Chapter 23: Chapter 21: Chaos and Turbulence Chapter 23: Chapter 21: Chaos and Turbulence Dongfang Tang knew that the young girl was there just to create obstacles.

It seemed Qiao Haoyu also wanted to make a good impression on Guo Yuqing, but how could Jiang Shizi not know what kind of person Haoyu was.

“Ah, stop talking so much and hurry up and eat,” said Haoyu. “After we finish dinner, you have to see the fireworks I prepared for you.”

“Fireworks, Yuqing watched them last night, too. Watching them every night can get tiring, you know,” Jiang Shizi said with a laugh.

“Our display is going to be more spectacular than last night’s,” Dongfang Tang chimed in. “How could theirs even compare?”

“Before it even starts, you’re already claiming it’s more impressive than the ones from last night.”

“Hey, wait a bit and you’ll know everything,” Haoyu responded, continuing, “Hurry up, it’s almost dinner time.”

Haoyu began introducing her to the people inside.

Shizi said, “This is not what I was expecting.”

“What’s different?” Haoyu asked.

“It’s unusually quiet. I thought there would be a crowd.”

“I’ve decided to change myself today. Is there a problem with that?” Haoyu replied.

“When you say you’ve decided to change, you better not be implying it’s because of Qing’er.”

“You guessed it – for the sake of Yuqing, I can correct all my bad habits and re-establish myself as a better man. Give me a chance!”

“Isn’t that a bit dramatic?” Shizi firmly disagreed.

“Let it be witnessed by you!”

“Haha, don’t involve me, I can’t spare the effort,” Jiang Shizi said lightly.

“Are you not interested in seeing a real change?”

“Haha, stop teasing me. If I’m free, I would rather get more sleep.”

“It’s just acting as a witness.”

Yuqing said, “Stop it! If you keep saying that, I’ll leave.”

“Hey, why leave?” Haoyu answered.

“I can’t handle this.”

“What can’t you handle? I am ready to change for you.”

Jiang Shizi scoffed at this.

“Shizi, do you not believe my words?” Haoyu asked.

“Haha, it doesn’t matter whether I believe or not.”

“Who says? I’m going to start tonight. I’m going to change for the better, become a real man, all for Yuqing.”

“So, you’re implying you weren’t a real man in the past.”

“Oh, stop getting caught up with word games.”

“Can we eat now?” Yuqing asked, getting a bit nervous.

“Alright, let’s eat.” The food from the other side began to arrive. It was getting dark, and Dongfang Tang started covering for Haoyu.

Shizi was only focused on her own stomach. Others might not know what type of person Haoyu was, but how could she not?

“As long as you’re willing, I can do anything for you.”

Hearing this, almost spat out the food she was chewing. “Can you please wait until I finish eating before continuing with your declarations?”

It was getting dark, and the lanterns underneath the eaves began to light up.

Suddenly, there was a loud chirping sound. It was Yuan Jingxing making it.

Zhan Ze immediately woke up the nearly unconscious Ye Chen, shouting, “Ye Chen, wake up, stop sleeping.”

Ye Chen looked around. It was already dark outside.

“Hurry up.” Young Master Ze was already standing up.

The two were like shadows, rushing to the corner. Ye Chen sobered up a bit.

Zhan Ze then said, “Alright, Ye Chen, you light the firecrackers.”

Ye Chen nodded in agreement.

“Remember, when we give you a signal, you fire it. Startle the watchdogs, don’t fall asleep, got it?”

“Yep, understood.”

“When it’s time, don’t aim at us, got it?”

“Rest assured, I’m not cross-eyed.”

“Good that you’re not cross-eyed. Aim at those watchdogs. Prepare quickly and wait for my signal.” Young Master Ze said as he ran to the other side. Ye Chen quickly took out the lighter for the firecrackers.

Zhan Ze went to the other side to meet Ren Haotian and Yuan Jingxing.

“How is it?”

“Don’t worry, in half an hour, everyone will arrive.” Ren Haotian answered.

“That’s fantastic.”

As expected, two people hurrying over from the other side. Tonight, the lanterns at Haoyu’s house were exceptionally bright.

“Did you tell them?” Ze asked.

“We’ve notified them all.” Haotian confirmed.

“Guess it’s time to truly reveal that despicable person’s true colors. Just thinking about what happened at noon gets me angry. He needs a solid reprimand.”

“Alright, you two quickly get ready to help usher them in.”

Haotian and Jingxing approached.

Soon, three girls appeared and started heading towards them. Haoyu and Jingxing rushed over to intercept them.

Another cry of a pheasant, mimicked by Zhan Ze, rang out.

Ye Chen swiftly pulled out a string of firecrackers, lit it and tossed it. It flew over like a large meat bun. He didn’t dare to throw it directly at people, so he aimed instead. The other persons could not react in time, not knowing what was happening.

