Chapter 538 - 533: Beating People and Smashing Cars
Suming parked the car outside the crowd. As soon as he got out, he heard a sharp voice among the onlookers, "Hiding in the car won't save you, smash it!"
The voice was not Nangong Yan's. Suming almost got livid with rage. Who was this, being so aggressive and vandalizing someone's car in broad daylight?
Pushing through the crowd, Suming saw a Beetle smashed to pieces before his eyes, and a surge of blood rushed up his neck.
Since returning from Xiangjiang last time, Suming had offered to buy Nangong a car. It took her a long time to decide, but she eventually chose this red Beetle. It wasn't expensive, but probably because it was a gift from Suming, Nangong cherished it greatly. She washed it every three days, waxed it every half a month, and would rush to the dealership for repairs at the slightest scratch.
The Beetle in front of him looked as if it had been salvaged from a scrapyard. Its front windshield was smashed and riddled with cobweb-like cracks, the engine hood was dented, with several large footprints on the side. Both side mirrors had been broken off and were lying on the ground. The ground was littered with shards of glass and plastic components, along with two damaged cell phones.
No wonder they didn't call the police; their phones had been smashed.
It's cold-hearted how indifferent people are these days. With so many onlookers, yet not a single one reported to the police.
Nangong Yan and another girl were cowering inside the car, tightly clenching the door handles, afraid to step out. A plump middle-aged woman, holding a Chihuahua, stood on the curb, cursing the Beetle. She kicked the car door as she yelled, her voice matching the one who had earlier called for the car to be smashed.
A tall, balding middle-aged man stood beside her, wearing a large gold watch, reeking of alcohol, and directing three younger men to smash the car.
When Suming arrived, he saw a man in his thirties, drunk, taking a brick and slamming it hard against the side window of the Beetle. With a loud crash, the glass buckled inward, and it looked like another hit would shatter it, making it possible to reach in and open the car window. The girl sitting by the window recoiled in terror, trembling and clinging toward Nangong.
Two security guards were trying to intervene, but the bald man impatiently pushed one of them away, "Stop wasting words, everyone get lost. If you keep babbling, your restaurant will be smashed too. San'er, smash the car, drag these two little bitches out and make them kneel!"
"Who are you asking to kneel?"
Suming pressed a button on the cell phone in his pocket, turning on the video recording function, and stood in front of the car, tapping gently on the car door with the back of his hand.
"Who the hell are you? Get out of the way!" the young man nicknamed 'San'er', who had just picked up another brick, couldn't smash it down with Suming blocking the car door, and glared at Suming aggressively.
At first glance, this man looked like a flunky. Suming ignored him and, looking toward the bald man, said indifferently, "The girl in the car is my girlfriend. Whatever the issue is, I'm here to deal with it." His gaze swept over to the middle-aged woman beside him. Her Chihuahua's leg was dangling, barking at the car.
"Boyfriend? Perfect, you decide what to do!" the fat woman shouted loudly, "San'er, get these two little bitches out of the car!"
The men who were smashing the car stepped aside.
With a click, the car door opened, and Nangong Yan, along with the other girl, climbed out of the car.
Suming protected them with his arm, pulling the two girls behind him. Nangong Yan was relatively calm, her hair just a bit disheveled. The other girl, however, was terrified, tears streaming down her face. Her clothes had been ripped, revealing much of her shoulder, and there was the dark imprint of a hand on her face.
"Who hit you?" Suming turned and scanned the faces of those present, asking Nangong Yan.
Nangong Yan took off her jacket and draped it over Shen Ying's shoulders, saying, "They didn't hit me. Shen Ying didn't explain clearly on the phone just now..." She quickly recounted the incident.
After they got off work, they went to Anran Restaurant for dinner. Shen Ying had just gotten her driver's license and was itching to drive, so Nangong let her take the wheel. When they were leaving the garage, a Chihuahua suddenly appeared out of nowhere and jumped in front of the car. Shen Ying couldn't avoid it and hit the Chihuahua. Fortunately, she kept her wits about her and didn't confuse the accelerator with the brake like some female drivers might have; she quickly braked and stopped the car.
Just as the two of them got out to check on the little dog, a middle-aged, chubby woman who was waiting for a ride came over and slapped Shen Ying. Then, a Volvo came out of the underground garage, and a bald man with a few people got out. Nangong had just pulled out her phone to call the police when the other party snatched it and smashed it, and Shen Ying's phone was also taken away while she was halfway through calling Mr. Su. Seeing that things were turning sour, Nangong quickly pulled Shen Ying into the car and locked the doors.
Shen Ying was terrified when she made the call, and Mr. Su was angry at the time. With one person not explaining clearly and the other not listening clearly, he thought that Nangong Yan had been beaten.
"Are you okay?" Mr. Su asked Nangong Yan with some concern.
Nangong Yan had maintained her composure up until Mr. Su arrived and finally let out a sigh of relief, whispering, "I'm fine, just scared."
Shen Ying sobbed on the side, "Mr. Su, I really didn't see that dog, it just darted out from the side of the road..."
"I know, don't worry about it," Mr. Su nodded and pointed outside the crowd, "You two head to my car, I'll handle this."
Shen Ying looked at Nangong Yan, and Nangong Yan wrapped her arm around her shoulder, comforting her, "Don't worry, leave it to him." Then the two started walking out of the crowd.
"Are you all blind? You're letting these two little bitches run away?!" The middle-aged, chubby woman was not having it.
Three young guys surrounded them and stopped Mr. Su and the two women in the middle, blocking Nangong's way to leave.
Mr. Su put Nangong behind him and asked the two opposite him—one chubby and one bald, "What my girlfriend just said was correct, wasn't it?"
"Yes, that's right, they hit my baby!" said the chubby woman.
Mr. Su used his spiritual power to check and found that the Chihuahua was hurt but not dead or disabled. This kind of dog is excitable and tends to swagger when its owner is around, daring to provoke much larger wolf-dogs, and upon hearing its owner's loud voice, it regained its spirit and started to bark furiously at Mr. Su.
"Oh, so they hit your dog, and you smashed their car and phones, and even hit someone. Now what do you plan to do?" Mr. Su continued to ask calmly.
Seeing the age and dress of Mr. Su and Nangong Yan, as well as the car they were driving, the chubby woman guessed that they were somewhat affluent, but not to the extent of being untouchable. If Mr. Su had shown up in a helicopter or a car worth three or four million, her attitude would have been completely different.
"How much is that crappy car worth? I'll give you two options: either kneel and apologize to my baby or compensate me with two hundred thousand." said the chubby woman.
"Your dog, even if it were killed, wouldn't be worth two hundred thousand," Mr. Su replied.
"Mental distress compensation! If your mother was killed by someone, wouldn't you want compensation for mental distress?" the chubby woman retorted.
"Oh, this dog is your mother, is it?" Mr. Su sneered, "Since we can't settle this privately, let's call the police."
The gold-watch-wearing bald man who hadn't spoken yet finally said, "Call the police? Sure, let me tell you, I run Yangchuan City. Go ahead and ask around, see if there's anything I can't handle with the police or the courts! You kids don't know anything, once you're in the police station, I'll skin you alive!" As they were talking, there was a commotion in the crowd, and a giant of a man forced his way through the crowd, leading a row of burly men with an average height of over one meter eighty to the front.
What do you think?
