Chapter 813: Chapter 808 Is this a bug?_1
As his command was given, the people inside the flagship’s command center came to their senses. Everyone began to operate in an orderly and swift manner, and the piercing alarm sounded throughout the entire fleet. At this moment, there were already dozens of objects rapidly flying towards the fleet from a close distance in the periphery.
Finn Lewis felt something extraordinary, as if he had a god’s view perspective. The moment the opposing fleet ended its warp jump, Finn sensed it. At this moment, Leviathan had instantaneously transmitted the entire command to the Insect Species units. Now, this space was not only filled with kingworms but also with swarms of Corrupted Insects.
As the main combat units of the Insect Species in space warfare, Corrupted Insects were not particularly large, just slightly bigger than the average fighter jets on Earth. However, their speed was exceptionally fast, comparable to some small warships. What’s important is that they resembled octopuses in appearance.
On their backs was a huge tumor, which looked like a crystal encapsulating an insect. The exposed part of the tumor resembled crystal, containing the absorbed energy stored inside the Corrupted Insects.
Each of its tentacles seemed to be a conduit, capable of ejecting high-pressure concentrated plasma energy flows, which greatly increased its acceleration. But this was not its greatest ability; it stemmed from a type of star beast from another dimension.
This star beast naturally utilized its biogenic magnetic field to make use of gravity, a force present everywhere in the universe, whether in celestial bodies large or small, in the Milky Way, other Heritage Systems, or even black holes.
It was merely a matter of the strength of gravity. In theory, as long as gravity existed, it had the means to propel itself, so it relied not only on thrust for acceleration but also on gravitational fields to achieve higher speeds. The tentacles that ejected streams were more for flexibly changing directions.
One could say that its acceleration was something almost no warship could match. Of course, it could not warp jump, but even then, in close-range combat, ordinary space fighters and mechs were no match for it. Its mouth could eject green plasma balls with high corrosiveness and jamming capabilities, though they were not overly powerful.
However, their erosive effects on energy shields and armors were very strong, more than enough to handle ordinary space fighters. Moreover, the exterior of the Corrupted Insects was surrounded by a layer of extremely sturdy armor. A creature that could survive in space and tolerate such terrifying acceleration must be incredibly durable, though not necessarily invulnerable to the weapons carried by space warships and mechs. @@novelbin@@
Of course, that didn’t mean it had no effect at all. With enough hits, one could still take down a Corrupted Insect, but considering that they were entirely biological, their defensive capabilities were very impressive. Against warships though, even the large particle cannons on small warships could eliminate it.
It’s just… aren’t Insect Species known for not relying on the quality of their forces in battle?
Now the entire fleet’s periphery was secretly enveloped by the Thunder Hammer, and the Thunder Hammer Defense System was somewhat powerful after all. The system utilized numerous exceptionally sturdy small satellites of a certain volume, which resembled hammers – hence the name Thunder Hammer Defense System.
These devices were placed around the entire warship, spanning over hundreds of meters in thickness. Although they could not completely envelop the warship, their high speed made it almost impossible to pass through the gaps between them.
They were designed to prevent enemy attacks, such as space mechs, space warships, and slower space torpedoes, but they offered little defense against the main cannons. Of course, if the main cannons were to strike these devices directly, they would have to breach them to be effective.
At this moment, the entire fleet had released the Thunder Hammer Defense System, creating a spectacular sight as it almost instantly covered the entire front of the fleet. All Thunder Hammer systems promptly began to connect and combine with each other, forming a massive protective stance. The assembly of these small hammers, if seen by someone with trypophobia, could likely scare them to death.
Though the Thunder Hammer Defense System was activated, some kingworms and Corrupted Insects still penetrated the fleet’s proximity, albeit taken out by the external defense cannons and energy run.
Still, Jeremiah Jenkins was extremely shocked! Could anyone tell him exactly what these things were? Looking at the radar screen filled with countless insect dots, covering at least tens of thousands in this star domain, Jeremiah’s brain was overwhelmed.
Just what on earth are these insects! The Milky Way does harbor monsters that can survive in space, but their numbers are small. Since when were there so many? And these creatures all looked identical!
“Warning! Warning! Large bioform cluster detected, target scanning currently ineffective, approximate height 100 kilometers, length 200 kilometers, with a significant number of electromagnetic layers on the surface, likely a defense energy layer. Target scrambling scan signals, accurate information not obtainable,” the shrill alert of the warship’s radar suddenly sounded.
“What?!” Jeremiah was dumbfounded. This thing was much larger than a first-class warship, and although a first-class warship was about a tenth of the length of the object, the difference in height was too great.
The problem was, this thing was a biological entity! That was what was most horrifying. What kind of planet could produce such large monsters? It seemed impossible. But soon, Jeremiah connected these insects with what he was witnessing – they couldn’t possibly just appear out of nowhere in space.
However, did that mean there was a planet in this star system that hosted undiscovered creatures capable of living in space?
“Scan for the threat level of the target, gather scan data.”
“Report, Your Highness, the scan results will take some time. There are approximately tens of thousands of such insects charging at us in space. Do you order a preemptive strike?” a reporting voice called out loudly.
“Wait, have all the fleets maintain defensive positions, and begin charging the main cannon, 30% energy, to test the enemy’s attack capabilities,” Jeremiah’s expression grew serious. These monsters capable of flying through space had to be understood because no one knew when such creatures might make their way to human-inhabited planets. This was the key issue.
What do you think?
