Chapter 125
My head feels dizzy.
Hmm... Since my head isn’t exactly the same as a human’s, it might be more accurate to say my “precious part” feels dizzy rather than my head.
Either way, the cause of this dizziness and strange pain is obvious, even without anyone telling me.
**[I’m hungry!] [Food! Food!] [There’s food ahead!] [It’s dark!] [Food! Food! Food!] **
A peculiar resonance reverberates in my head. If someone asked whether it’s a language I recognize, I would probably say no. Yet, the resonance conveys such meanings, buzzing persistently in my head.
The sentences aren’t long, mostly fragmentary, but what they desire seems clear for now.
Food in front of them. Occasionally, other words are whispered, but most of the time, it’s about food.
It must be referring to Kim Cheonsu and Hwangbo Yul. If they were born from absorbing the inner core of the toad, that assumption makes sense.
The problem is that I have no intention of fulfilling their wishes.
Regardless, the reason I’m experiencing a headache is because of the incessant voices yammering inside my head. It’s as though there are countless voices, enough to drive a human insane. If a god really exists and hears every prayer directed to them, would it feel like this? Though, unlike me, they’d likely endure verbose, grand prayers numbering in the billions. Assuming they’re listening, of course. If they are, it’s no wonder they don’t respond. With constant reverberations in their mind, even a god might struggle.
But I digress. I’ve never been a god, nor do I know if such beings exist. What’s important now is the shouting voices that are tormenting me.
Reflexively, I grab my head in an old human habit, but something feels off.
While I’m aware that clutching my head won’t help the pain, when I wave my hand, a strange sound reaches my ears.
Whoosh!
The sound cuts through the air like something immense.
“What was that?” I think to myself when, from “below,” Kim Cheonsu and Hwangbo Yul’s voices rise.
“Oh my god.”
**[Food!] [Food!] **
“...I didn’t see this coming.”
My field of vision—previously just about level with Kim Cheonsu’s waist—was now towering high. Their voices coming from so far below weren’t my imagination.
The voices echoing in my head make it difficult to hear what the two are saying, so I crouch down to bring my “precious part” closer to them.
And then:
Boom!
The sound of a massive impact resonates. Watching the two tiny figures panic is somewhat amusing, but this is when I finally realize how gigantic my body has become.
It takes a moment to grasp since, visually, nothing in my perspective seems to have changed much.
That’s because, even though my body has grown significantly, its proportions remain the same, making the increase in size less apparent.
As I crouch to listen to the two, my perspective finally aligns with theirs.
This makes me feel like a giant from a fairy tale—because, well, I am one now.
As I crouch, the two look up at me with slack jaws and vacant expressions.
Even so, their voices still seem faint, so I slowly reach out toward them. Moving gently so as not to alarm them, they flinch but don’t evade my hand.
...Seeing this makes me feel oddly warm and fuzzy inside.
When I open my palm, the two hesitate for a moment before climbing onto it. Is this what it feels like to be trusted? It’s strangely heartwarming.
As they approach closer to my face, another discordant resonance disrupts my moment of sentimentality.
**[Food!] [Wow!] [Food! Food! Food!] [Finally!] [We’ve waited long enough!] **
No, you lunatics, that’s not it.
Can you all please shut up?
As I shout internally, the shouting voices in my head quiet down as if someone pressed pause on a video.
...Why didn’t I try this earlier?
Though I don’t understand how this works, I’ve decided to stop questioning it. If it’s solved, that’s good enough.
But there’s another problem.
With the two still on my hand, my expression may have twisted involuntarily due to the racket in my head. They’re looking at me with a mix of confusion and concern.
I manage to manipulate the jelly on my face into a smile. At last, the two relax, releasing the tension in their bodies.
Hwangbo Yul murmurs while staring at my massive body.
“...So they've become one mass now.”
“Yeah, it seems like it.”
Hmm.
Come to think of it, our original goal was to gather the fragments and return them to where they belonged. But to them, it probably still seems like an impossible task.
After all, whether it’s a massive swarm of jelly or one giant jelly like me, it must seem equally daunting.
But my body is still jelly, even if it’s bigger.
...If I squeeze and compress myself, I might fit into a larger container, right? A big enough truck should work.
To convey this idea, I open my mouth unconsciously, but the moment I do:
Squelch!
The jelly in my mouth spills out noisily instead of words.
“Ahhhh!”
“...?!”
Naturally, the jelly engulfs Kim Cheonsu and Hwangbo Yul, leaving them buried under a pile of it.
The two glare at me, stunned, while I awkwardly fiddle with my jelly-like body in embarrassment.
What can I say? Old habits die hard.
I raise the palm not holding them and craft a model of a container truck and a jelly figure resembling myself.
Since I’ve already demonstrated my ability to shape tentacles and alter my body, I figure this should be doable. To my relief, it works.
Seeing the models appear, the two brush off the jelly clinging to them and approach with curious eyes.
“Oh...?”
“...Quite detailed.”
Kim Cheonsu voices admiration while Hwangbo Yul murmurs skeptically.
...Why does She look so doubtful?
Unable to read Hwangbo Yul’s mind, I move the jelly model to demonstrate my plan. I shove the oversized jelly model into the container, making my intention clear.
The two, being intelligent, nod in understanding.
“Now that you mention it, we managed to fit it in a smaller box to bring it here, so it might work.”
“Hmm... If it’s just one truck, it might be doable...”
However, the downside of this plan is obvious.
...I’ll have to be the one crammed into that tight container for the return journey, just like when we arrived.
But since there’s no other choice, I suppress my inner grumbling and flash a bright smile at the two.
Somewhere, I think I hear voices shouting **[Food!]** again, but I choose to ignore them.
Those crazy jelly creatures...
Perhaps they’re the normal ones, and I’m the odd one out. But since I’m their leader, I’ll set the rules.
Reflecting on the cries of the jelly left behind, I realize how precious and docile they were.
I miss them.
I need to return soon.
Even if it’s frustrating, I must endure.
With my resolve strengthened, everything else proceeds smoothly. All that’s left is for Hwangbo Yul to bring a sturdy container truck.
...And for me to cram my body into the open maw of that demonic container.
After stuffing myself with a considerable amount of food before departure, the voices shouting “Food!” die down entirely. It seems there’s hope for rehabilitation.
Fitting into the container turns out to be easier than expected. Since there’s no real reason for my body to maintain a human girl’s form, I simply distort and compress myself.
Still, the cramped space is just as uncomfortable as the box I arrived in.
“...So this actually works.”
“Let’s close it now. We have a long journey ahead.”
“Uh... Are you coming with us?”
“Of course.”
“...What?”
With their peculiar conversation, the container door shuts, plunging me into darkness.
The sudden silence feels a bit lonely, but before I indulge in such thoughts:
**[It’s full!] [It’s cramped!] [It’s dark!] **
Guys... could you—no, never mind. Just keep talking.
At least they’re no longer calling humans “food,” so it’s somewhat tolerable.
Even if the content is meaningless.
Regardless, our journey back home has begun.
It’s dull.
I wish there were at least a window to look through.
