek said.
Hearing that, Jacob nodded before walking out of the room.
When he was gone, Oldman Derek pondered. He wondered who had done this.
"Could it be the families behind the Senior Students?" he asked himself.
"No chance," he shook his head in denial. He knew that they didn't have the guts.
Then he left his office and went to the Dean's office. He didn't know why kid Jeremy was facing dangers time and time again.
Whether in the wilderness, city, or university, Jeremy Night was facing threats everywhere.
Soon, he reached the Dean's office. He came unannounced. He didn't know whether the Dean was available or not. After reaching the place, he immediately requested permission.
Inside the Dean's office, Carolyn was busy with her work. She suddenly received a request from Elder Derek.
"Hmm," Carolyn raised her eyebrows in surprise.
....
She then allowed him to enter. She knew Elder Derek wouldn't seek permission unless there was something important.
Creak!
Oldman Derek walked into the room. His expression was full of worry. He didn't know whether Dean would take strict action. He then sat opposite her.
"Dean, something is up. Someone fired at Jeremy Night 15 minutes ago," Derek said in a solemn tone.
Hearing that, Carolyn was stunned. Her old face was full of shock. She couldn't believe what she was hearing.
"What do you say?" she asked again.
Derek sighed inwardly. He had the same reaction before. Then he started to brief her.
A few minutes later,
"This is troublesome. Who is targeting the kid?" Carolyn said with anger.
She was aware of the backer behind Jeremy Night. It's a powerhouse existence. If something happened to Jeremy Night, then she and the others responsible would face consequences.
"Where is that kid?"
"Bring him here. I want to know what's going on," Carolyn asked.
"Jacob has gone to pick him up. When he is here, we will know everything," Derek said.
Then he thought of something before asking, "Dean, do you think those families are responsible?"
Hearing that, Carolyn's eyes flickered.
She said, "There are possibilities. Some of the senior students' families are working for the big corporations that have their headquarters located in the top zone."
"This also has branches spread over major zones," she added.
"It's a really troublesome matter. Let's hope that's not the case," Carolyn uttered.
She hoped that those families had not crossed the line. Otherwise, she would be forced to take action against them.
...
Meanwhile,
A city police team has arrived at the City Guard office. The City Guard Captain saw the police team and sighed in relief.
The three-man police team met with the Captain and asked for the details.
A few minutes later,
The leading policeman who was wearing a black overcoat look at the Captain.
"Where is the kid?" he asked.
"He is inside the room," the thick-browed captain said.
"Take me there," the leading policeman said.
Then the group entered the office.
At the same time, Jeremy heard footsteps nearing him.
He raised his head and looked at the door. The next second, he saw four people walk into the room. Among them, he saw a thick-browed middle-aged man. He was the captain of the City Guards.
Then his gaze fell on the others. Jeremy's eyes fell on their star badges on their chests. He realized they were policemen.
"Kid, what's your name?" the leading policeman asked.
Hearing that, Jeremy stood up and answered, "My name is Jeremy Night. I'm studying in my first year at Central University 14."
"Central University 14," the middle-aged policeman furrowed his eyebrows. Someone had targeted a university student. He knew it was a big case.
So his expression and that of the two colleagues behind him turned serious.
"Jeremy Night, I'm Captain Nathan. Could you tell me what happened from the beginning?" he asked.
What do you think?
