Chapter 91: 091: Xu Fang: I dumped Jiang Zhi!

Chapter 91: 091: Xu Fang: I dumped Jiang Zhi!

At nine o’clock, Zhou Xufang returned home, did nothing, and just sat still for an hour.

The computer was on, and messages from Shuangjiang kept coming one after another.

“I have managed your properties and funds, Jiang Zhi won’t find out.”

“I did an estimate, and you’re still short by about one billion.”

“I tried to check the Peace Talisman hangings from Lingdu Temple, I’ve sent you the new list.”

Zhou Xufang had no reaction; though her eyes were on the computer, her mind was elsewhere.

...

“Xu Fang.”

Shuangjiang made a clicking sound.

She was still zoning out.

Shuangjiang clicked again in a series, “Xu Fang.”

She finally looked up, her gaze empty, speaking to herself, “Jiang Zhi is mad at me.”

“Jiang Zhi is ignoring me.”

“Jiang Zhi isn’t talking to me.”

She said it three times, each more panicky and remorseful than the last; she even ripped the cushion and bit her lip until it bled.

Shuangjiang sent a question mark.

“I sent Jiang Zhi so many periods, and he hasn’t responded to me,” Zhou Xufang spoke more and more sorrowfully, her shoulders slumped, devoid of any spirit, looking like the sky was falling, “he doesn’t want to bother with me.”

She felt terrible.

Shuangjiang didn’t know how to console her, and after seeing her sit a while longer, she couldn’t sit still anymore.

“Where are you going?”

She stood up from the chair, her expression desolate, “I’m going on a mission.” Even if Jiang Zhi was ignoring her, she would still protect him.

The computer screen suddenly switched to a surveillance feed.

Shuangjiang sent a message, “Someone’s at the door.”

Only then did Zhou Xufang gather a trace of spirit to listen to the noises downstairs; after making sure of the footsteps, she put on a coat that wrapped her from head to foot and went downstairs.

With her hood on, she opened the door and only poked her head out, “Who’s it?”

Her voice was a bit cold and listless.

At the door stood three men, all in the uniforms of a logistics company, with the two at the back carrying a box, and the man at the front asking, “Are you Miss Zhou Xufang?”

“I am.”

Her face was small, half-hidden in her clothing.

The delivery man couldn’t make out her face and found her chill, piercing eyes a bit disconcerting, he handed over the delivery slip, “Your chandelier, please sign here.”

She looked up upon hearing that.

Only then did the delivery guy see her face clearly, a pretty girl with an aura of keeping others at a distance.

She took the slip, signed, and handed it back, “Thank you.”

Her hands were pale and delicate, clearly not often exposed to sunlight. The delivery guy, without any ill intentions, took a second look and asked, “Do you need us to carry it upstairs for you?” It’s very heavy; how could a delicate girl like you lift it?

Her response was cold and blunt, “No need.” She reached out from behind the door, took the box with one hand, and effortlessly lifted it, not even fluttering an eyelash.

“!”

The delivery guy was shocked, “Do you need help installing it?”

She shook her head and said thank you.

She had once worked part-time as an electrician and could install it herself; she carried the box into the building, said thanks again, and closed the door.

The delivery guy was stunned again and couldn’t help asking his colleague, “How heavy is that box?”

“Over a hundred pounds.”

“I watched that girl lift it like it was a head of cabbage.”

“…”

Zhou Xufang carried the ‘cabbage’ into the house with one hand, opened the box to take a look, and felt even more disheartened. She squatted down beside the box, her head hanging down, once again muttering to herself.

“Jiang Zhi bought me a lamp.”

“Jiang Zhi carried me last night.”

“Jiang Zhi is too good to me.”

“He’s so good to me, and I still made him angry.” She was so regretful.

“I’m so awful.” So despondent.

“I am trashy!” So annoyed!

Zhou Xufang felt exceedingly terrible, her world seemed grayed out; without being with him, how could she so recklessly get close to Jiang Zhi, and even more recklessly accept his kindness.

She was angry with herself, “I am a major trashy woman!”

Shuangjiang: “…”

Seeing Zhou Xufang self-criticize in such a way, Shuangjiang suggested, “Why not try to smooth things over with him?”

Smooth things over?

Zhou Xufang was lost in confusion.

By four o’clock in the afternoon, the top trending headline was “Famous Director Jiang Visits Police Station with a Beautiful Woman at Night”, whereas the second and third headlines were about a celebrity couple’s wedding.

The wedding was held on a cruise ship and almost half of the entertainment industry was invited, including the infamous Director Jiang.

The wedding was not open to the media, maintaining a high level of secrecy. Journalist friends could only lie in wait outside the yacht on the red carpet, snagging whoever came by and digging up whatever they could.

