Chapter 26: Sleeping Together
Chapter 26: Chapter 26: Sleeping Together
“What?” Qiao Xi didn’t hear what she said clearly.
Old Madam Liu was stunned for a good while before she said, “Forget it, you go and arrange it.”
“Okay, then I’ll communicate with the doctor.”
Qiao Xi’s voice was calm, “If there are any problems, you can press the button and call me.”
After she left.
Old Madam Liu rubbed her swelling temples.
...
From that angle just now, she really saw wrong. This girl named Qiao Xi, she looked three or four points similar to her daughter when she was young.
Old Madam Liu even forgot to be angry. @@novelbin@@
But upon closer examination, she wasn’t similar at all.
The world is so large, anything is possible.
She took out her cell phone and called her eldest son, “Zongquan, I saw a young girl in the hospital today who looks a bit like Huimin. The hospital really knows how to pick people.”
The Liu Family dotes on their daughter the most.
“They must be afraid that I won’t cooperate with the treatment, so they deliberately found someone who looks a bit like her to manipulate me. I can’t… be schemed against.” The old lady snorted coldly and said, “This must be Xiuyuan’s crafty idea.”
If Xu Xiuyuan knew what the old lady was thinking, he would certainly cry injustice. Who knew that Director Wu would make such an arrangement by mistake.
“Mom, just stay in the hospital; hemiparesis can be cured,” Liu Zongquan advised.
“Don’t fool me; I don’t like hospitals.”
To return home for recuperation as soon as possible, she had to harden her heart.
…
Qiao Xi came back again, took Old Madam Liu to finish her checkup, and by the way, picked up a meal.
Back in the ward, Old Madam Liu overturned the hospital’s bland meal, and the hot soup splashed onto Qiao Xi’s hand.
“Is this what people eat? I want the set meal from Jinling Garden.”
“You told me to arrange it myself,” Qiao Xi said, straightening her body.
“I didn’t say that, you heard wrong,” Old Madam Liu boldly said, covering up her own guilt.
Qiao Xi had principles too, “Patients should follow medical advice while hospitalized. I’ll get you another serving.”
“I don’t want it anymore. You clean up the floor for me; it’s all greasy and disgusting just looking at it,” she intensified her demands, starting to act up again.
Qiao Xi glanced at her, silently cleaning the room.
“I want to take a nap, don’t disturb me.”
“Dr. Yan will come to give you acupuncture at one o’clock.”
“Let him wait.”
As a patient, she indeed was the most troublesome Qiao Xi had ever encountered.
After a whole day, she was almost exhausted both physically and emotionally.
When it was time to get off work, Ye Manman and Wu Yachun could still energetically arrange to have dinner together.
Seeing the disheveled Qiao Xi, Ye Manman couldn’t help but tease, “Our professional number one, how is the menial work going?”
Wu Yachun’s sarcasm was more pointed, “I heard she even went to mop the floor. Our housemaid doesn’t even have to do such work. Truly worthy of being the capable country girl.”
Qiao Xi ignored them, changed clothes, and went out to take the bus.
“Manman, she couldn’t have been dumped by her sugar daddy, could she? Actually taking the bus!” Wu Yachun said affectionately, holding Ye Manman’s hand.
She thought Ye Manman was one of her kind, coming from a superior family background. What was most important was hearing from Ye Manman that she knew the daughter of the Huo Family.
Although the Huo Family’s second branch had fallen on hard times, in the eyes of these ordinary rich people, Huo Sijiao was still an unreachable existence. Between the nouveau riche and the top-tier wealthy families, there was a huge chasm.
“She had it coming,” Ye Manman laughed.
Qiao Xi took the bus home, swaying all the way, the smell of disinfectant almost pickling her. After getting off the bus, she walked for over ten minutes before arriving at the villa area.
“Aunt Qian.”
“Oh my, Young Madam, it’s already dark. You haven’t had dinner yet, have you? I’ll heat up something for you.”
