Chapter 709 - 699: The Barrier Between Two Realms
A winding road stretched from the back entrance of the zoo towards the depths of the Qinling.
Between two sheer cliffs, there was a path only seven or eight meters wide, which, when viewed from above, looked like a thin line carved into the rugged mountains.
A temporary checkpoint called "Xiongguan" spanned the sole entrance to the reserve, resolutely guarding the passageway between the cliffs.
A line of trucks carrying fruits and vegetables drove up and gradually came to a stop.
"Fuck!" The driver of the lead truck, witnessing the checkpoint for the first time and seeing the large "Two Realms Pass" sign hanging above, was left wide-eyed in shock.
Atop the checkpoint, constructed of large green stones, two flags fluttered in the wind; one red, the other blue, each bearing the likeness of a panda's head. Aside from the color, the two panda logos were almost indistinguishable. However, they were not typical pandas – their faces looked fierce and formidable, with long, sharp fangs, akin to those of primal pandas.
A row of baboons stood atop the checkpoint like soldiers, each holding a sharpened stick, peering down with a commanding view at the trucks below.
Two hawks perched on the beacon tower at the peak of the checkpoint, ready to take flight and relay messages at any moment.
The entire scene was incredibly magical, as if abruptly crossing into a mythical world full of spirits and monsters. The first-time truck driver stared with his eyes bulging, nearly losing control of his excitement to the point of crashing into the thick walls of the town gate.
That was no laughing matter; despite appearing rudimentary and built in the style of an ancient gate, simply stacked with large stones, the structure was solid enough that even colliding with it in a large truck would lead to no good outcome.
The escort, meanwhile, looked completely unfazed. He handed a cigarette to the driver, lighting it for him with a veteran's tone, "First time here?"
"Yeah, yeah." The driver accepted the cigarette and lit it for the escort. "Brother Zhang, what in the hell is this place? Weren't we just delivering food to a reserve? How comes it feels like we're on a TV set? Are those monkeys real? And what's this 'Two Realms Pass'? Isn't that from 'Journey to the West'?"
"Of course, it is." The escort chuckled. "I was startled myself the first time I came. This place is managed by the owner of the Yangchuan City Zoo. Have you ever been to the Yangchuan City Zoo? The animals there are so well-trained, they seem almost enlightened. It's the same here, I've heard the city inside the reserve was built by the animals themselves. How miraculous is that? As for the 'Two Realms Pass' name, there's some significance to it reportedly. It means that beyond this point, you're entering a different world from human society. Outside the pass, humans rule; inside, animals call the shots."
"Damn, that's wild!" The driver had the incredulous look of someone who couldn't be easily fooled.
"Heh, just wait, and you'll see. Hang on; someone will be here to receive the shipment soon," the escort said with secretive enthusiasm.
Receive the shipment? The driver was puzzled. Damn it, it's just a delivery of some fruit, and they're making it so secretive, like it's an illicit deal – receiving a shipment?
The driver sat in the truck for several minutes. Observing that the 'big monkeys' on the town gate didn't seem intent on harming anyone, he pulled out his phone and began snapping fervent photos of the gate and the baboons on top. Even more boldly, he jumped out of the truck and took a selfie with a reverse grip.
Just then, the winch of the town gate groaned, and the gate slowly lifted.
Startled, the driver scurried back to his seat.
From inside the gate, a line of beasts, clearly strong burden carriers, emerged one by one. There were wild horses, gazelles, and mainly, wild boars. There was even a Bactrian camel and a North American bison…
Two emotionless Lure People, rifles slung over their backs, followed the procession.
The escort, familiar with the routine, hopped off the truck and took over the transaction with the Lure People responsible for patrolling the mountains.

Baskets of food were unloaded from the trucks and placed on the backs of the pack animals.
Everyone headed for home, back to their mothers. After unloading, the convoy turned around on the spot, followed the same road out of the mountains, while the pack animal team re-entered the gate of the Two Worlds under the direction of the Lure People, walking unhurriedly towards Orgrimmar with their loads of food.
The winches screeched as two sturdy black bears manipulated large wheel discs, operating the ropes, and the great gate of the Two Worlds slowly closed again, re-separating the human world from the animal world.
The purpose of the Two Worlds Passage, the only legal path, was to allow animals to accept human help but not to be overly disturbed; it separated the two worlds, allowing the animals to live and evolve in the mountains in peace.
In the future, when tourism development begins, the Two Worlds Passage will serve as an effective checkpoint to control the number of visitors and also as the first attraction of the sanctuary.
As the sanctuary's animals began to evolve rapidly towards human society, Suming decided to go with the flow and build the sanctuary according to their characteristics, creating a legendary world of gods and demons.
Suming, with his wicked sense of humor, had even started planning to create roles such as mountain kings and old demons in the future sanctuary, along with teams of little whirlwind minions.
…
Yangchuan International Airport.
The members of Taoyuan Film and Television's inspection team that had gone abroad to visit Disney, led by Li Wanting, arrived on time.
Having not seen them for a while, Suming noticed something called 'confidence' on the young people's faces, aside from being travel-worn.
With expanded horizons and worldly exposure, they naturally developed such a quality. A group of newcomers to the film industry seized this rare opportunity for an enlightening experience in the world's foremost film academy.
Among them, perhaps some would soon fade from the halo of returning from overseas and settle into mediocrity; but Suming also believed that there would certainly be those who, thanks to this experience, would rise as rising stars.
"Mr. Su, do I look good?" Fairy Li Wanting, sparkling all over in a simple yet sophisticated designer outfit, twirled in front of Suming like a prancing sprite.
Designer wear is the kind that looks ordinary, yet stands out as something exceptional in the eyes of someone with taste. Suming considered himself someone with taste, and after a few glances at Li Wanting, his eyelids couldn't stop twitching.
Damn it, her outfit must be worth at least two hundred thousand, maybe even more. Rolling his eyes, was there any need to show off upon returning to the country? He knew she was beautiful, but this was all company money—he felt a real pinch in his heart...
Seeing Nicolas Cage, sporting large sunglasses and flashy shorts, step out from the group, Suming finally felt a bit better.
Up close, Cage's face had more wrinkles than a bun, and his skin was certainly not as soft—more like a coarse grain bun that was lacking water, rough and uneven.
Cage's financial situation indeed looked dire. Even third-tier celebrities would have a whole entourage of assistants and nannies when they stepped out, but Cage was all by himself.
"Hi, Mr. Su, I've heard you own a magical zoo. Could you take me to see it?"
Unexpectedly, Cage's Chinese was not bad—at least, Suming could understand it.

What do you think?
