Chapter 52 The Strength of a Child.
Before the fight truly began, Irelia's uncle, Adalric, watched his niece charge into the battle with determination. He stood at the front of the knights, who were clearly ready to intervene but couldn't help but watch with concern.
Adalric kept his eyes fixed on Irelia as his subordinates gathered around him. His gaze shimmered with a touch of disdain, as if he were accustomed to seeing the youth face challenges with impetuous energy. He knew Irelia was capable of handling this on her own, but he had his own reasons for allowing her to test her limits.
"Let her handle this on her own," Adalric said, his voice authoritative and calm, but with a firmness that made the knights hesitate.
The soldiers, though in large numbers, were clearly uncomfortable with the idea of watching a young woman face these magical beasts without assistance. One of them, bolder than the rest, approached. "Sir, these creatures are dangerous! We must intervene to ensure your niece's safety!"
But Adalric didn't move. He remained standing, arms crossed, with a mysterious smile on his face. His power seemed to radiate from him like a tangible aura. When he slightly raised his energy, the pressure in the air intensified. Adalric's presence was overwhelming, and the knights, who had been ready to act, immediately stepped back, feeling a wave of fear and respect wash over them.
"She wants to test that boy's strength," Adalric said with a cold calmness, his eyes narrowing as he watched the carriage where Kael and Irelia were. "Let her. Only assist if absolutely necessary."
The pressure of Adalric's aura was enough to silence the knights, their expressions tense as they looked at each other, unable to question his orders. The knight leader tried to resist for a moment, but the immense power Adalric exuded made any attempt at disobedience fade away. He simply gestured, and the knights moved into a defensive position, waiting for the next move without directly intervening.
Kael, watching it all unfold, felt the tension in the atmosphere grow. He realized that Irelia was being observed not only by the soldiers but also by her uncle, who seemed to have absolute control over the situation. Kael got the impression that he was being tested — not just by Irelia, but by Adalric as well.
"Well, it seems like I'm at the center of something bigger than I expected," Kael thought, adjusting his posture and preparing to act.
Meanwhile, Irelia, with her sword in hand, faced the magical beasts with a competitive smile. She knew she was being watched, and that only motivated her more.
"Let's see what you're capable of, Lying Boy," she murmured to herself, already focused on the battle ahead.
Kael watched Irelia prepare for combat with the confidence that only someone so familiar with the sword could have. She seemed unfazed by the challenges before her.
'Maybe I should push a little harder... my mana is constantly replenished, and I've never used my full capacity... if all of them are Rank D souls, it's worth pushing myself to absorb them all,' he thought.
"I really need to see how far I can go," Kael thought, a glint of determination in his eyes.
He closed his eyes for a moment, focusing on his internal energy. Kael felt his body grow stronger, sharper, and knew that now he could control the elements with more precision than ever before, all while increasing his concentration on using mana. It was something he had learned from his grandmother.
With a sudden motion, Kael raised his hand, and a gust of sharp wind formed around him. But this wasn't just any wind... it was an immense force, shaped with precision, that he could now control completely. The air around him distorted, creating a pressure that made even the knights in the distance take a step back. Kael felt the wind adapt to his commands, as if it were an extension of himself.
"My control has improved..." Kael murmured to himself, amazed by the power he was now wielding. He extended his hand toward the magical beasts, and without hesitation, began to manipulate the wind with mastery. The creatures, which had been drawing closer with increasing ferocity, were caught off guard.
The wind, now a violent whirlwind, started cutting through the air with impressive speed. Every movement Kael made created gusts so strong that the beasts were sent flying backward, dragged by the force of the air current he controlled effortlessly.
It was as if the very wind obeyed his will, as if he were a god of air.
The creatures didn't even have time to react before being pushed aside, the strength of the wind creating a perfect control field around them.
Irelia, seeing this display of power, stopped for a moment, her sword still in hand. Her eyes were wide, and she watched Kael with a mix of surprise and fascination.
"This... this is incredible!" Irelia exclaimed, thoroughly impressed. She had never seen anyone control the wind with such precision and power. It was as if Kael were a master of air, and her sword, though sharp, seemed insignificant compared to such power.
'... I understand that having a mentor is really crucial to getting stronger, but... who taught this kid?' Irelia thought, carefully evaluating what was unfolding before her eyes... 'How many years has he trained? Such control... it would take at least ten years of training... he seems younger than me...'
Kael, meanwhile, continued to use the wind to disorient the beasts. He was aware that with each soul he absorbed, his abilities became sharper, more potent, and this drove him to strike all at once. After all, this wasn't just a battle; it was an opportunity to grow even stronger.
"My body hasn't gotten stronger despite increasing my strength, but... my mana and intelligence are really making a difference," Kael thought as he watched the beasts being completely subdued by the control he now had.
Irelia, still holding her sword, remained there, watching with a curious smile on her face. She simply couldn't take her eyes off the boy in front of her. So much power... at such a young age... it made her tremble, tremble with excitement...
On the other hand, Irelia's uncle, Adalric, who watched the scene with a calculating smile, knew Kael was hiding many things. He not only wanted to see how strong the boy could become, but he also wanted to see how Irelia would react to someone with such power at such a young age...
'I have a hunch about who this little boy might be, but I'll leave that for later. This will make my beautiful niece even more excited to get stronger,' Adalric thought with a proud smile on his face.
What do you think?