Media friends found that Director Jiang’s mood was extremely bad today, incredibly explosive!

“Director Jiang, could you answer a question? Last night at the police station—”

He didn’t let them finish, his eyes turning cold, “None of your business!”

“And the lady who was with you—”

Again, not letting them finish, Director Jiang straightforwardly pushed away the camera, his sickly yet beautiful face showing no trace of amiability, all but distant and indifferent, “Which media are you from?”

Media friends: “!”

You’re the boss, I won’t dare to ask anymore, no more daring to ask…

Jiang Wei’er also came today, not as the Fifth Miss of the Jiang Family, but as a new assistant to the Weaver, who was known for her wild nature and had vanished as soon as she got on the cruise, not knowing where she had gone off to roam.

Taking advantage of the absence of others on the deck, Jiang Wei’er called out “Brother Zhi”, “Why are you so angry?”

Since boarding, he had been sulking, his face wearing an ‘stay away from me’ expression and he didn’t seem in good spirit, covering his mouth and nose with a handkerchief and coughing intermittently.

“This cough of yours doesn’t seem to get any better.”

“It won’t get better.” His lips were slightly pale, and it was unclear who he was irritated at; his temper flared, partly despairing, “Next year I’ll be twenty-five, should start preparing for my coffin.”

It was rumored that the young master of the Jiang Family wouldn’t live past twenty-five.

Jiang Wei’er just laughed, throwing his words right back at him, “No need for a coffin, misfortune lingers for a thousand years.” She stopped joking and then mentioned something serious, “Just now, the old lady called me.”

Jiang Zhi was not very interested.

She continued, “She asked me if you were in love.” With all the fuss on Weibo, naturally, the old lady had also heard the rumors and had even started probing her.

Then, Jiang Zhi finally turned to look at her.

“I said yes,” she joked pretentiously, “I said our little ancestor of the Jiang Family is out there acting like someone else’s grandson.”

No sooner had she finished than his face clouded over, fury shooting from his peach blossom eyes, as if it could materialize, sharp enough to draw blood if it could.

Zhou Xufang was truly dear to his heart, not to be spoken of lightly.

Jiang Wei’er chuckled, “I was joking.” Strangely enough, “What, can’t I say that?”

“Fifth Aunt.”

He suddenly addressed her so solemnly.

Jiang Wei’er was taken aback, “What’s the matter? Such a grave tone.” It was unusual.

Jiang Zhi, rarely this somber and focused, “Don’t mention anything about Zhou Xufang to any of the Jiang Family members.” Knowing his seriousness, only a few people were in the know.

His tone was almost pleading as he lowered his own stance.

Although Jiang Wei’er had never confronted him directly before, his typical indifferent and detached demeanor as a result of being raised in a prominent family like the Jiangs made him appear as though he had stepped right out of an ancient painting, devoid of vitality, rarely showing such heartfelt concern.

She asked, “Does that include your grandmother?”

Jiang Zhi replied, “Including her.”

This pair of grandfather and grandson, one insinuating indirectly, the other secretly diverting, both had their own schemes.

“Understood.” Jiang Wei’er lifted her skirt and headed towards the cruise ship’s guest rooms, leaving a remark as she walked away, “Brother Zhi, you’re still a Jiang after all.”

Just as she left, the Xue Family uncle and nephew arrived.

Xue Baoyi happened to hear Jiang Wei’er’s last remark, sensing a palpable tension, “What’s up with you two, your expressions so serious?”

“It’s nothing,” Jiang Zhi did not wish to elaborate.

Xue Bingxue’s eyes reluctantly moved away from the direction Jiang Wei’er had left, glaring at Jiang Zhi, “Jiang Zhi, did you bully Wei’er again?”

Jiang Zhi gave no definite response, eyeing his protective demeanor, “If she felt wronged, would you stand up for her?”

Without a second thought, Xue Bingxue replied, “Of course.”

Fine.

Jiang Zhi casually threw out, “Xue Bingxue, your Jiang Wei’er has been cuckolded.”

Xue Bingxue’s youthful, collagen-rich face tightened, “What did you say?”

He did not continue, “Just wait, the old lady will come looking for you.”

After that, he left with a drag in his steps.

Xue Bingxue stood stunned for a moment then chased after Jiang Wei’er.

Xue Baoyi was utterly confused, unable to grasp the situation. Glancing from side to side, he followed Jiang Zhi, “Brother Zhi, what are you implying? Didn’t you not want my uncle involved in this mess?”

“I don’t want to, but he’s already involved.”

Xue Baoyi didn’t understand, “What do you mean?”

Jiang Zhi gave him a sidelong glance, “Do you know what my grandmother is best at?”

What?

What?!

Xue Baoyi was about to explode, “Can’t you speak plainly?” Dammit, he felt like his intelligence wasn’t sufficient.
