Chapter 1030: Madness

“Die!”

Can broke her invisibility beside Gao Xinxin, holding an anti-matter handgun to fire at Gao Xinxin from a point-blank distance.

A black trail that almost distorted space itself streaked toward Gao Xinxin. The counterforce was so great that Can stumbled backward and almost fell.

Anti-matter bullets were the bane of force fields. It couldn’t be defended against, only dodged.

The bullet pierced through Gao Xinxin’s body, but continued to hit the cargo container on her side without stopping.

In an instant, a big chunk was carved from the container like an invisible giant monster had taken a bite of it.

Can stared in disbelief as the Gao Xinxin she hit blurred. It was merely a hologram.

Hum. The real Gao Xinxin showed up two meters behind the afterimage. She turned around and smiled at Can.

Whoosh.

It all happened so quickly that Gao Yang only caught a flurry of white and a flicker from the white skeletal wings consisting of light behind Gao Xinxin’s back. Holding the anti-matter gun with both hands, Can stood where she was with tears running down her widened eyes. She didn’t know what had happened.

She could no longer move her body. Her despairing eyes slowly moved to look at Gao Yang. Her lips parted, but no sound came out.

Hiss.

Three bleeding lines cut across Can’s neck, chest, and waist. Then her body fell to the ground in four chunks, quickly rendered into a large pool of blood.

“Can!”

Xiran, who had hidden himself for an opening, lost his calm and rushed Gao Xinxin with a laser gun.

In seconds, the same scene repeated, and another pile of sliced-up body parts and pooling blood was left beside Gao Yang.

Now that the annoying flies were dealt with, Gao Xinxin turned back to Gao Yang and repeated, “When did you wake up, Brother?”

Gao Yang’s expression remained impassive, as if his facial muscles had atrophied.

The silence stretched for seconds.

“Ha.”

Gao Yang laughed.

Gao Xinxin cocked her head. “What are you laughing about, Brother?”

“Hahaha.”

Ignoring her, Gao Yang continued to laugh.

“Hahahaha...”

“Ahahahahaha...”

He laughed so hard he almost doubled over, paying Gao Xinxin no attention.

The confusion on Gao Xinxin’s face morphed into annoyance. “You really deserve death, Brother.”

She lifted her right hand, transforming it into a light cannon.

Boom! Tremendous energy washed over Gao Yang, bisecting the warehouse behind him and leaving a long ditch on the ground that stretched to the port by the river, dividing the water and triggering two great splashes.

“Ahahahaha!”

Gao Yang’s laughter persisted.

He remained where he was. Although he was standing amid a ditch, he and the ground under his feet were wholly intact, somehow avoiding the damage of the energy beam.

Gao Xinxin didn’t understand either. There was no scenario like this in her database.

The skeletal wings behind her back turned back into metal and expanded slowly, summoning an overwhelming force field from the sky.

Clang—

Rumble—

The ground crumbled around Gao Yang, turning into a deep wide well. Fluctuating waves spread outward, and countless cargo containers were flung away. The warehouses in the area crumbled one after another.

Yet Gao Yang and the ground he stood on were still intact, a pole in the center of the “well”.

“Ahahahahahaha!”

And he was still laughing.

The black of Gao Xinxin’s eyes spread to fill the white, then turned a dark red.

All of her skeletal wings aimed at Gao Yang, shooting out deadly shots of tracking lasers. They zeroed in on Gao Yang and rained down on him.

Yet all lasers turned away to avoid Gao Yang, brushing past him.

With the instruction to lock onto the target, the lasers persisted. They turned back and rushed toward Gao Yang once more, but all avoided him uncontrollably.

Like hundreds of thin red snakes, they kept lunging at Gao Yang yet turned away every time. The persistence saw no result. In the end, they lost momentum and hit the ground around Gao Yang, triggering a series of explosions.

Another round of firepower bombarded Gao Yang, stronger than the previous one. No matter how close death was to him, though, he remained untouched.

“Hahahahaha!”

Gao Yang spread his arms and howled with laughter. Even the thunderous firing couldn’t drown out his mad, reverberating laughter.

“Hahahahahahahahaha!”

“Who are you?”

“Where are you going?”

“Do you choose forgiveness, or death?”

“Who am I?”

“Where am I going?”

“Do I choose survival, or destruction?”

“What is true?”

“What is false?”

“Is a false freedom true?”

“Is a free falseness false?”

“Does existence equate to self?”

“Does self really exist?”

“If the beginning is nothingness, where is the truth?”

“If nothingness is the end, what is the need for truth?”

“Hahahaha!”

“Hahahahahaha!”

“Hahahahahahaha!”
