Chapter 249: Chapter 141: Everyone Uses Their Own Strategies

Yan Fei instinctively fired his gun towards the source of the noise. The 12.7-millimeter bullets caused stone chips to fly everywhere, but no enemy was found there. Yan Fei sensed something was amiss, when he heard a whooshing sound behind him. He turned around, the heavy machine gun firing at full speed, only to see a flying corpse hurling towards him. Under the barrage of bullets from the heavy machine gun, the corpse instantly turned into a pile of mush.

At that moment, beneath the corpse, the glint of a blade flashed—a scimitar, shimmering with a cold light, suddenly appeared, slashing towards Yan Fei like lightning. Caught off-guard, Yan Fei found the scimitar invading his personal space; at such a close distance, the heavy machine gun could no longer continue firing. He immediately swung the heavy machine gun horizontally to block the scimitar. With a “shriek,” a teeth-grinding noise was heard as the scimitar cut the barrel of the heavy machine gun in half.

How could a thin scimitar possibly sever the barrel of a heavy machine gun made of fine steel? The thought itself was somewhat incredible. However, after slicing through the machine gun barrel, the scimitar too broke in half, succumbing to mutual destruction.

Yan Fei, having been suddenly attacked, blocked the first wave and quickly retreated, throwing away the damaged heavy machine gun in his hand. Within such a close range, a machine gun with a broken barrel was less useful than a scimitar. Then he saw a figure suddenly appear in front of him. The figure also discarded the broken scimitar, and a fist large as a bowl hammered towards Yan Fei’s face.

Only at this point did Yan Fei realize that his stealthy assailant was the missing bearded man. Initially, the bearded man had hidden in a secret compartment behind his seat when he heard the roar of the machine gun, suspecting trouble. He waited for Yan Fei’s bullets to run out before jumping out for his countermovement.

Before his counterattack, the bearded man, familiar with the house’s layout, had pressed a hidden button, creating a noise on the other side of the room to distract Yan Fei, then pounced out, using a corpse as cover, and managed to cut the heavy machine gun barrel with a scimitar. Finally, he closed in on Yan Fei and launched a fierce assault, gaining back a slight advantage.

...

Seeing the bearded man, new hatred and old grudges surged in Yan Fei’s heart. His fighting spirit ignited, he steadied himself in a horse stance, rallied all his strength, and also threw a punch out. Their fists met in the air, creating an invisible disturbance. This disturbance spread, stirring up a wave of dust on the floor of the room. Then, a “crack, crack” sound came from their arms, followed by simultaneous grunts. Both men were then thrown backward, smashing harshly against the solid rocks behind them.

Yan Fei, slammed into the rock wall, found himself completely drained. Enduring the pain, he began adjusting his bodily organs, gradually regaining his strength. Then, he was somewhat shocked. His physical condition had strengthened multiple times due to Drone’s upgrades, so his bodily strength was on par with any Innate Expert. Later, when Yan Fei became an Innate Expert, he had doubled his physical condition again, while others had no room for such an increase upon reaching Innate status. Thus, his strength was now at least twice that of other Innate Experts.

After becoming an Innate Expert, Yan Fei started to integrate all his bodily strength, able to unleash more than 80% of it in a single strike. Hence, he was very confident in his strength, considering himself the strongest within the Innate realm. However, upon clashing with this bearded man, he found his opponent’s power also immensely great. The direct contest sent Yan Fei flying, even causing a state of exhaustion.

Yan Fei’s shock was nothing compared to the bearded man’s astonishment. Born with immense strength and a high innate martial talent, the bearded man had long reached the Innate realm and was close to integrating all his power into one, nearing the Innate Peak. Except for the Sect’s leader, Old Man of the Mountains Huo Shan, no one could withstand his full-force strike, which bolstered his confidence, and that was why he decided to clash head-on with Yan Fei.

But to the bearded man’s surprise, this man who suddenly appeared and claimed to be the “Destroyer” was actually able to withstand his full-force blow. Moreover, the “Destroyer’s” full-force counterattack had left him feeling weak internally. But with a surge of his energy, his strength slowly recovered as well.

With this initial clash, they both understood each other’s strength; they were equal matches for each other. Both parties were somewhat wary of the other’s strength and didn’t dare to act rashly. They leaned against the stone wall to restore their energy. Right then, loud shouts of the Black Robe warriors were heard from outside the stone chamber—their group had finally discovered something amiss and were quickly congregating to rush in and investigate.

