Chapter 326: Chapter 173: Mission Impossible Reversed_3
The trio of thieves pressed forward, with the technician, Kitty, helping them to navigate the way and avoid the patrolling guards. At the same time, she was clearing their tracks. They quickly entered the core area of the Louvre Museum.
The Louvre Museum held a long-standing tradition, but in recent years, it began to rely excessively on the power of technology, with all security measures intertwined with the latest technology. Although these high-tech solutions reduced the security pressure of the Louvre, their overreliance on technology also made them lose their basic vigilance. Astonishingly, a rookie group of thieves had infiltrated the core area without their knowledge.
Yan Fei followed the group of three thieves from a distance. The trio of thieves had fought their way through several checkpoints and finally arrived at the gallery displaying the “Mona Lisa.” Sean sounded a bit nervous, “Kitty, we’ve seen the ‘Mona Lisa.’ Are you sure all the traps inside are really deactivated?”
With a light laugh, Kitty responded, “Boss, rest assured! This gallery is a highly protected area of the Louvre. After it’s closed, it automatically enters a state of alert. If anyone breaks in, the pressure detectors on the floor would detect the intruder, triggering the infrared alarm. The average person without equipment wouldn’t be able to detect the infrared beams, and if someone touches the beams, an iron cage would drop from the ceiling, trapping the invader inside. However, I have disabled the infrared alarm device, so now you can proceed without worry, I guarantee no traps will be triggered.”
Sean, looking at the world-famous painting “Mona Lisa” behind the glass door, swallowed hard, then moved forward quickly. He approached the protective glass surrounding the “Mona Lisa,” and as nothing happened, it confirmed that all the mechanisms in the room were truly disabled by Kitty, which made him breathe a sigh of relief.
Sean tapped the protective glass to confirm its hardness, then took out a large piece of duct tape from his backpack and used it to attach the bulletproof glass together before placing a plastic explosive on the glass.
Sean then stepped back and gestured to Little Fish, who understood and took out a remote controller, pressing a button on it. A shrill alarm sounded inside the gallery, and then, as the ceiling moved, an iron cage plummeted down, trapping Sean underneath.
With Sean confined in the iron cage, he was taken by surprise and exclaimed, “Little Fish, what’s happening?”
Little Fish discarded the remote controller, pulled out a pistol, and aimed it at Sean, saying, “Boss, I’m sorry! Actually, I’m an intelligence agent for international police. My purpose was to go undercover in the criminal organization and then catch all of you during the heist.”
Sean could hardly believe his ears and shouted, “Little Fish, I treated you the best out of everyone, like a little sister of my own. How could you be an undercover cop? Why would you betray me?”
With a sneer, Little Fish said, “Duty calls, please forgive me!”
The middle-aged man next to them suddenly let out a roar and charged at Little Fish, who swung the muzzle of the gun around and with just one shot, brought the middle-aged man to the ground. Little Fish’s bullet pierced through the man’s chest, and he spat out blood, gasping more than breathing, clearly not long for this world.
Yan Fei, who was distantly following, knew everything that was happening and didn’t expect this internal conflict within the trio of thieves, which even included an undercover cop. The twist was completely unexpected. However, he had no relation with the trio of thieves and saw no need to aid either side.
With the shrill alarm from the gallery, the outside guard personnel finally realized something was wrong. No longer trusting the surveillance footage, they quickly moved towards the “Mona Lisa” gallery. They discovered the chaos inside, and the guards immediately pointed their weapons at Little Fish and Sean, shouting loudly for Little Fish to drop her weapon.
Carefully, Little Fish set down her weapon and said in French, “I am an agent of international police on a special task. I need to see your superior!”
Sean, pale as death inside the cage, hadn’t expected that on his first venture out, he’d be betrayed by an undercover in his team and had even seen a friend killed. Now surrounded, he was certain he couldn’t escape—a life spent in prison awaited him. He said into the microphone, “Kitty, I’m sorry, it’s over for us. Get out of here and don’t worry about me. Remember, find a good man and get married, and don’t do this kind of work anymore…”
Through the microphone, an anxious Kitty responded, “Boss, don’t give up. I will find a way to get you out.”
It was too late for Sean; he took out the microphone and crushed it underfoot, leaving no clues for those outside.

Thank you to my reader ‘littlezhou’ for your generosity! Thanks everyone for your subscriptions and for supporting me with your monthly and recommendation tickets! I had hoped to write more today, but alas, the author experienced the once-in-a-hundred-years “high-temperature school closure” phenomenon. Here, due to excessively high temperatures, all schools have started a heatwave holiday. My child was supposed to enroll today, but that’s been pushed back three days. All of the author’s previous arrangements have been disrupted, so for today, just five thousand words it is!
What do you think?
