When Hyesung scratched his head, the nurse in charge smiled cutely. Since he had been hospitalized for a few days, he had naturally started talking to the medical staff in charge. Out of all of them, he had become close enough to occasionally talk about everyday life with the nurse he bumped into the most.

Before Lee Hyuk was discharged, he had told her that they were dating, thinking that she might look strange because she was always sticking close to him and meddling in his affairs, so that she wouldn’t cause any more misunderstandings.

“If you were upset about anything, I’ll apologize on your behalf.”

“Huh? Not at all. There are so many patients in this hospital who can’t even speak.”

The nurse added that she had already been through countless hardships, and that she had almost become enlightened, telling him not to worry.

The hospital life that had always felt suffocating passed by surprisingly quickly. Sungjin visited almost once a week and brought me delicious food, and Park Dohyun visited almost every weekend and stayed. He had gotten a job thanks to Hyesung’s advice and was busy as a new employee, so I told him he could stop coming, but he cried and said he was worried every time, so I couldn’t stop him.

Leehyuk always came to my hospital room after work, and not only that, but he also came during lunch or when work was over early. Thanks to him, I was able to spend my boring and dull hospital stay in a noisy manner.

“Today is the last time I can talk comfortably with Hyesung like this.”

“Yes. Thank you for everything.”

And that life ended today.