“I’ll go upstairs to shower first.”
She put down her things and returned to her room to quickly take a shower and change into clean clothes. Only then did she knock on Huo Xingzhou’s door.
“Come in.”
“Mr. Huo, I’m here to do the acupuncture for you.” Her voice was hoarse, and she looked very exhausted.
Huo Xingzhou’s gaze was fixed on her, watching her perform acupuncture on his legs as usual. Her pale, delicate hands were red and dry, standing out starkly.
The whole person was like frostbitten bok choy, wilted.
“Remove the needles in half an hour.”
Qiao Xi packed up the medicine kit and sat down to wait.
Huo Xingzhou didn’t speak, he watched as Qiao Xi’s head gradually lowered until at last, her eyes closed and she leaned on the rocking chair, asleep. He took out hand cream from the drawer and wheeled his chair closer.
The cold cream was squeezed into his palm, enveloping her hands and gently massaging them.
He thought Qiao Xi must have been mistreated at the hospital.
But she was a girl who could endure hardship, very resilient, and wouldn’t come home to complain. In the past, there was no one for her to complain to.
Half an hour passed, and she hadn’t woken up yet.
Huo Xingzhou didn’t want to disturb her, so he removed the needles himself. After a while, Aunt Qian came upstairs with food, asking quietly, “Is the Young Madam asleep?”
“Mhm.”
“She’s tired out.”
Aunt Qian said with pity, “What is she doing being an intern.”
Huo Xingzhou knew she wanted to get her diploma, and even stay at City Hospital, where she could apply for her medical license through the normal process in a year.
Actually, she didn’t need to work so hard, as long as Cheng Han was willing to acknowledge her as his apprentice.
But Cheng Han probably didn’t want to reveal his whereabouts yet.
“Aunt Qian, go to City Hospital tomorrow to inquire if she’s being deliberately made things difficult for.”
“Alright. I’ll leave the food here, let the Young Madam eat when she wakes up.”
Huo Xingzhou gave a slight nod, and after Aunt Qian left, he picked up the sleeping figure and placed her on the bed. She was sleeping so deeply that she didn’t wake throughout the ordeal.
Qiao Xi was roused the next morning by hunger, her stomach rumbling loudly.
She woke up feeling refreshed and alert, but as she opened her eyes, she noticed something different. The body next to her was warm, and as she slowly turned her head, she saw Huo Xingzhou’s striking, enlarged face.
She gasped in shock.
Huo Xingzhou seemed to sense something, and his arm shifted slightly.
Qiao Xi quickly closed her eyes and pretended to sleep, her heart pounding like a drum.
“Sleep some more, or you’ll be late for work.” The man’s voice in the morning was sexy and husky.
Qiao Xi couldn’t pretend any longer, she opened her eyes and said calmly, “Mr. Huo, good morning.”
“Do you experience blackouts when you sleep?”
He lay on the side of the bed very lazily, asking with implied meaning.
Qiao Xi blushed and said quietly, “No, I’m going to wash up.”
Behind her, Huo Xingzhou let out a pleased chuckle.
Qiao Xi nearly tripped over her own feet, her face reddening all the way to her neck.
“Young Master, Young Madam! Time for breakfast!” Aunt Qian called out, with a table full of nutritious breakfast laid out.
The two of them arrived at the table leisurely.
Aunt Qian asked with a smile, “Young Madam, how was the packed dinner yesterday? I made you another one today.”
Qiao Xi forced a stiff smile and lied, “It was delicious.”
“That’s good then.”
Aunt Qian also packed some expensive fruits for her, “Take these to share with your colleagues.”
“Alright.”
Huo Xingzhou noticed her discomfort, and when Qiao Xi finished her meal and was leaving, he spoke up, “Qiao Xi, after work tonight…”
“Hmm?”
Qiao Xi looked at him, puzzled.
“Never mind, it’s nothing.” He teased.
What do you think?
