The Country Life Diary of a Gangster’s Secretary

Chapter 132

Hyesung's goal was simple. All he needed was evidence that Yushin and Daehyun, along with Jung Se-jin, had maintained a long-term corrupt relationship involving shady deals.

“Do you really think they left anything behind?”

Hyesung followed closely behind Kim Seong-han. After concluding their strategy meeting, the two were carefully making their way through the dense bushes surrounding the building. Rather than using the obvious entrance, they were circling the perimeter to see if there was another way in. Given that they were attempting a covert operation, entering through the main entrance was out of the question. However, this wasn’t a heavily guarded fortress—just a building standing alone on a large plot of land—so Seong-han was confident there would be another way inside.

“They must have left something. Didn’t you say Yushin was covering up for someone?”

“Yes.”@@novelbin@@

He didn’t explicitly mention Daehyun, just to be cautious.

“It’s pretty common for gangsters to make money by covering up for government officials or chaebols. But those kinds of relationships usually don’t end well. Do you know why?”

“Because they don’t trust each other?”

“Exactly. Like you said, people who resort to violence and shady dealings inherently don’t trust others. They know better than anyone that they’re being used by those with power. That’s why they always try to keep some insurance.”
