Strongest Demigod System

Chapter 85 85: Cheat Code

"Yes, you are all born with exactly 15 units of Divine Essence in your core, which is only 10% of the Divine Essence needed to fill an E-Rank core. In order to increase the amount of Divine Essence contained in the core, a demigod must absorb it from the Daemons that they kill. A lesser daemon grants 30 units of Divine Essence, so on average, a demigod would need to kill eight of them to gain enough Divine Essence to raise their Divine Core ranking. But as the Divine Potential of a demigod increases, the number of daemons they need to kill reduces.

"A B Rank, like Ruth over here, would need to kill eight of them, an A-Rank like Gerald only needs to kill seven of them, the S Ranks will only kill six, and the EX Ranks will only need to kill five. As the rank of your Divine Core increases, so too does the gap between the number of Daemons you need to kill to rank up. As an EX Rank grows, they'll need to kill fewer and fewer daemons compared to an S Rank and lower. That is the major reason why Divine Potential is regarded so highly in our line of work."

Scar raised his legs up on the table and crossed them under him so he could sit more comfortably. Most of the students in the class also became more comfortable as they listened to Scar's lecture.

The students might not like how hard Scar always pushed them during training, but they couldn't deny that Scar's lectures were very interesting.

He sounded more like a veteran teacher than someone who only started teaching two years ago.

Scar dropped his novel to the side to free up his hand before he started speaking while gesticulating every now and then.

"Now, that brings us to the concept of Divine Potential. What is it? Why do you killers have it? What does it define? In the simplest of terms, your Divine Potential defines how talented you are as a Demigod.

"You killers aren't children, so it is about time you understood things properly. Divine Potential isn't just a term that describes how much Divine Essence you can absorb from a daemon. Yes, that is the first thing that every child learns, and it's what they told you when you were in middle school. But it's a lot more than that. The Divine Potential is a sign of favor from the world itself. It means that no matter what it is that you attempt to learn, there will be a large difference in the speed of assimilation between you and those with lower potential.

"Take Jane here for an example. Jane Ashton awoke an S Rank potential, which allows her to absorb up to eighty percent of the Divine Essence in a daemon. But I'm sure you are all aware that she also possesses a far higher growth rate in her mortal strength than the rest of you. She doesn't need to work as hard as others to gain the same amount of benefits or more. And it's not only that. When it comes to ranking up your Divine Core, Jane will also possess more advantages due to her Divine Potential.

"But all of this is still nothing compared to what you can do with an EX Rank in potential. Thankfully, we have an example right here with us, isn't that right, Captain?"

Scar looked up at Azrael, and Azrael simply stared at him without bothering to answer. Scar chuckled in amusement.

Scar had been gauging Azrael's reactions to his words recently, and he was surprised by how much calmer Azrael was compared to when they had their first class. It seems like Azrael had finally learned how to control his emotions better.

"Having an EX Rank in potential is a cheat code to the top. Your Divine Essence absorption? It's at the max. Your mortal body growth? It's at the max. Your Divine Core growth? It's at the max. With a Rank like that, a demigod will be capable of reaching S rank both in their God Aspect and Mortal Ranking after only a year. And as time goes on, the differences between them and all other ranks become more obvious and glaring."

"Too bad our own EX Rank is a total reject! Talk about a bad product!"

Gerald yelled loudly from his seat, and the class began to laugh at Azrael's expense.

Azrael didn't make any move to counter the childish jab even when Gerald turned around to smirk at him, but when Gerald turned back to Scar, a book slammed into his forehead!

THWACK!

"Shit!"

Thud!

Gerald fell back to the floor with a curse, and the class laughed even louder.

Scar held his hand out to Gerald, and Gerald grumbled as he stood up and took the novel back to Scar while rubbing his sore temple. Scar then pointed to the corner.

"Go stand there."

Gerald grumbled again, but he obeyed and went to stand at the corner of the class.

He didn't want to mess with Scar after what he went through last week.

Scar continued.

"Where was I? Yes, Divine Potential. I want all of you to keep what I said in mind. It should be common knowledge among the Demigods, but it isn't because the higher-ups don't want to ruin the ambition of the younger ones before they get the chance to discover themselves. But I believe that every killer should know their own limitations. It is only by knowing how powerful you are and where you fall short that you can learn how to get stronger. If you keep trying to do things in the same way as those who have more of an advantage, you're only setting yourself up for disappointment."

The bell for lunch rang immediately after Scar said this, and Scar got down from the table and dismissed the class.

"I'll see you all after lunch. Azrael, Jane. Come."

The students all started to file out of class once they were dismissed, and Azrael headed to the front of the class to meet with Jane and Scar.

Scar folded his hands gently while waiting for them to stand in front of him, and once Azrael got down, Scar spoke:

"About the training exercise this weekend, have you completed the assignment of teams?"

Azrael nodded and turned to Jane to provide what they worked on.

Azrael might not like Jane as a person, but he couldn't deny that she was a lot more organized than he was, so he allowed her to hold onto the documents.

They had been working on it during their lunch breaks since they were told about it earlier this week, and Azrael found himself slowly growing immune to the snobbish, pompous attitude that Jane always exhibits.

Jane desperately wanted to be the class captain, and even now that Azrael was the captain, she would sometimes act like she was the one in charge.

She was willing to shoulder all the responsibilities that came with being the captain, and she would even tell Azrael not to bother helping out sometimes since she believed she could do a better job alone.

Azrael was more than happy to leave everything to her.

Jane gave Scar a few sheets, and Scar looked through them before nodding.

"Good job, this will do. Now, I heard that there was going to be some party happening tomorrow. Do you both know about this?"

Jane was the one to speak up.

"Yes, it's an event organized by Sunny from B Class. Most of the students in our class were invited."

Scar frowned before shaking his head.

"I have no idea what you kids think you're doing in this school. Back in my days, you wouldn't even dream of having a party before a training exercise. Since the party has already been planned, I'll be depending on you both to make sure that the other killers don't go too far. Watch out for them and keep them on a leash. If I hear that even one of them has a hangover this weekend, I'll have both your heads."

Jane nodded, and she turned to glance at Azrael in surprise when he nodded as well.

Jane had no idea that Azrael was going to be at the party, and she wondered how he got an invite.

As far as Jane knew, Azrael and Sunny were not on good terms at all, so the chances of Sunny inviting Azrael were very low.

Scar looked through the files that Jane handed to him once more time before he told both of them that they were free to go for lunch.

"Make sure to announce the teams to your classmates in your group chat. I'll see you later, killers."
