The Dungeon Conquerors: Journey to the Peak

Chapter 346 Ch 349: Pleasant Conversation and Teleportation

Rein's group and the city lord were planning to meet inside a dilapidated house that was a no entry zone for the citizens. This house was supposed to be affected by a dangerous magic experiment and was contaminated by harmful mana. So coming here was not good for health.@@novelbin@@

But all that was actually a lie. This house was a place prepared by the city lord to hold secret meetings. Even though the house itself was unsuitable to host reputable people, there was an underground basement in this house which was very well decorated and suitable for hosting even the members of the royal family.

That was exactly the room where the meeting between the city lord and Rein's group was taking place. All three of them were enjoying the best possible treatment that this place had to offer while having a pleasant conversation with the city lord himself.

At the very beginning of the conversation, Lopas was told that City Lord Arcor was actually her grandfather's student. The old duke Leonance had only a few students and most of them had managed to reach impressive heights.

Even though Arcor was the ruler of a large and prosperous city, among the Duke's students, his achievements were not that extraordinary. But still just getting chosen by the duke to be his student was a big deal and it showed that city lord Arcor had a high potential as a mage.

Currently Arcor was a rank four mage which was quite impressive but not impressive enough for a student of a magus. Arcor lamented that after a traumatic incident in his past, his power of imagination had suffered terribly. For that reason, he was unable to advance pass the fourth rank even though he did have the potential to reach the fifth rank.

This was a disappointing story and showed that there was more to being a mage except just talent. City Lord Arcor was quite unfortunate in this regard. But the city lord himself had no regret about this. Even after that traumatic incident, he had managed to turn his life back.

Even though reaching the fifth rank was looking like a far off dream for him now, his chance was not zero. So the City lord was ready to struggle for the rest of his life in order to reach that rank.

And even though Arcor had suffered a bit in his path as a mage, that was not the case for his path as a noble. With his incredible insights and intelligence, he had managed to get a very high authority in the royal court. So currently he was doing extremely well as a noble.

So talking was him was a very good experience for even Rein. He had spend most of his time studying magic in this world, so he was not very knowledgeable about various political situations regarding this nation. With his vast knowledge and experience regarding these things, the city lord was able to greatly help Rein out in this regard.

In exchange, Rein gave him quite a few valuable advice to progress in his path of magic. The problem regarding the psyche of a person was a very personal problem. So even for Rein, helpling the City Lord to directly reach the fifth rank was impossible. But still with the advice given by Rein, if Arcor could get past his traumatic experience in the future, then he would be able to make very fast progress.

...

The dialogue with the city lord was a very pleasant experience that all three of them enjoyed. Then after bidding goodbye to the city lord, they were ready to return back to the capital. It had been quite some time since they left the academy. After gaining a lot of experience, everyone was looking forward to going back to magic practice and increasing their ranks.

Flora and Mertha were already ready for departure, so as soon as Rein, Lopas and Luna returned, they were able to leave the inn. The journey to the capital would take several days to even weeks by public route and flying for such a long time was tiring for Flora and Mertha who were not used to it.

So Rein decided to just use teleportation. Teleporting directly to the capital was not possible because of the city protecting barrier and distance. But Rein had already prepared a secret house in a city located close to the capital for his teleportation destination. So that was the exact place where all of them teleported to.

For people with not very high amount of mana like Mertha, teleportation was a terrible experience. Rein was not aware of this as this was his first time using his void teleportation on a person with weak magical powers. So they decided to rest in the city for a day to allow Mertha's health to improve.

Fortunately, with her high magical talent, Flora was mostly fine other than a little headache. From what Mertha had described her experience to be, Rein feared that if Flora did not have a high talent as a mage, then their was a high chance that she might have suffered a trauma like the city lord from the teleportation experience. So Rein decided to be a bit cautious with his spells in the future going forward.

...

While Mertha was resting in the city close to the capital, the people responsible for keeping an close eye on her and Rein's group were losing their mind. Their target of observation had suddenly disappeared and they had no idea where to. Continue reading at My Virtual Library Empire

They understood that probably a stealth or translocation magjc was used for this act but knowing that did them no good. Their employer was a very strict person and if they reported about their failure, who knew what kind of harsh punishment they would need to go through.

All the men shuddered in fear for a moment and immediately ordered their underlings to thoroughly search the nearby cities. From the understanding of magic that they had, they were sure that their targets would not be able to go too far from here. With that in mind, they started search search for Rein and his group.

Would this organisation be able to find Rein's group when they were extremely far away from their location. The chance of that happening looked extremely low.
