Chapter 676: A Divine Beast Must Avenge Its Grudges
Chapter 676: A Divine Beast Must Avenge Its Grudges
"It seems this sword manual is truly destined to be with you!"
Yan Cangtian let out a bitter smile. When it came to fateful encounters, they only truly happened when the right person came along. Otherwise, even the most valuable items could go unnoticed and fade away in obscurity.
"Thank you, Elder Yan!" Ling Feng clutched the Art of Simple Detachment like a rare treasure. A sword manual capable of directly enhancing sword will... There likely isn't a second one in the entire world.
This isn't merely a sky-tier sword technique; it might even reach the sacred or divine-tier level! Just what kind of master had Yan Cangtian's teacher been to acquire such a powerful and mysterious sword manual?
"Don't get too excited just yet," Yan Cangtian said with a slight smile. "According to my teacher, he only obtained half of this manual. As for where the other half is, only heaven knows."
Ling Feng rubbed his nose thoughtfully. "For now, half of the Art of Simple Detachment is enough. As for the other half..."
A gleam of determination flashed in Ling Feng's eyes. While he didn't yet have a clear lead, he wasn't entirely without options.
The Tiance Clan's skill in interpreting heavenly secrets might just come in handy here. Given his close relationship with them, not to mention his bond with Tiance Sacred Master Tuoba Yan, asking them to help locate the rest of this manual didn't seem too far-fetched.
Seeing the confident expression on Ling Feng's face, Yan Cangtian shook his head with a laugh. "Alright, you've got the manual, and it's time for me to continue my seclusion. Give me ten days or so, hehe!"
Yan Cangtian grinned broadly. After a period of accumulation, combined with his use of the Earth-Fire True Essence, his cultivation level was on the verge of a breakthrough to the second level of the Creation Realm!
For someone who had just advanced to being a human emperor to reach another breakthrough in just a month, Yan Cangtian was truly a formidable individual!
"Elder Yan, before I leave for the Battlefield of the Gods and Demons, there are two fellows I may need you to look after."
As he spoke, Ling Feng summoned his despicable donkey and little Qiongqi from the Five Elements Heavenly Palace. Yan Cangtian had seen the donkey before, but this was his first time meeting the little Qiongqi.
"A demon with the Qiongqi bloodline..." Yan Cangtian looked at Ling Feng in disbelief. "As far as I know, the Qiongqi bloodline is possessed by just the Qiongqi Demon Emperor's lineage. Kid, you've got guts to steal the descendant of the Qiongqi Demon Emperor!"
Ling Feng shook his head. "Elder Yan, little Qiongqi wasn't stolen. The Qiongqi Demon Emperor personally entrusted him to me. You may not know, but the Qiongqi Demon Emperor was actually killed by another demon emperor of the demon clan."
"A peak demon emperor, meeting such a tragic end... What a pity," Yan Cangtian sighed, and then added, "Mm-hmm, the Battlefield of the Gods and Demons does indeed prevent taking demonic pets with you. They can stay with me temporarily while you're away."
"Forget it, smelly kid!" The donkey, having overheard the discussion about the Battlefield of the Gods and Demons, immediately protested. @@novelbin@@
To pull spatial fragments from the void required the strength of a powerful great emperor. This was a feat possible only for those of frightening power. Though the donkey had ascended to demon emperor, he wasn't foolish enough to force his way through an emperor-level restriction, knowing he'd likely perish in the attempt.
The despicable donkey, despite his greed, valued his life above all.
"Actually, I don't need to stay here," he declared boldly. "This divine beast intends to take this opportunity to train little Qiongqi in the demonic beast forest. We're demons, after all. We must maintain some ferocity; otherwise, we’ll be useless."
Ling Feng nodded in agreement. It was rare for the despicable donkey to consider little Qiongqi's growth, so he had no reason to object. "Fine, go and get some experience, but make sure you don't cause trouble!"
"How could I!?" The donkey immediately pledged, "Do I look like the kind of divine beast who stirs up trouble? Relax and bring back plenty of treasures from the Battlefield of the Gods and Demons to honor Granddaddy Divine Donkey. I'll handle everything else!"
"I'll believe you just this once."
Ling Feng smirked, but he had a feeling that if the donkey didn't cause trouble, it would be quite the miracle.
"Hehe..." The despicable donkey's shifty eyes darted around.
Avoid trouble?
Impossible!
I haven't settled that old grudge with the Tianmeng Chamber of Commerce's supreme elder, Feng Wuhen, yet. Now that this divine beast is a demon emperor, it's time to give the Chamber some grief.
A divine beast who doesn't avenge its grudge... Is it still considered a divine beast?
...
Time flew by, and the day of the Battlefield of the Gods and Demons' opening finally arrived.
Wen Tingguang arrived as planned, but someone else had arrived even earlier. It was the young lady, Yue Yunlan, from the Cangqiong Sect.
Li Bufan and Jiang Xiaofan were chosen as her escorts to join her in the Battlefield of the Gods and Demons.
Ling Feng had given his two spots to Tuoba Yan and Mu Qianxue.
With three great beauties in one place, the onlookers were practically blinded with envy!
When Wen Tingguang saw Yue Yunlan, he understood immediately and chuckled. "You sure are sharp, kid, asking Lan to help. There's no way she'd refuse!"
"Uncle Wen!" Yue Yunlan blushed slightly, giving Wen Tingguang a shy look.
"All right, those entering the Battlefield of the Gods and Demons, follow me. The rest stay behind."
Wen Tingguang led Ling Feng and his group and flew swiftly towards Cangqiong Mountain.
Not long after they'd left, Lin Xian'er and Qin Wanwan arrived, each carrying a lunch box. Although they couldn't enter the battlefield, they'd still come to see Ling Feng off.
Unfortunately, they were just a bit too late.
"Oh wow, breakfast!" Wang Yishan, the perpetual freeloader, spotted the lunch boxes and grinned. "Brother Feng has already left, so why don't you let me sample both your cooking?"
Lin Xian'er and Qin Wanwan exchanged glances before handing their boxes to Wang Yishan.
"All right, taste both and tell us which is better!" Lin Xian'er said with a huff.
"My culinary skills were taught by a royal family chef, Senior Sister Lin. While you may be my senior, my cooking leaves yours in the dust!" Qin Wanwan raised a brow, unwilling to concede.
"Boasting comes easy to you, doesn't it?" Lin Xian'er retorted, giving Wang Yishan a piercing look. "Eat up, and let's see whose cooking is superior!"
"Yes, taste both! You'll find mine much better!" Qin Wanwan urged him on.
"Hahaha..."
Caught between them, Wang Yishan sheepishly scratched his head and began eating.
As he sampled the green vegetables from Lin Xian'er's box, his face turned green.
Struggling to swallow, he then tried some of Qin Wanwan's food and winced. It was just as dreadful!
What do you think?