Upon hearing the commotion of the Black Robe warriors outside, Yan Fei grew anxious. If it were before, he wouldn’t have been concerned about these Black Robe warriors. However, with the significant threat posed by the bearded man, if the warriors’ weapons were added to the mix, his situation would become extremely dire.

The bearded man had hidden when Yan Fei began firing with the dual-purpose machine gun, so he hadn’t had time to check the current situation in the room. While catching his breath, he noticed that all of the Assassin Sect’s elite forces in the stone chamber had been killed, with no one else surviving but himself. With the death of these high-ups, the Assassin Sect was essentially finished, in name only.

The bearded man felt a deep sorrow and rage. Seeing Yan Fei distracted by the Black Robe warriors outside, he suddenly performed a forward roll, moving to another side of the stone wall. He pressed his hand against it and pulled out a sharp scimitar from the crack, then slashed at Yan Fei with the speed of lightning.

Yan Fei picked up a shield that had fallen to the ground and instantly placed it in front of him. The scimitar struck the shield with a “ding” of a dull thud. Then, to Yan Fei’s disbelief, the Fine Steel Shield was pierced by the scimitar, which continued its trajectory toward his chest.

Yan Fei twisted his hands, and the fine steel shield in his grasp spun 360 degrees, snagging the scimitar then, with a forceful pull, the shield and the scimitar were sent flying together, landing far away on the ground.

At that moment, the black-robed warriors outside the house finally broke in. Yan Fei, having bought himself time, immediately picked up the broken heavy machine gun from the ground and opened fire on the black-robed warriors storming in. Although the gun barrel was damaged, it did not affect the bullets’ discharge, only greatly impairing accuracy. However, at such a close range, accuracy was not a concern.

As the black-robed warriors burst in, before they could get a clear view of the room, they were greeted by a barrage of large caliber bullets flying haphazardly. Once hit, their bodies completely disintegrated; either torn in half or turned into a mess of flesh, dead beyond doubt.

The bearded man, witnessing the ferocity of Yan Fei’s heavy machine gun, showed a worried expression. As a pure martial artist, he subconsciously disdained high-tech weapons, reluctant to use firearms, feeling it was an insult to their beliefs. However, when faced with these high-tech weapons slaughtering his warriors, he felt deep fear and began to question whether his past persistence was correct…

Seeing Yan Fei take down the black-robed warriors who had just charged in and then aim the heavy machine gun at himself, the bearded man instantly sensed danger. He quickly bent down, grabbed the stone chair beneath him with force, lifted it, and used it as a shield in front of him.

Bullets from Yan Fei’s heavy machine gun came flying, and the sound of bullets colliding with stone was intense. However, the stone chair was incredibly sturdy, managing to withstand the heavy machine gun bullets’ assault with only minor chips taken off, displaying its amazing hardness.

This barrage depleted the heavy machine gun’s ammunition, and just as Yan Fei was about to reload, several smoking hand grenades were thrown into the stone chamber from outside. The bearded man, noticing Yan Fei’s movement, hurled the stone chair at Yan Fei and lunged for him.

Yan Fei noticed the smoking hand grenades in the air. In a flash of inspiration, he quickly accessed the Universal Space, and when the grenades neared him, he drew them into the Universal Space. Then, he turned around, pointed, shouted “Catch!” and swiftly hurled the hand grenades from the Universal Space. The grenades, now targeting the bearded man, and Yan Fei quickly dodged the incoming stone chair.

The bearded man was shocked to see hand grenades appear out of nowhere and fly towards him. He couldn’t comprehend how the grenades, initially aimed at Yan Fei, were now heading his way. However, before he could react, the grenades exploded violently, enveloping the bearded man in the blast. The stone chamber was suddenly filled with a massive explosion, accompanied by clouds of smoke and flames, and shock waves from the explosion echoed throughout.

The hand grenades exploded just before hitting the bearded man, injuring him, but the damage seemed not to be severe. After the explosion, the bearded man was still jumping around lively; knowing how difficult Yan Fei was to handle, he did not attack again but instead turned and ran out of the stone chamber.

Once the dust in the room settled, Yan Fei realized the bearded man had vanished. Besides himself, the room was left with only the corpses of the Assassin Sect experts he had killed.

Then, Yan Fei heard the bearded man outside shouting loudly, ordering the black-robed warriors to move all the available light and heavy weapons to the area and blockade the stone door, determined to trap Yan Fei in the stone chamber.

Yan Fei quickly grabbed a corpse from the floor and tossed it outside the door. Immediately, deafening gunfire resounded, countless bullets hit the body, tearing it to shreds.
