Chapter 6 – Brandon Jiang's answer
"What? A top-tier answer, she... she actually passed?!"
Everyone present was dumbfounded, staring at the young fairy in disbelief.
Killing a hundred thousand and killing ten thousand were both wrong, but killing a million was correct?
This answer was challenging all the mortals' common sense!
Yet, this was the correct answer.
In mid-air, the young fairy laughed for a while before finally stopping and looking again at the girl who had answered the question.
Her gaze was no longer cold but carried a hint of appreciation for a fellow cultivator.
"What is your name?" the young fairy asked.
"I am Ashley Taibai," Ashley replied with a smile, bowing respectfully.
The young fairy nodded slightly. "Good. You've passed the first round."
Then, she looked at the others in the square, her gaze turning cold and indifferent. "Someone has set an example. Now you should have some understanding."
This world thrives on killing. Absorbing the Fortune and power of living beings can enhance your cultivation and understanding of the Dao! Mortals have no power, so what you absorb is their life force."
The crowd stirred slightly, gaining a new understanding of the world of fairies.
Some found it hard to accept, but more were eager to try, ready to copy Ashley Taibai's answer.
Although killing a million people for cultivation went against their conscience, it was just for the assessment, not real killing, so they didn't feel too burdened.
Soon, someone mustered the courage to step forward and answer.
But someone was faster, blurting out the answer directly.
"Three fairies, if I were that cultivator, I would also choose to massacre a million people."
The one answering was none other than Brandon Jiang.
At this moment, his face was calm, without a trace of panic, as if he was confident in passing the assessment.
The surrounding people looked at Brandon with dissatisfaction and jealousy.
The great opportunity to pass the assessment had been snatched by him!
The young fairy's gaze fell on Brandon, but unlike with Ashley Taibai, it carried a hint of suspicion.
This was normal. The first to give a top-tier answer was a genius, but the later imitators' worth was questionable.
The young fairy scrutinized Brandon from head to toe before finally speaking.
"The same question, but with an added choice."
"As that cultivator, during your breakthrough, you can choose to move to a small country with a population of over ten million."
"Would you massacre a city of a million people or a small country of ten million? What would you choose?"

Hearing this question, everyone in the square was shocked!
There was a twist to the question!
They couldn't help but feel fortunate that they hadn't rushed to copy Ashley Taibai's answer, or they would be in trouble.
After all, the variables in this twist were too many, and a wrong answer could mean death!
Choosing between ten million and one million left many confused.@@novelbin@@
Although the three fairies seemed to support killing more people, ten million was too many, even for fairies.
Some people looked at Brandon with schadenfreude, waiting for him to mess up and meet a grim fate.
However, Brandon's answer was crisp and without hesitation.
"I choose to massacre ten million!"
Hearing this answer, Ashley Taibai's eyes brightened, and the young fairy's gaze became more serious.
The answer to this twist was not hard to guess, but answering so quickly proved that this person had a certain understanding of the path of cultivation.
The young fairy pondered for a moment before asking again.
"After massacring that small country and successfully breaking through, you find that the small country belongs to another cultivator. When that cultivator discovers his territory has been taken, he comes to confront you. How would you handle it?"
Hearing this question, the crowd couldn't help but gasp, looking at Brandon with pity.
This question was much harder than the previous two choices!
Because this question had no options and required consideration of many aspects.
More importantly, the previous questions were about cultivators and mortals, but this one was about cultivators and cultivators.
How should two beings of the same level interact?
Apologize, argue, or negotiate?
These mortals had no idea.
While everyone was confused, Brandon spoke again, and his words were shocking.
"I would kill that cultivator too, absorbing his Fortune and power!"
As soon as he said this, the crowd fell silent, then erupted in an uproar.
"What... what is he saying? He already mistakenly killed another fairy's entire country, and now he wants to kill the victim too? Does he have any conscience?!"
"You've already made a mistake; you should accept the punishment! Shouldn't you apologize to the other fairy?"
"Yes, even if a fairy's life is precious, killing ten million mortals, one life for ten million lives, is reasonable..."
The crowd couldn't help but criticize Brandon's choice, secretly mocking his recklessness.
Fairies and mortals were different. Fairies had immense power, and killing mortals was barely acceptable to them.
But the interaction between fairies should have some common ground with mortals. How could it be all about killing?
This crazy woman was answering recklessly; she was doomed, destined to die without a grave!
Many were already considering how they would answer if given the chance.
However, to everyone's surprise, the young fairy did not immediately kill Brandon.
Instead, she asked Brandon seriously.
"Why did you choose this way? Explain your thoughts."
Hearing this, the crowd was shocked, as if they had seen a ghost.
What did this mean? Was this answer correct?!
Impossible! How could this be!!!
Brandon ignored the others' shock and calmly said.
"If this person doesn't die, it will be troublesome and affect my path of cultivation. Moreover, since he didn't attack me immediately but came to reason with me, it shows he's not my match.
Mortals are greatly beneficial to cultivation, and I believe the effect of a cultivator is even better. Such a big piece of meat in front of me, it would be a waste not to kill."
After speaking, Brandon bowed to the three fairies and said solemnly.
"I am just a mortal, speaking presumptuously about fairy matters. There must be shortcomings. Please correct me."
The three fairies exchanged glances, looking very satisfied.
Finally, the young fairy turned to Brandon and smiled.
"You are very good, with a deep understanding of the path of cultivation. Your answer is also top-tier. Unexpectedly, in this seemingly ordinary recruitment event, we found two geniuses with profound wisdom like you and Ashley Taibai.Very good, indeed."
***
After the young fairy asked his name, Brandon stood aside, no longer speaking.
A weight was lifted from his heart.
The reason he could answer so decisively was not by chance but by true understanding.
The source of his understanding was Ashley Taibai's answer and the young fairy's guidance.
The young fairy had said that this world thrived on killing, and killing was the path to the Dao.
So, if one could kill a hundred thousand, they wouldn't just kill ten thousand. If one could kill ten million, they wouldn't just kill a million!
Even if they were both cultivators, if one had the ability to kill, they would kill directly!
Killing all things to strengthen oneself was the Dao, was the truth!
Even if it were billions, as long as it could enhance one's cultivation, then kill! Kill! Kill!