The firecrackers suddenly started popping furiously, exploding amidst the crowd of gatekeepers.

“Damn it, who’s such a bastard?” The gatekeepers scrambled to avoid the flying sparks.

Zhan Ze quickly ran over and threw two more lit strings of firecrackers. He was not as timid.

“Lacking in morals, huh? I’ll blow you up! See where you can run to.” Zhan Ze instantly threw another several strings. Two men seemed to spot where the firecrackers were coming from and were about to investigate. However, the dense rain of firecrackers forced them to retreat. The smoke was so thick that you couldn’t see your hand in front of you. They had no idea what was happening.

Instinctively, the gatekeepers scattered.

Amid the chaotic yells, Haotian and Jingxing rushed in and jammed the gates open, allowing the three girls to swarm in. Those who wanted to block them were driven back by another wave of firecrackers. A few girls surged in; even those who didn’t plan to go in were also pushed in.

“Everyone in?” Zhan Ze asked.

“All in. The real fun starts now.” Jingxing chuckled.

They quickly retreated to the shelter of a nearby peach tree, waiting to see when Yu Qing and the others would come out.

Haoyu asked Dongfang Tang, “What’s happening outside? Why are there firecrackers? I didn’t instruct them to set any off.”

Dongfang Tang was also baffled, “I’ll go check it out.”

“You better hurry.”

Before Dongfang Tang could step outside, three girls rushed in.

Dongfang Tang tried to intercept them but was caught off guard. One of the girls quipped, “Yo, throwing a big party and feast tonight and you didn’t invite me?”

“That’s not the case, who said we are having a big feast?” Dongfang Tang tried to stop them.

“Is that so? Once we get in, we’ll know everything.”

Dongfang Tang was completely clueless and wanted to block them.

Another girl said, “I heard Master Yu found a really beautiful girl and wants to turn over a new leaf just for her. I’d like to see what kind angel she is.”

“Who said that? That’s not true. Haoyu is not inside,” he tried to block the entrance.

“You don’t want to let us in, huh?” With a swift kick and an intimidating glare, they easily pushed past Dongfang Tang, who fell backwards.

Pain surged through him as he yelled, “You six bastards, the only job you had was to guard the gate. How did you let them in?”

One of them jumped startled, “We don’t know where the firecrackers came from. They were exploding everywhere, scaring us all the way back into the courtyard. We didn’t react in time, and they seized the opportunity to rush in.”

“Damn it, who’s setting off firecrackers in the middle of the night?” Dongfang Tang got up and rushed into the house.

Haoyu just wanted to make his solemn vow to move Qing’er, but now three girls had barged in.

All the words he wanted to say were stuck in his throat, and he couldn’t utter anything. The situation was indeed awkward.

One of the girls asked, “This is really romantic. With such an arrangement, is tonight for getting engaged or consummating the relationship?”

Shizi burst into laughter. “Haoyu mentioned that he wanted to turn over a new leaf and make a clean break with his past life.”

“Really? Why didn’t you tell me? You should have told us!”

“Who invited you here?” Haoyu asked.

“Aren’t we allowed to come?” A girl responded fiercely, clearly showing her domineering personality.

Haoyu awkwardly said, “Of course, you’re welcome to come.”

The others quickly made way for them.

The atmosphere was awkward, and no one knew what to say.

Everyone was stunned into silence.

Yu Qing quickly realized it.

Shizi said, “Oh, so there’s an encore. I won’t disturb your fun. Have a great time. Master Yu even prepared fireworks.” She nudged Yu Qing forward.

Yu Qing quickly got up and said, “You guys are mistaken. Haoyu and I are just friends. I’m genuinely happy to meet all of you. I’m full, thank you for treating us so well tonight, the food was great, and the girls are gorgeous…”
“Yu Qing… I…” Haoyu wanted to say something.

Only to hear Yu Qing say, “I understand, I really do.”

Helped by Shizi, the two quickly darted outside, leaving laughter behind them.

“Oh, they finally came out.” Jingxing said.

Shizi was still laughing. It must have been quite lively. Although they could not hear the insides clearly, one could guess what was happening.

“I guess we now know what kind of person he is.” Haotian said.

Zhan Ze asked Ye Chen, “Are there any more firecrackers?”

“We have a few strings left.”

“We should fully embrace the farce! Follow me. We’ll add a bit of festive atmosphere. It wouldn’t be lively without some firecrackers causing havoc.”

“What are you doing?” Ye Chen asked.

“Just follow me.”

Young Master Ze immediately led the three of them around to the back of the courtyard, a wall away from the house, close enough to hear the commotion inside.

Ren Haotian said, “Looks like it’s working. It’s really lively. That’s how a grand party should be.”

Jingxing listened intensively, curious about what they were saying.
