The CEO’s Billion Dollar Bride

Chapter 17 - 17 18、A step away from you

Chapter 17: 18、A step away from you Chapter 17: 18、A step away from you Suddenly, Ivy Aretha looked up at Anna, only to see her staring blankly at her but her gaze was actually falling… behind her.

Wait, behind?

In an instant, Ivy felt a chilling gust of wind sweep behind her, so cold it made her shiver and her skin prickle.

“Michael, so this is your status in the eyes of women, huh?”

A gentle voice chuckled.

Hearing the faintly familiar voice, Ivy unconsciously turned around…

Only to see Jaysen Smith in a white suit standing opposite her. A hint of a smile playing on his lips, next to him was Michael Gordon in a black suit, his face absolutely livid.

“Mr. Gordon, when… when did you return?”

Ivy has made her fair share of behind the back comments, but this is the first time she’s been caught in the act. To say it wasn’t awkward would be an understatement.

Michael Gordon stared at her slightly embarrassed face, nodded demurely and said, “If I hadn’t come back, my image of a ‘God’ would have been completely tarnished by you!”

Ivy Aretha: “…”

‘God’? Don’t ‘Gods’ usually attract admirers? Aren’t ‘Gods’ supposed to be the ones who forced themselves on her six years ago?

She often stressed that some things that had passed didn’t matter anymore. After all, he paid the price for that one time, and she ended up gaining a lovely and attentive darling.

But, for some reason, every time she stood before him, despite her usual calm demeanor, she found it hard to maintain control.

“Pfft!”

As Ivy stood there, her beautiful face a picture of consternation, not knowing how to respond, Jaysen Smith couldn’t hold back his laughter, breaking the tense silence.

“Michael, maybe you should quit being a ‘God’ who only attracts trouble!”

Although Jaysen didn’t particularly enjoy watching others, a scene involving Michael was indeed a rare treat.

“What kind of a man is it, who doesn’t attract admirers?”

Michael Gordon glanced at Jaysen, who was enjoying the spectacle, spoke dismissively, then turned his gaze back to Ivy, “What good is a CEO who doesn’t even have admirers? What use is a personal secretary then?”

After saying this, with a clouded face and without uttering a single word, he bypassed Ivy and headed towards his office, leaving Ivy standing in bewilderment.

Chuckling, Jaysen followed Michael Gordon. As he passed Ivy, he patted her shoulder, “Don’t take it to heart. He’s just like that, handsome men can’t stand beautiful women, right?”

“Exactly!”

It was only after Ivy responded with these two words that she realized she was making fun of Jaysen. She immediately wished she could slap herself.

“Ivy, it’s okay!” Anna chuckled and pat her shoulder, “The CEO is actually a decent guy, he just likes to tease a little, but working together is quite smooth!”

Anna was telling the truth. Although Michael Gordon can be argumentative, even delighting in teasing others, he was a gentleman. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have stayed by his side long enough to go from being a maiden to a married woman.

“Keep it up, Ivy, I’ll be back after my wedding leave. It’s not a long time!”

After handing over the day’s work to Ivy, Anna was off duty and left, as she had requested time off. Ivy finished her work and remembered that she had to attend a star signing ceremony at Gorda Hotel that evening.

Fearing she wouldn’t make it in time, she swiftly picked up her daughter from the kindergarten, and after sharing a simple dinner with her, changed into a new dress and hurried off to Gorda Hotel.

Since she was attending in the capacity of Michael Gordon’s secretary and expected to act as an assistant, Ivy had meticulously memorized all the tasks Anna had shared with her that day.

The event was slated to start at eight. Ivy was there by seven thirty. She looked around the banquet hall- quite a few people had already arrived, but there was no sign of Michael Gordon.

Just as she was pondering where to wait, a deep and sonorous voice broke her reverie.

“Coming to a banquet, and you’re dressed like this?”

Startled by the sudden voice, Ivy almost lost her balance. Looking up, she saw Michael Gordon standing in front of her. His tall frame, almost one meter eighty, offered a stark contrast to her height – not even one meter seventy even with her high heels on.

Leaning over, his head was exactly at her ear level, but his gaze landed on her chest…

Instinctively, Ivy covered her chest. She was wearing a sleeveless white long dress today- a professional outfit wasn’t suitable for a hotel, but dressing ostentatiously for a contract signing wasn’t suitable for her role as a secretary either.

So, she chose a refined and form-fitting white long dress- a universally appropriate outfit.

Michael Gordon looked amused by her reaction. He only glanced at her chest, did she really need to adopt such a defensive stance as if she were warding off a wolf?

“Even if your buns are wrapped in the form of dumplings, there’s nothing worth watching!” Michael Gordon looked at her scornfully, “Even if you strip naked, there’s nothing to see!”

Buns wrapped into dumplings?

Ivy opened her eyes wide in incredulity. Who says there’s nothing worth watching if she strips naked? Her bra size is a standard 34C, the perfect size in a man’s eyes, the ideal bra size in a woman’s eyes. It’s the perfect size, yet it’s being scorned by this man.

The key point is that she’s here to work, not to show off her body. It’s bad enough that she has to work overtime, why does she have to stand here and be insulted by this asshole?

“Mr. Gordon, I’m here to assist, not to sell flesh!”

So, she doesn’t care how she dresses!

Heh, she’s really a prickly one.

Michael Gordon cast a glance at her, then pointed towards the men and women in the banquet hall. “Do you think you have enough to sell flesh here?”

Following Michael Gordon’s gaze, Ivy saw the men and women in the banquet hall, each dressed in dazzling attire, all in formal dress, their exquisite makeup accentuating the splendour of their gorgeous gowns under the colorful lights. Her eyes were momentarily dazzled.

On closer inspection, the elegant men and women bustling around seemed surprisingly familiar. After a while, Ivy finally realised that those familiar, attractive faces were A-list movie stars and popular performers.

One of them was even her darling daughter’s favourite TV host.

Oh my God, no wonder Michael Gordon said she didn’t have enough to ‘sell flesh’ here.

“Get her a new dress!”

Before Ivy could recover from her shock, Michael issued an order to someone nearby, “She’s my date!”

“Yes, Young Master Gordon!”

Date? She’s a secretary, when did she become his date?

“I’m not…”

Before she could refuse, she was dragged into the hotel’s makeup room.

Immediately, a group of people started applying makeup on her and fixing her hair without considering her opinion. Before she could refuse, they had repackaged her and presented her to Michael Gordon.
