Vernon Ashkelon found himself inside the world of one of his favorite literary works. The issue was that his life trajectory was far removed from when and where the story took place. Instead of undergoing an exciting life in the Imperial Academy, Vernon busied himself amongst the sea of foreign invasions. He duked himself against the strongest of foes for more than a decade.
And when he thought that this was all there is to it in life, his superiors summoned him along with others to the capital to receive new orders. It was at this moment where he would intersect with the once forgotten characters. He was to take three disciples from amongst the recent graduates of the Imperial Academy. The war had taken a toll on the Empire and in doing so, they had no other choice but to send the greenhorns to battle.
Vernon was furious when he not only has to play babysitter, but he also has to watch over the disguised Fifth Imperial Princess! The lass, known to have died later on in the story, had death written all over her face and raised a death flag over Vernon. Alas, it was not up to him to choose. Now he could only buckle up and face the bleak future ahead of him.
