Chapter 418 Waiting to be Bitten to Death by Mosquitoes
Summer arrived exceptionally early in Jiangjin City. By the time the May Day holiday came around, all the young and beautiful girls had already donned short skirts and exposed their slender waists, and as the days followed, each day was hotter than the last. Before the official start of summer, Jiangjin City had turned into a massive steamer.
Nana's rented place was on the third floor, with a little grove of trees and a grassy area downstairs. In this kind of weather, mosquitoes and flies were breeding rampantly, and the third floor wasn't too high—it was within the flying range of mosquitoes.
Even with the air conditioning on, it was still understandable that a mosquito or two might sneak in through the gap under the door or the ventilation fan.
That mosquito must have been particularly venomous; soon after biting, a red bump appeared on Nana's thigh. Through the camera, one could see the patch of red on her snow-white leg, which was quite a blight on the visual experience.
And it was incredibly itchy—the bitten area felt as if tiny bugs were gnawing away at it, and Nana couldn't help but reach down to scratch it.
Anyone who's been bitten by a mosquito knows that it's better not to scratch it at all; the more you scratch, the itchier it gets, and the itchier it gets, the more you want to scratch.
With this interruption, dancing was no longer an option. You never see anyone dancing while desperately scratching an itch—that would be an odd sight indeed.
Nana couldn't stand it any longer, striking a pose for the camera, "Hold on a sec, bros, Nana's itching like crazy. Give me five minutes to deal with this, okay..." she said before dashing off to the next room to look for some mosquito repellent.
Nana was intentionally teasing, and the roomful of wolves below began to howl one after another.
"Nana, where are you itchy?"
"Five minutes? How could that be enough? At least an hour is needed!"
"You're bluffing, an hour? Dude, you couldn't last three minutes!"
"Scram, scram, scram..."
After arriving in the other bedroom, Nana first applied some mosquito repellent on the bitten spot, then, during this break, made a few phone calls to coordinate a massive verbal battle with some streamers she had previously teamed up with.
Five minutes later, Nana reappeared in front of the camera, only to see a screen full of 'misguided' comments.
"You bros are so naughty, ah. I was clearly just bitten by a mosquito. If you don't believe me, look..."
...
The building where Nana rented her room was in an open community with no surrounding walls—residential areas and adjacent commercial zones blended into one. Surrounded by residential buildings, there was an array of shops large and small, and the night market with clothing and food stalls was everywhere. The night market in this district was famous throughout the province and even the country, with its authentic snacks and long history.
In a little alleyway, there was a beauty salon with frosted semi-transparent glass doors through which one could glimpse, under the dim and ambiguous warm lighting, several young women sitting on a couch, wearing revealing attire.
Outside the beauty salon in the little alley, a young man crouched, holding a drink in one hand and a bunch of grilled skewers in the other, devouring them with gusto.
If one paid close attention, they would notice that the young man had been staying there for almost an hour already. He started by eating soup dumplings, and after finishing, he got a bowl of duck blood vermicelli soup. Now, having polished off the vermicelli soup, he had grabbed a big bunch of skewers from the barbecue stall at the entrance to the alley.
People were coming and going on the street, no one noticed him, but the ladies in the beauty salon were keeping an eye on this young man. He was handsome and well-dressed, all brand-name attire, his every movement resembling that of a wealthy young master from some rich family.

"He's a greenhorn." The ladies in the beauty salon pointed and chatted about the young man, bursting into laughter from time to time. They often encountered such young men, with some money in their pockets, wanting to indulge but lacking experience, loitering outside the beauty salon, too scared to enter but reluctant to leave.
They mistook the young man for such a person.
With a swish, the beauty salon's glass door opened, and a lady in her late twenties wearing a short skirt leaned on the door frame and smiled at the young man, "Young boss, come in for some fun."
"No, thank you." The young man, his mouth full of lamb, looked up and chuckled at the lady, "I'm waiting for someone."
"Waiting for whom, what do you mean, doesn't sister understand? Come on in, have a massage while you wait, I'll give you a discount, guarantee you'll be satisfied and want to come back again." The lady, having nothing better to do, teased the handsome young man by coaxing him.
As she spoke, she decisively stepped out of the beauty salon and looped her arm through the young man's.
"I really am waiting for someone," the young man quickly chuckled and withdrew his arm, casually offering a skewer of lamb kidneys, "How about you have some?"
The lady was taken aback, never having encountered such a reaction. She also burst out laughing and accepted the kidneys, saying, "Really waiting for someone, huh? Why not wait inside then? It's terribly hot out here, and there are lots of mosquitoes. Inside, we have air conditioning."@@novelbin@@
"Thanks, but no, I'm fine out here," the young man said with a smile.
"How dare you! Look down on us, thinking it's not clean inside, huh?" Misunderstanding his intentions, the lady snorted and stopped pulling the young man, swaying back into the beauty salon as she muttered, "Don't bother then, just stay out there, let the mosquitoes bite you to death, serves you right..."
The alley was filthy, and just outside was a night market. Near the entrance to the alley were piles of trash, so naturally, mosquitoes were everywhere. As if to confirm the lady's words, a swarm of mosquitoes buzzed around the young man soon after she left.
Strangely enough, if someone were to look closely around the young man at that time, they would notice that none of these large, plump mosquitoes dared to land on his skin or bite him.
This young man was, of course, Suming. That morning, he was preparing to visit the headquarters of the boiling company and happened to spot Nana coming down from the building.
They had met once before in Huayin County, and Nana had long forgotten what Suming looked like. However, due to recent online conflicts related to Nana, Suming had watched her live streams a few times and remembered her face.
What people say behind others' backs is always more truthful than what they say in person, Suming thought, and instead of going to the company, he summoned Haidong Qing, which was patrolling the sky, to follow Nana, and he trailed behind her as well.
This alley, being less than a hundred meters away from Nana's rented room, offered a clear view of her window. Suming commanded the mosquitoes to stealthily enter her room for surveillance.
To say he was eavesdropping wasn't quite accurate; with the Soul Attachment Ability, Suming could see everything in the room through the mosquitoes' vision as if he were playing a VR virtual reality game.
His choice of this particular alley was deliberate, firstly, because it was full of scout mosquitoes ready for use, easily replaceable if one was swatted, and secondly, because the Jiangjin City night market was famous nationwide for its authentic and delicious array of street food. After sampling a few bites, Suming couldn't bring himself to leave.
And so, Suming began his night of feasting on street food while covertly observing the female broadcaster's nightlife, and he almost got dragged into the beauty salon for a comprehensive "healthcare."
What do you think?
