Chapter 12 – Patricia Qing's Medicinal Field
"Brandon Jiang, Ashley Taibai."
Patricia Qing's voice rang out.
Brandon's entire body tensed, his teeth clenched as he desperately tried to conceal the fear in his heart.
But the overwhelming despair still surged uncontrollably within him. Alchemy required two mortals as sacrificial furnaces, and among the mortals present, only he and Ashley Taibai were available. Given Patricia Qing's nature, extracting their life force and Fortune to refine pills was all too normal!
Could it be that he was going to die on his first day in the sect?
Just then, Patricia Qing spoke:
"You two, go to my medicinal field and fetch two sacrificial furnaces. Grade D Spiritual Root is best."
"Once you leave, my child will guide you to the field. Remember, you must return with the materials within half an hour. If the alchemy fails, you will be held accountable."
Upon hearing this, Brandon let out a heavy sigh of relief, his body almost drenched in cold sweat.
Thank goodness! The people of the Heavenly Lotus Sect still followed some rules.
Even for newly inducted white-robed disciples, unless they made a mistake, they wouldn't be easily used as sacrificial furnaces.
He quickly bowed and said, "Yes, Senior Sister Patricia."
With that, he and Ashley Taibai left the grand hall together.
Outside the hall, they followed Patricia's child to a large bronze door.
The child introduced, "Behind this door is the master's medicinal field. The master needs two sacrificial furnaces; just pick two and don't touch anything else. If the master gets angry, you'll be locked in the field too."
Brandon nodded and thanked, "Thank you for the advice, Senior Sister."@@novelbin@@
Hearing Brandon address her as Senior Sister, the child's face flushed slightly, clearly pleased.

She patted Brandon's shoulder and said with satisfaction, "You're quite perceptive. I'll tell you a secret: the more lush they are, the higher the quality of their Spiritual Root."
"Alright, hurry inside. Don't delay the master's alchemy plans."
With that, she rotated the stone pillar beside the bronze door, and with a rumbling sound, the door opened a narrow crack.
"Lush... what does that mean?"
Brandon didn't quite understand the child's words and walked inside, puzzled.
When he saw the scene in the medicinal field, he understood.
Brandon stared blankly at the sight before him, his eyes widening.
At the entrance was a vast field, but instead of rice or wheat, it was filled with sacrificial furnaces.
No wonder this place was called a medicinal field. To these cultivators, mortal sacrificial furnaces were no different from ginseng or lingzhi, easier to cultivate and harvest.
Brandon felt a pang of sorrow for the fate of these mortals.
But this was the harsh reality of this world!
Taking a deep breath, Brandon calmed himself and prepared to quickly pick two sacrificial furnaces and leave.
As he was about to call Ashley Taibai to work, he noticed she was staring intently at the field, not with fear, but with excitement, her face slightly flushed.
"So that's how it is. No wonder the Heavenly Lotus Sect can support so many cultivators. They have the technique to cultivate sacrificial furnaces like herbs."
"This is incredible. I want to learn it too. I want to cultivate a medicinal field like this, but even bigger and more expansive!"
She muttered to herself, her eyes filled with an insatiable thirst for knowledge.
Brandon: "..."
What a cultivation prodigy.
Shaking his head, he ignored Ashley and went forward to select a sacrificial furnace.
He found a "lush" sacrificial furnace, which was of Grade D quality as Patricia Qing had requested.
Not daring to be careless with Patricia's instructions, Brandon decided to do his best.
He chose a Grade D sacrificial furnace, approached, and grabbed its legs, pulling it out with force.
Fortunately, the soil in the medicinal field was often loosened, making it easy for Brandon to pull out the sacrificial furnace, its feet having long roots like a real plant.
He hoisted the sacrificial furnace onto his shoulder and quickly headed for the exit.
Ashley finally snapped out of her reverie, picked a sacrificial furnace, and followed Brandon out.
Soon, they returned to Patricia Qing's alchemy hall.
Seeing the two sacrificial furnaces, the white-robed disciples exclaimed in admiration, flattering Patricia Qing and praising the excellent quality and efficacy of the sacrificial furnaces.
Patricia extracted the life force and Fortune from the two sacrificial furnaces and then threw them into the alchemy furnace.
At this point, the alchemy process was nearing completion. Patricia Qing formed a fire control seal with her hand, and the spiritual fire beneath the furnace flared up, melting all the ingredients together!
Wisps of pill fragrance wafted from the furnace.
In the next moment, Patricia's eyes focused:
"Collect!"
Instantly, round pills the size of dragon eyes flew out of the furnace, landing in the jade bottles Patricia had prepared.
She extinguished the spiritual fire and let out a long breath, satisfied.
"The quality of this batch of Void Pills is quite good."
The observing white-robed disciples also breathed a sigh of relief and quickly stepped forward to congratulate her. Brandon, not daring to be negligent, joined the crowd in offering congratulations.
But just as they had barely started congratulating her, Patricia Qing's smile gradually faded. She scanned the crowd with a serious expression and said:
"Don't be in such a hurry to flatter me. Tell me, what have you learned from this alchemy session?"
"When I ask you later, think carefully before you answer. If my evaluation of you is below Grade C, you know the consequences!"
Upon hearing this, many white-robed disciples' faces instantly stiffened.
Even Brandon's heart tightened.
What do you think?
