Chapter 671 - 661: Mountain Paradise

The Grey Bear Big Boss, featured on the 'Wanted List', was one of the top three 'big shots', a North American native ranking as the world's third-largest bear species, second only to the Polar Bear and the Kodiak brown bear. His dark brown coat was like a thick overcoat, and his body was plump with fat, giving him distinctive recognizability. Suming, who had reviewed his profile numerous times at Ocean Park, recognized him immediately as one of the runaway animals.

At that moment, the Grey Bear Big Boss lost his arrogance, slumping down and reluctantly leading the way in front.

The inside of Orgrimmar City was, admittedly, more acceptable than the game version, which had rooms and cliffs of various styles everywhere. It was relatively crude here, with many animals building nests directly on the mountain walls, or setting up homes in trees, while others simply dug a big hole in the ground and piled up sticks and weeds to make a home.

This was reasonably logical since animals have aesthetics starkly different from humans—practicality was the first principle. If the houses in Orgrimmar were like those in the game, even Suming would find it impossible to accept that this was a city built by animals.

The houses might be simple, but the city's 'king' seemed to have anticipated human visitors, having laid out basic roads within the city. The roads were constructed with a simple mix of gravel and wood, not especially beautiful, but they had their own charming flavor.

Walking on the path, on both sides of the road, unknown varieties of fresh flowers bloomed, while occasionally passing through a small bamboo grove or by a clear pond where one could see to the bottom.

To Suming's surprise, he discovered that Orgrimmar City, though inhabited by a mix of different animals, was rather well-planned with designated areas for herbivores, carnivores, large animals, and small animals. For example, the east cliffs were mainly home to birds, while the west featured a small 'marsh' inhabited by aquatic creatures led by crocodiles.

Furthermore, the number of animals was astounding, likely a hundred times more than the initial group that had escaped from the airport.

The sound of water roaring, a small waterfall cascading down from the cliffs appeared before them. This place must be one of Orgrimmar's crucial water sources, with a small pond at the base of the waterfall, where a stream connected to the various ponds within the city.

By the pond there lay a verdant bamboo forest, within which stood a straw hut that seemed fit for human habitation.

"Could it be that their king is not a panda, but a human?" Suming walked curiously into the bamboo forest.

The sound of his footsteps disturbed the animals within the bamboo forest; several bamboo rats popped their heads out of the ground, curiously eyeing the uninvited guest.

These critters, resembling large rats, loved nothing more than the roots and shoots of bamboo. The bamboo forest was riddled with burrows of various sizes. The largest of the rats, as plump as a cat, got stuck in its hole as it tried to emerge. With a forceful push from its front paws, its chubby belly popped out with a 'whoosh'.

A Red-crowned Crane, with its long legs, casually strolled from the straw hut behind, taking a leisurely walk in the forest, utterly indifferent to the presence of Suming and others, as if they were invisible.

Seeing its close relative, the small Crested Ibis couldn't control itself and bolted from Suming's embrace, flapping towards the Red-crowned Crane to snuggle up.

The Red-crowned Crane, arrogant in nature, paid no heed to this duckling-like relative, turning away disdainfully; with its long legs and strides, it easily outpaced the Ibis, who chased for a few steps then flapped its wings in frustration.

So full of itself, just because of longer legs! Let's see who has the bigger chest if it dares!

Strangely enough, the Crested Ibis, when faced with anyone other than Suming and Su Meng, was extremely hostile, barely giving them a glance and putting their lives at risk if they slighted it even a bit. Yet, with animals, even the smallest like the bamboo rats, it showed no airs and would never harm them.

A plump bamboo rat carefully handed over its tiny fist to the Ibis, its small claw open, holding a muddy, dark object that seemed like the fruit or the seed of a plant.

The Ibis pecked at it with its long beak and swallowed it, happily cooing away.

The Grey Bear Big Boss led them to the straw hut and called out twice at the door, which elicited no response from inside.

"Hmm?" Suming paused, wondering if the city's king was not at home.

Just as he was about to extend his spiritual power into the hut for a quick scan, the door suddenly opened.

Two plump, rolly-polly creatures—a blend of black and white—wriggled their behinds like train engines and charged out of the room.

Coming out too fast and both squeezing through the small doorway simultaneously, they managed to collapse half of it, bringing down the straw from the roof and burying themselves underneath...

"Good grief, it was you two up to no good!" Suming laughed upon seeing the pair, relieved to be reunited with Yingying and Lele once again.

No, more accurately, the lords of Orgrimmar, the illustrious Panda Kings of the Qinling Mountains!

