Chapter 14: 15. So close yet so far Chapter 14: 15. So close yet so far Ivy Aretha first accompanied Jaysen Smith to send Sienna Harrison away and then took his car to go home. By the time she reached home, it was almost twelve o’clock.

As soon as she got home, before she even had a chance to take a shower, Ivy tiptoed to check on Bianca Aretha in her room. Only after seeing her daughter sleeping soundly in bed did she shake her head and let out a sigh of relief.

Her precious baby had picked up a bad habit of sleeping on her stomach. Despite having slept soundly while they were out, she had somehow switched to sleeping on her stomach. This sleeping position put pressure on the heart and was especially bad for children who hadn’t fully developed yet.

Daddy? She had never realized that the role of a father was so important in her daughter’s young heart. She had always thought that as long as she loved Bianca enough and cherished her, she could provide her with the missing fatherly love as well. She never considered that the role of a father in her life was irreplaceable.

“Mommy, did someone bully you?”

After she finished speaking, the little girl sat up in bed, wiped Ivy’s tears with her little hands, and said in a childish voice, “If someone bullied you, tell baby, and baby will take revenge for you!”

Hearing these words, Ivy laughed, and her tears fell even more fiercely, like beads on a broken string, unable to stop.

Letting Bianca wipe the tears from her face, Ivy finally kissed the little girl and cleared her throat, smiling as she spoke: “With such a brave baby, who would dare to bully mommy? From now on, mommy will be under baby’s protection!”

Bianca, seeing that Ivy had finally stopped crying, jumped up and kissed her on the cheek.

After a night’s sleep, Ivy bounced back to her unyielding spirit, and her momentary sadness had vanished after sleeping.

Glancing at her lovely little daughter flitting before her eyes, Ivy shamelessly said, “It’s good that mommy is not wanted by anyone. This way, mommy will belong to baby alone!”

Bianca tossed the prepared breakfast in front of Ivy and sighed, “Mommy, let me tell you something honestly, women like you aren’t meant to stay at home. Don’t be too picky!”

Ivy: “…”

Before Ivy could fully react, her daughter continued in her mature tone, “After all, you’re carrying me as a burden, and you don’t have much room to be picky. Just settle for whatever comes your way!”
