Chapter 760 The Woman Who Drinks
Lin Shen felt that the beginning of the book made a lot of sense, but when it came to the specifics of the operation, it seemed less reliable.
Various shady and unreliable methods were endlessly paraded inside, like writing a little note, enclosing a dollar bill inside and tossing it to the ground, saying that anyone who picked up this dollar would have ten years of their lifespan borrowed, and this dollar would be their life-buying money.
Thus, the person who picked up the note would sell ten years of their lifespan.
Methods like these were dime a dozen in the Celestial Five Declines Technique, and this was considered minor mischief.
There was also a "Luck Borrowing Method", where one would find a person with good fortune, then use a special technique to form a fate-sharing bond with them, enabling the borrowing of their Qi Fortune thereafter.
That person's luck would become your luck, and the harder they cultivated, the worse it would get for them, while you could simply lie down, and your cultivation ability would skyrocket.
The harder they trained, the stronger you would become, while they would just get worse and worse.
Lin Shen read these stories with relish, not believing in their truthfulness at all. If such good fortune truly existed, who in their right mind would toil and train diligently? One could just find a lucky and hardworking person to form a fate-sharing bond with.
The book was full of bizarre and shady ideas that made Lin Shen marvel at the boundless imagination of the author.
Although these ideas might be useless, reading them was still entertaining, filling Lin Shen's leisure time on the journey.
After arriving at Diman Star, there wasn't the anticipated hostilities. Diplomats from the Diman Tribe received the Celestial Race's delegation without causing trouble and arranged their accommodation at a hotel where delegates from various races stayed.
Not only the Celestial Race's delegates were there, but many other races' delegations as well.
With the Diman Tribe sitting high at third place in the racial rankings, many races wished to befriend them. Their Ministry of Foreign Affairs was extremely busy. After arranging accommodations for Lin Shen and his group, the ministry officials departed, leaving only two staff members to coordinate the subsequent schedules.
Lin Shen was not involved in these things, as the delegation had someone in charge.
Lin Shen and Ouyang Yudu proceeded directly to the hotel's restaurant to grab something to eat first.
The hotel indeed had high standards, with several distinct dining areas including a bar-like section where beautiful ladies from various races performed their singing in rotation.
There were also private rooms for conversation and networking.
There was a buffet, and it was also possible to order à la carte. Everything about the hotel's food and accommodations was complimentary, showcasing the grandeur of a great race.
When Lin Shen and his companions arrived at the music restaurant area, they saw a sexy red-haired woman from the Diman Tribe singing onstage.
Her demeanor was languid, her gaze was hazy, and as her waist gently twisted, her enchanting voice flowed out.
Lin Shen and the others were not interested in listening to music, so after leaving the music restaurant, they found a quiet spot with few people to order some food and chat.
As they passed a row of semi-private rooms, Lin Shen glanced inside unintentionally and suddenly stopped in his tracks.
Inside one of those rooms, Lin Shen spotted what appeared to be a humanoid mosaic.
"There's actually a Fire Seed here!" Lin Shen was overjoyed and decided to first ascertain who the person was so he could approach her later.
"You guys go ahead, I'll be right there," Lin Shen told Ouyang Yudu and the others to go ahead and find an unoccupied room to order some food, while he headed towards the semi-open private room.
Approaching the entrance of the private room, Lin Shen knocked at the edge since there was no door, to draw the occupant's attention.
"Hello, may I disturb you for two minutes?" Lin Shen tried to appear as harmless as possible, his face lit with a sunny and benign smile.
"I can't." A woman's voice reached Lin Shen's ears, and with the mosaic-blurred silhouette, she was undoubtedly a beauty. Explore more adventures at My Virtual Library Empire
Lin Shen had anticipated this; after all, women who possessed the Heaven Defying Bone Fire Seed never seemed ugly.
Rejected by the woman, Lin Shen had no choice but to turn and leave. People usually hit on him, so he lacked the experience of hitting on others.
Being refused so straightforwardly by a woman, Lin Shen could only slink away, planning to find a waiter and pay for information about this mysterious lady's background.
"I'm lacking a drinking buddy here. If you want a drink, come on in," said the woman inside, just as Lin Shen was about to walk away.
Overjoyed, Lin Shen thought, "Tian Xin that kid, although unreliable, sometimes speaks sense. He said when a woman says no, she means yes. I didn't believe it before, but it turns out to be true."@@novelbin@@
"Hello... I am..." As Lin Shen approached the woman who was half-reclining on the sofa with a wine glass in hand, intending to introduce himself, she cut him off.
"Are you here to drink? If so, drink up first." The woman pointed to the bottle and glass on the coffee table.
Lin Shen had no choice but to pick up the bottle and pour himself a glass. He raised his glass to the woman, said nothing, and downed it in one gulp.
He wasn't afraid that the woman might have tampered with the drink or poisoned it; such tricks were useless against him.
Besides, it was a spur-of-the-moment decision for him; the woman couldn't have foreseen his arrival and planned anything against him.
After emptying the glass, Lin Shen poured another full one and raised it to the woman, asking, "How may I address you?"
"You want my name? One drink isn't enough," the woman said with interest, looking at Lin Shen.
"Then how many drinks do you think are appropriate?" Lin Shen retorted.
"That depends on how much you value my name," the woman effortlessly lobbed the question back to Lin Shen.
"Let's just drink slowly then, or we'll never finish all this liquor in our lifetime," Lin Shen sat down, no longer inquiring about the woman's name.
The woman laughed, "I didn't expect the Dean of the Celestial Master Institute to be not only skilled in martial arts but also sharp-witted."
"You know who I am, but I don't know you. Isn't that a bit unfair?" Lin Shen remarked.
"If you want fairness, then let's drink. Once I'm drunk, any kind of fairness is possible," the woman said as she raised her glass to Lin Shen.
"When will you get drunk?" Lin Shen clinked glasses with her. Seeing the woman down her drink in one go, he resigned himself to do the same.
"When I get drunk depends on who I'm drinking with. With some, I might be drunk after one glass. With others, I might never get drunk no matter how much I drink," said the woman as she casually opened another bottle, poured herself a glass, and then filled Lin Shen's glass too.
"Which type am I?" Lin Shen inquired.
"We're already on the second glass," the woman said as she brought her glass to Lin Shen's.
"So, I don't stand a chance then?" Lin Shen touched glasses with her and sighed.
"Not necessarily. You can try. Maybe I'll get drunk after a while?" the woman suggested, placing the glass to her lips and sipping slowly. Though she never hurried, her lips never left the glass, and she finished it eventually.
Lin Shen and the woman continued their drinking game, her words scarce, but every sentence seemed to put him at a disadvantage.
The woman looked at Lin Shen downing glass after glass, her eyes curving into crescents. Initially, she thought Lin Shen was pretending not to recognize her, but now it seemed he truly didn't know her.
"This man... doesn't even recognize his own enemy..." Catherine slowly sipped her wine, her eyes amusingly observing Lin Shen.
What do you think?
