Chapter 1340: Noel's Grand Arrival
Layla and the others couldn't help but become a bit wary once they realized the Ardagan family would take such losses.
Layla couldn't help but ask, "Why would you want such a thing? Won't it be a great loss for the Ardagan family?"
Anna looked surprised, as if thinking Layla was actually dumber than she originally thought. She tilted her head and asked innocently, "I'm sorry. What do you mean 'loss?' Don't tell me. You expect people to give you money when doing charity?"
"!!!" They almost forgot. Even though they were dealing with a noble family, they were still doing charity.
Even though they accepted donations, it wasn't like they forced them to give their money.
Hence, they couldn't help but feel embarrassed.
"We have made enough money to run everything smoothly and even keep some for ourselves. And it's not a bad idea to give back the excess money to the community." Anna raised a finger. "That's all we are thinking. I told you, right? I come here without having any hidden intention."
Layla smiled wryly. She was embarrassed. Because of how cunning Noel was, she forgot the purpose of charity.
Layla let out a long sigh. She glanced at the archbishop and the paladins. "Is there anything any of you would like to say?"
They thought for a moment before shaking their heads.
"In that case, the deal has been made. We'll accept the donation of the Ardagan family.
"The Ardagan family will provide the funds, connection for the materials, as well as the transportation. Of course, this will include all the necessary people to run the charity organization.
"In exchange, the Moon Temple will cooperate with the Ardagan family from helping with the charity to help the people in need, according to their judgment. Of course, we will retain the right whether the area needs help or not and we'll consider the proposal of the Ardagan family positively.
"Is there anything you'd like to add, Miss Anna?" asked Layla.
"Yes." Anna nodded. While they were discussing, Anna had actually sent a signal to Noel and received a reply from him.
Anna raised one finger. "Regarding all the details, they will be taken care of after the discussion ends. If there won't be any problem, we'll sign it there. However, the expected event will probably last for two to three years."
"Yes. That should be fine." Layla nodded. The Ardagan family was planning to give over two million gold coins over the course of two years. This alone would definitely help the Moon Temple a lot.
Once their influence became bigger, a lot more people would donate to them. And their donation could be invested back to do more charity and expand the Moon Temple even more.
Eventually, the Moon Temple would be everywhere or even become the state's religion. And that was the end of their expansion.
"In that case, if it's not a problem for all of you, I do have a small request. Right now, my husband, Marquis Ardagan, is about to arrive in this city with new transportation, which will be the foundation of the charity organization. I believe… in order to make the banner and other things… you might want to see what kind of transportation we have prepared."
They were a bit confused about Anna's words. They had seen a lot of new transportation from the Ardagan family and even received trucks. So, what kind of surprise had the Ardagan family prepared?
With that thought in mind, none of them actually rejected the idea. Hence, Anna guided them outside, specifically to the northern wall where Noel was supposed to come in.
"Miss Anna. Why are we going to the wall? If we're going to greet him, shouldn't we wait in front of the gate rather than on top of the wall?" Layla asked.
Anna shook her head. "Not necessarily. How do I say this? The transportation this time… is rather special. I'd like you to witness what it's capable of."
Although they were confused, they waited patiently, wondering when Noel would arrive. In the end, they weren't aware of Noel's location, so they thought they had to wait for a few hours.
However, just a moment later, they suddenly saw a huge black dot appearing in their vision. It was small at first but gradually expanded.
"What is that?"
"A flying dot?"
"A monster?"
"No. A demon?!"
"Get ready to attack!"
The paladins unsheathed their weapons, preparing to unleash their power against this demon.
However, only Layla, who was observing Anna's expression rather than the black dot. Seeing such a confident smile on her face, she realized that this 'demon' was actually Noel.
"What a ridiculous thing to prepare…" Layla didn't know the details, but she got the gist of what Noel and Anna had prepared and thought how absurd it was. "Are they trapping us to the point where we can't live without the Ardagan family?"
After muttering those words, Layla couldn't help but turn to the so-called demon, only to drop her jaw in shock despite being prepared.
The paladins and the archbishop had the same expression. The soldiers panicked, not knowing what was going on.
However, they saw a human standing on top of that flying beast. It was Noel Ardagan.
Noel stood at the edge of the airship and used the spiritual energy to introduce himself.
"My apologies. I have come uninvited. I am Noel Ardagan, a marquis of the Muivell Kingdom. I have a negotiation with the Moon Temple, so I come in peace. I will park this new technology of mine outside the wall so you don't have to be alarmed, as it's not dangerous. This technology has been verified and added to the laws of the Greenwood Kingdom. Hence, I hope you bear no hostility toward me or this new transportation."
As he said, Noel parked the airship right in front of the wall for everyone to see. No one would have expected that after inventing transportation for the land and the water that was powered with runes, Noel would actually create transportation that could fly across the sky.
What do you think?
