Chapter 234: Chapter 132 Searching for Enemy Tracks_3
The drone, while swiftly flying, made use of the Quantum Radar to scan for ground targets. It evaded various radar tracking with the help of ground structures and the mountain’s barrier, and since it was night, no ground observation posts laid out on the ground could spot the silhouette of the drone. Coupled with the drone’s Quantum Radar scanning, it was able to detect residential settlements and battle fortresses on the ground early on to avoid these airspaces in advance.
Therefore, despite the low-altitude flight of the drone, its Flight Speed was very fast. In less than half an hour, it had passed the Euphrates River without any obstruction and approached the estimated vicinity of the Al-Assassin Sect Headquarters near the border between Syria and Iraq.
Upon reaching this area, Yan Fei saw nothing but continuous peaks in his vision. However, these peaks were all yellowish-brown and barren with few signs of vegetation, leaving no trace of a snow-covered mountain.
After piloting the drone around for several circles, Yan Fei failed to find the existence of Daxue Mountain. He then expanded his search radius yet still could not locate Daxue Mountain nearby. He began to doubt; this is the Middle East, where the climate is hot, and precipitation low, it logically wouldn’t have snow-covered mountains in this season. So what’s the deal with this so-called Daxue Mountain? Could it be a unique appellation for wintertime? Could the real Daxue Mountain be among the mountains below, just without a cover of heavy snow at the moment?
After pondering for a moment, the drone abruptly ascended to an altitude of thirty thousand meters and initiated the Quantum Radar for a comprehensive scan of the surroundings. The Quantum Radar consumed Energy Points rapidly at full power, causing Yan Fei to wince at the swift depletion. The scan revealed the ground conditions within a thousand-kilometer radius in the Auxiliary Brain’s Database.
When the data scan finished, the drone immediately lowered the power of the Quantum Radar and descended from thirty thousand meters back to its original altitude. Although this maneuver was quick, it may have been detected by other Forces’ radars, but the interval was so brief that by the time those radars attempted to lock on, the drone had already dropped to its initial altitude and vanished from their scopes.
...
It was this scan that provided Yan Fei with an intimate understanding of the conditions within a thousand-kilometer radius. From the data gathered, he observed that the mountains below had almost no human presence, with only a few other animal life forms present. However, this did not conclusively mean there were no people in the mountains—they could be living inside caves within the mountains. Although the Quantum Radar had been Upgraded, it couldn’t penetrate rock and dirt very deeply and therefore could not confirm whether the Headquarters of the Assassin Sect were not beneath.
Even though now it was late at night, and the surroundings were pitch-black, the Quantum Radar, despite its amazing capabilities, could not produce specific images, therefore, it was unable to detect any traces of human activity in the mountains below.
Yet at the outer reaches of this massive mountain range, the Quantum Radar detected a significant amount of human activity. Especially in a valley to the south side, about one hundred and fifty kilometers away, there appeared to be a large congregation of personnel.
After analyzing the Intelligence obtained, Yan Fei decided to investigate that valley. The information he had received previously was insufficient, and the estimated location of the Assassin Sect Headquarters might be erroneous. Given that the Assassin Sect was not small in size, if their Headquarters wasn’t in these mountains, the distant valley was a likely suspect.
The drone sped towards the valley, reaching its vicinity in just a few minutes. Both sides of the valley were cliffs, but the middle was a flat sandy area. Without entering the valley, one could hardly realize there was such a vast plain inside, which was indeed a testament to the creator’s amazing work.
Although it was late at night, the valley was lit up brightly. Around the periphery of the valley, hundreds of large Transport Vehicles covered with tarps and filled with unknown materials were parked, forming a huge circle. Within that circle were over ten tanks and armored vehicles, and at the very center, there were two Transport Helicopters parked. Beside the helicopters was a new tent that had been set up not long ago.
Next to these vehicles and Weapon equipment, several large bonfires were lit, their flames reaching high into the sky. Around a thousand soldiers in tattered Military Uniforms were gathered, sitting on the ground and eating meat voraciously, although their expressions seemed somewhat vacant. On several high points around the cliff adjacent to the valley, a few snipers and scouts were hidden.
As soon as Yan Fei saw those tanks, armored vehicles, and helicopters, he was greatly disappointed because he realized they all belonged to the current equipment of the US Forces. The tanks were the US Army’s M1A2 main battle tanks, the armored vehicles were the active-duty Strykers, and as for the two Transport Helicopters, they were the Chinook transport helicopters that the drone had shot down three times before. Near that central tent, he also spotted soldiers in US Military Uniforms on guard. As soon as he saw the US Army’s weapons and soldiers, he immediately knew this was not the Headquarters of the Al-Assassin Sect he had hoped for. However, this area was not under American control, and he wondered what they were doing here.
Yan Fei, not finding the Assassin Sect Headquarters here, felt a bit disappointed and was about to quietly leave the area when he noticed several men wearing red helmets entering the tent near the center. His heart stirred, and he abandoned the plan to leave, instead taking control of the drone to stealthily approach the valley. He then avoided the sight of the snipers and scouts on high points, concealing the drone under an overhanging boulder within the furthest range for audio and visual data collection. He let the drone hover there, silently gathering sounds and images from inside the tent.
The tent might block the sight of ordinary humans, but it couldn’t stop the penetrating power of the Quantum Radar. With the Quantum Radar’s ability combined with the drone’s frightening sound collection capabilities, along with a hole in the tent facing the drone, the real-time images inside the tent appeared right before Yan Fei’s eyes.
