Chapter 78: Chapter 78: Suck at It but Loves to Play
Sheng Chuyi saw Shen Zhaozhao across from him freeze for a moment, not expecting that they would suddenly come back.
However, he quickly recovered to normal.
Bending his head down, he continued to flip the barbecue in his hands.
Only the slight curl of his lips betrayed a hint of the young man’s thoughts.
“Zhaozhao, what would you like to eat? I’ll get it for you,” Sang Youyou glanced at Shen Zhaozhao and, noticing her expression was usual, seemed unaffected by the conversation of the two.
She now believed that the two of them were indeed just childhood sweethearts.
Shen Zhaozhao smiled and said, “I just had a lot, I’m full already, you guys eat!”
“Okay then!” Sang Youyou no longer bothered with her and went to grab a bunch of food for herself.
After Lu Xu and Sang Youyou had eaten their fill, they thought about trying their hand at grilling themselves.
Sheng Chuyi made room for them, letting them do as they pleased.
Moving away from the barbecue, Sheng Chuyi looked around and quickly spotted Shen Zhaozhao and Xu Siyan sitting under the tent, heads together, engrossed in playing a game on their phone.
“Go go go… There’s someone in the bush opposite… Quick, flash, ultimate…” Shen Zhaozhao’s loud voice could be heard from afar.
“Ah, you’re about to lose, let me do it.” Seeing a critical moment, Shen Zhaozhao snatched Xu Siyan’s phone directly and took matters into her own hands.
Xu Siyan listened to her the whole time with good temper.
Even when Shen Zhaozhao grabbed his phone, he just smiled.
“Yay, we won!” Moments later, Shen Zhaozhao happily returned the phone to Xu Siyan, saying, “You practice some more yourself, I’m going to get something to drink.”
Just as she stood up, she saw Sheng Chuyi: “Eh, Yiyi, are you done grilling?” Shen Zhaozhao ran towards him.
Sheng Chuyi looked at her and then in the direction of Xu Siyan, saying, “Shen Zhaozhao, you’re still young, you should focus on your studies right now and not think about other things.”
“I know! I just played for a little while,” Shen Zhaozhao thought he was talking about the game.
Sheng Chuyi knew she didn’t understand his meaning, but he didn’t go out of his way to explain further.
There’s something good about not understanding everything!
After eating the barbecue, Lu Xu took out a deck of cards from his bag and called everyone, “Let’s play cards!”
“Yeah, yeah, yeah!” Sang Youyou immediately nodded in agreement.
Shen Zhaozhao: “Uh… I don’t know how!”
Sang Youyou: “It’s okay, we can teach you, it’s very simple, watch us play a few hands and you’ll get it.”
“Yiyi, do you know how to play?” Shen Zhaozhao turned to ask Sheng Chuyi.
Sheng Chuyi: “I haven’t played before, but it shouldn’t be hard.”
Sang Youyou nodded, “Exactly, exactly, it’s not hard at all,” and then briefly explained the rules to Shen Zhaozhao.
Shen Zhaozhao remembered them but still didn’t quite understand.
“No worries, you can watch us play first,” Sang Youyou said, then called over Xu Siyan.
“I’m not great at it either,” Xu Siyan said shyly.
Sang Youyou: “It’s okay, none of us are very good at it,” and then urged everyone, “Let’s start quickly, whoever loses has to stick a note on their face.”
Shen Zhaozhao watched from the side at first but after a few hands felt she had gotten the hang of it and was eager to give it a try.
Xu Siyan then gave his place to her.
Shen Zhaozhao started with a losing streak, a typical example of being bad at the game but loving it nonetheless.
However, it didn’t take long for her to catch on to the tricks; to put it plainly, it was a combination of luck and memory.
The group played until the evening.
Everyone’s faces were covered in notes, except for Sheng Chuyi’s, which was clean.
What do you think?
