He was absent from the birth and upbringing of his children, hence, they didn’t recognize him and saw him as a stranger.

But he loved them deeply.

She was not sure if it was her comforting words that worked or if it was truly just blood being thicker than water, Haohao and Chenchen soon calmed down.
