Chapter 762 Successor of the Thousand Men's Pointer
Catherine wasn't in a hurry. The "Heavenly Demon Heart Bewitchment Technique" was, after all, a skill meant for slowly stirring emotions. She had absolute confidence in herself, convinced that Lin Shen would gradually succumb to it.
So Catherine wasn't anxious at all, simply showing off her beauty and uniqueness in every gesture and movement.
One by one, she changed into various gowns, effortlessly mastering every style and displaying different kinds of beauty.
There was the sexy enchantress, the pure intellectual, the fiery red lips, the noble and distant ice queen.
With so many charms, there was bound to be one that men would adore.@@novelbin@@
But gradually, Catherine started to feel astonished.
She had used the "Heavenly Demon Heart Bewitchment Technique" to its limits and, coupled with her own beauty and temperament, even a monk devoted to ascetic cultivation should have felt some stirring in his heart.
Yet Lin Shen's demeanor, although he always seemed utterly fascinated and full of admiration, made Catherine feel that his true emotions hadn't changed at all, as still as an ancient well, without a single ripple. Your journey continues on My Virtual Library Empire
"It seems I must use that battle robe." Catherine felt indignant inside. How could Lin Shen remain indifferent? This was simply an insult to her.
When Catherine, wearing her most prized battle robe, stood in front of Lin Shen, her mood shifted from initial confidence to discomfort, then to unease, and finally, she felt almost a need to flee. She hastily returned to the dressing room and changed out of the robe that had given her the greatest satisfaction.
"Damn humans, he must be pretending not to recognize me, actually knowing full well that I am his enemy. Who knows how much he detests me in his heart, otherwise how could he show no reaction at all?" Catherine had not sensed even the slightest change in Lin Shen's heartbeat earlier.
She refused to believe Lin Shen's disposition could be so resilient. Clearly, it was a charm that would make even a Saint's heart skip. How could Lin Shen's heart be purer than that of a Saint?
Lin Shen's heart was, of course, not that pure. If he could have seen, he might have had a nosebleed by now.
Unfortunately, he truly couldn't see anything, so desiring to be moved was impossible.
Catherine changed back into her original attire and walked up to Lin Shen, looking down with superiority at him sitting on the bench.
"This one is the best." Lin Shen, thinking Catherine had finally made up her mind to choose this outfit, casually remarked.
He couldn't see that this was the same attire Catherine had worn when they had drinks together before. Whatever clothing she wore, Lin Shen only saw a mosaic.
"Is this one really the best?" Catherine revealed an enchanting smile on her face, but inside she felt like she wanted to tear Lin Shen apart, limb from limb.
Lin Shen had not even remembered what she had worn before. To what extent was she being disregarded by him?
"Beyond compare," Lin Shen praised earnestly.
He remembered someone advising him to always compliment the last outfit a woman shows off.
"Then it's settled," Catherine said and sat down beside Lin Shen, draping her arm over his shoulder.
Just as Lin Shen was about to speak, he suddenly saw a delicate little knife in Catherine's hand, pressed against his neck.
"Lin Shen, are you going to keep up this act?" Catherine was angry now. She didn't want to continue this game any longer, which made her feel both bored and even somewhat insulted.
"Pretend what?" Lin Shen asked, puzzled.
The woman recognized him, but Lin Shen was not surprised; it would be stranger if she didn't.
Lin Shen was also not afraid. If Catherine were to confront him barehanded, he might have been a little scared, but facing him with a weapon made from Base Mutation materials was so minimally threatening to Lin Shen as to be pitiful.
"Do we still need to pretend? I'd like to see how long you can keep it up," Catherine said without hesitation as she slashed down, but she didn't actually touch Lin Shen's neck. The knife's blade was still a tiny distance from his skin, though the movement looked somewhat frightening.
Lin Shen now represented the Celestial Race, and if he died here inexplicably, Catherine would have no way to explain it.
She just wanted to scare Lin Shen, but he had no reaction at all, still quietly looking at her, which made her earlier action seem somewhat ridiculous.
"Do you really think I wouldn't dare to kill you?" Catherine's eyes looked somewhat peculiar, reflecting that her last move had been very realistic. In that sudden situation, Lin Shen didn't even blink, which spoke to considerable nerve.
"Of course you dare, but why would you want to kill me?" Lin Shen asked in bewilderment. "I haven't offended you in any way from the beginning, have I?"
"Does he truly not recognize me?" Catherine slightly furrowed her brow, beginning to doubt her earlier judgment.
"Or perhaps we have crossed paths before? Could you tell me your name?" Lin Shen continued.
The small knife in Catherine's hand disappeared without a trace, but now she held a black crystal coin: "Your Pistol Killing Skill is renowned throughout the cosmos, so your Finger Skill must be extraordinary. If you can take this coin from my hand, I will tell you my name."
Although Catherine thought Lin Shen might genuinely not recognize her, she couldn't suppress the resentment in her heart. She could not kill Lin Shen, but she still wanted to make him suffer a little.
"For your esteemed name, I must also commit this slight offense," Lin Shen reached out to pinch the coin held between Catherine's fingers.
Catherine's fingers moved in intricate patterns, conjuring in Lin Shen a sense of familiarity.
"Demon Heart Finger!" Lin Shen was somewhat surprised to find that this woman actually knew Demon Heart Finger.
His fingers continuously moved against Catherine's, vying for the coin between her fingers. Catherine was shocked to discover that not only was Lin Shen's Finger Skill formidable, but each move also countered her Demon Heart Finger, rendering her unable to leverage its advantages.
Forget teaching Lin Shen a lesson—after only a few moves, Catherine was forced to stand up and retreat; otherwise, her coin would have been pinched away by Lin Shen.
"What is this Finger Skill?" Catherine asked, her brow furrowed as she stared at Lin Shen.
Lin Shen's Finger Skill reminded her of Demon Heart Finger, but it was not the same and could counter Demon Heart Finger, seemingly the nemesis of Demon Heart Finger.
"Just some Finger Skill I practiced casually, hardly worth mentioning," Lin Shen knew she was deliberately preventing him from taking the coin and was starting to play dirty. Continuing would only make both parties uncomfortable, so better to leave now and maintain some dignity. Perhaps there would be a chance to make amends next time.
If they really came to blows, there would likely be no opportunity left in the future.
Catherine watched Lin Shen stand up and leave, but she didn't stop him. Instead, she stared at his retreating figure and said, "Is your Finger Skill called Thousand Men's Pointer?"
"You know of this Finger Skill?" Lin Shen paused in his steps and turned to look at Catherine.
He had always wanted to understand the origin of Thousand Men's Pointer and the Ancient City, but despite asking many people, no one seemed to know this skill.
As for Demon Heart Finger, quite a few knew of it.
"It's really Thousand Men's Pointer? Are you a descendant of Zhong Buheng?" Catherine's expression became oddly serious.
What do you think?