I was ready to scold them, these two rascals, for leading the animals away secretly, causing such big trouble, putting Xiangjiang and North America to the vast expense of manpower and material resources to find them, even attracting international villains, yet here they were, living a carefree life!

Before the words could even leave his mouth, the two pandas emerged from the broken door, covered in dirt, and immediately lunged at Suming, clinging to his legs and whining pitifully.

"What? Being the boss is so stressful? It's so nerve-wracking? The work is so hard? You never want to be the boss again?!"

The two pandas had truly experienced the difficulties of leadership during this period. On the surface, they seemed commanding and could summon anyone with a call, but behind the scenes, it was just too hard. The lives of thousands of animals depended on them for food, drink, and everything else, and the future of the entire animal army rested on their chubby shoulders. One decision of theirs could directly determine the future of the entire army.

The pressure was like a mountain pressing down on them, exhausting all their options. Every day was terribly hard as they tiptoed on thin ice, terrified of causing harm to these animals who had entrusted their lives to them.

But there was no way around it. Who asked them to be the leaders? Greater ability means greater responsibility. They were the smartest ones; if not them, then who? In the past, they followed Suming, who took care of everything, and they simply had to reach out their hands to receive food or act cute and play dumb. But now it was different. The protective big tree was no longer by their side, and they had to rely on themselves for everything, swallowing unspeakable grievances and enduring numerous hardships.

Come on, come on, pandas must learn to grow up on their own.

Having eagerly awaited Suming's arrival, when the two pandas saw him, they clung to his legs as if impoverished peasants had finally seen the coming of the Red Army, pouring out their hearts to a loved one.

...

With teary eyes, the two pandas embraced Suming and poured their hearts out for over half an hour until their emotions finally calmed down.

Suming was about to reach into his pocket to pull out some cool chocolates to comfort them, but when he touched his pocket, the chocolates had disappeared. Then he saw Yingying crying and using her chubby bear paw to fumble with a piece of chocolate wrapping paper... Lele was doing the same, holding a half-unwrapped chocolate, completely ignoring Suming, the victim of the theft. They ate with utter righteousness, free from any sense of guilt.

"Damn it, you're just here to take advantage," Suming was totally speechless. It seemed that the panda's nature was really all about good food!

After eating two bars of chocolate, the two creatures stopped crying and making a fuss. Their mood greatly improved, and they resumed their bossy demeanor, taking Suming for a tour around Orgrimmar.

In the grand city of Orgrimmar, nearly two thousand animals lived, including numerous first and second class protected species and rare ones like the Mountain Elves King.

From a conservation standpoint, the Mountain Elves King and the Mountain Elves are of the same level, but in reality, a true Mountain Elves King is extremely rare.

These two thousand or so animals were the main force recruited by the pandas in the Qinling Mountains.

However, the influence of Orgrimmar extended far beyond these animals.

It's said that humans disseminate information quickly, but animals aren't slow either. Not long after the construction of Orgrimmar, animals within dozens of kilometers around the Qinling Mountains knew about this city made entirely of animals, led by two giant pandas. Under the leadership of these two pandas, the animals here were living a 'modernized' life.

For animals, the greatest pressure comes from survival. From the king of beasts, the tiger, fierce crocodiles, and lions, down to the smallest and weakest ant, all of them worry about making a living because those that starve to death or die hunting are very common.

Besides the problem of food, nature itself is a severe test – the burning sun, the bitter cold of ice and snow can all pose deadly threats to animals.

But in Orgrimmar, under the pandas' leadership, the animals had established a basic division of labor. The gathering of large groups of animals greatly increased their ability to survive.

Here, at least, they wouldn't starve or freeze to death, nor would they die of dehydration because of dried-up lakes.

Although it's still impossible to step outside the food chain, any animal that enters the range of Orgrimmar will be protected.

This was a rule set by the panda bosses – whether carnivores or herbivores, within Orgrimmar, they could not slaughter each other.

The first group of residents that established Orgrimmar had followed the panda bosses all the way and had a certain 'comradery through combat' with each other; they could coexist peacefully by nature.

Therefore, Orgrimmar was like a slice of paradise in the animal kingdom of the Qinling Mountains.

But even in this paradise, there were troubles.

As the number of animals in Orgrimmar continued to grow and its influence expanded, the food here was really becoming insufficient.

The hunting parties had to venture further and further;

The number of herbivores kept increasing, and the nearby forests were being stripped bare of berries and leaves, almost not enough to eat.

Right now, it was still manageable, but once winter came, it would be a disaster.

"Now you know being a leader is not easy," Suming mused, resting his chin in his hand.

Just as he was thinking, a huge shadow flitted across the ground, and it seemed as though a giant bird had flown overhead.
