The Extra Can't be A Hero

Chapter 138 138: Grow (1)

Alrock began questioning Amon almost immediately after the Governor left. However, the Solaris Lord brought everyone together, separating the youngsters from the group. Naturally, Vekka returned to Alverton to meet with the other resistance members. Johann did the same, but his goal was to call the Amaris family to do their investigation, as the Foolish Lich was a former member of his House.

Hence, only those from Alrock's inner circle are now gathered. The only exception was Ellahan, who was busy healing Carmen from the immense battle she suffered against Malachi.

Carmen rested on a nearby tree stump with Ellahan by her side. Meanwhile, Horus, who had passed out, was now wide awake and biting the bottom of his lip. He was frustrated that he'd lost against an Apostle, and more importantly, he couldn't live with the fact that he'd let Amon and Leon fall into danger.

He was meant to be their custodian, but in the end, Amon protected him.

The only ones who were not taken aback were Yue and Leon. Yue knew the full extent of Amon's capabilities and wasn't worried, even when Malachi showed up. After all, if Amon would fall into the slightest bit of danger, she would intervene in a heartbeat.

By joining forces, they might not be able to defeat the Prophet, but they could certainly pull off a daring escape. Yue's magic extended far beyond summoning Spirits—she was a master of spacetime, making her teleportation abilities virtually limitless.

As for Leon, he was fully torn on what had just transpired. On the one hand, he was impressed and in awe of Amon's abilities and knew full well that Amon had been hiding his claws. But for the gap to be that wide between them, even the talented Leon was dismayed.

Fortunately, the truth of Amon's abilities will clear his mind.

"You two know the future?"

Alrock raised his brows while repeating what Amon had just said.

"That's right," Amon glanced back at Yue, who only nodded in agreement.

Over the past few years, the pair had concocted stories to explain their foresight and immense talents. And sure enough, they had devised a few excuses to play.

"Yue has inherited much of the Elune genes, and the terror of the Demon Cult came to her in a dream." Amon's tone became low and baritone as he continued his story.

"She saw a future where the Demon Cult takes over Hyades, enslaving humanity and wiping up ninety percent of all life on the planet. Summoning millions of Demons from Hell, they triggered the Second Great Demon War. Everything was destroyed: the Holy Church, the Hyades Republic, even the Solaris House… nothing remained after the Demon Cult invaded."

"..."

Alrock frowned and stroked his beard. While he couldn't believe most of the young boy's words for now, it did make sense. If Yue had visions of the future, it made sense why she chose Amon and forced him to go on so many elopements.

Also, many of Alrock's former doubts could be answered if the pair knew of the future.

"In that future, did I perish against the Demon invasion?"

"..."

Amon didn't answer, but his silence spoke volumes. Amon's grim face was contagious, and in no time, everyone gathered felt their faces turn cold. They had just witnessed Alrock's greatness. How he destroyed mountains with a swing of his blade and changed the area's topography with just his presence.

Yet, this Demigod was no match for the Demon Cult?

"I see… how unfortunate."

Alrock snorted, not overly surprised by the revelation. Legends of the Great Demon War still rang in his ears. High-ranking Demons that had become aristocrats were enough to challenge the world's strongest humans, let alone those who stood at the apex of the Demon Realm.

Only after the Holy Church, the Goddess Hyades, the Solaris Saint, and the rest of humanity combined their efforts did they defeat the Demon invasion and bring peace to the world.

Also, if the Demon invasion were imminent, it would explain why the Hero was born in this generation.

"But if Yue is the one with the future sight, how did you become so powerful?"

It was a fair question. If Yue was the one with the future sight and Amon didn't have a speck of it, how on earth did he grow to be this strong? Condensing Six Suns before twenty was ludicrous, and that's ignoring the Lunar mana he'd displayed when fighting Malachi.

Forget talented; Amon's ability was practically in the realm of the gods.

There had never been a stronger twenty-year-old in history, and Alrock was confident that neither the Solaris Founder nor the Solaris Saint managed to achieve this much before twenty. If this trajectory continued, Amon would become the most powerful human in history.

"... I was born with an innate affinity with Lunar mana."

Knowing there was no point hiding it anymore, Amon revealed his cards.

"When I was young, I had trouble developing Solar mana. It was because my body was in a state of disharmony. Lunar mana reigned supreme while my body was that of a Solaris. Being an Elune capable of reading the future, Yue was familiar with Lunar mana. That's why she sought me out, a vessel with the most Lunar mana in human history."

Amon continued to explain himself by making Yue the scapegoat. Of course, the girl herself wasn't concerned about that. She was the one who orchestrated the whole story in the first place.

"She fixed my Lunar mana issue, and from then on, we trained tirelessly while searching for traces of the Demon Cult."

"Hoh? So your constant eloping wasn't a fit of youthful vigour?"

Alrock's sudden question made Amon's lip twitch. Since they had already come clean, there was no point in hiding the actual state of their relationship anymore. Though, Yue wouldn't allow that to happen.

"No, Grandpa Alrock! We have plenty of fun, even while training!"

"... I'm glad to see that you're still able to enjoy your youth."

That brief moment of respite gave Amon the time needed to gather himself once more and continue his story:

"From then on, we've been slowly gathering our strength in preparation for a time when the Demon Cult strikes. However, we didn't expect them to be here. We just wished to defeat the Lich hidden inside the mountain."

Amon finally told one truth in the multitude of lies. Their initial goal was to corner the Foolish Lich, and they ultimately didn't expect the Demon Cult to show up. And they especially didn't expect for three Apostles and the Prophet himself to make an appearance.

"If that's the case, then the man I just saw… Was he the leader of the Demon Cult?"

"Yes, his name is the Prophet."

Amon began explaining the inner workings of the Demon Cult without a single pause.

"On the top of the organisation is the Prophet. He's the right-hand man of the Demon King, who aims to invade Hyades. Under him are the Apostles. They each preach one Demonic Gospel, and in the future, they will be the ones who corrupt humanity the most."

The allure of greater, undeserving power was always a weakness of humans.

In the future, thousands of people will turn to the Demon Cult for guidance. And it wasn't just those who were forsaken by society. Politicians, Knights, Magicians… and even Bishops were all tempted by the Demon Cult's magnetic allure.

"Beneath the Apostles would be the Greater Demons and trusted Demonic Humans. Their influence and power is still weak, but in a few years, they would become virtually unstoppable."

The notion of a powerhouse Demonic organisation festering under his very nose all this time sent shivers down Alrock's spine. He could have never guessed that the Demon Cult had gathered that much influence without getting suspected even once.

No, he read reports of increased Demonic activity, but Alrock had always considered it a one-off thing. As it turned out, the reality was harsher than he'd thought.

"So, you've been hunting the Demon Cult all alone?"

"There were limits to what we could do…"

"Still, it doesn't explain how you became so powerful."

Alrock may be old, but he was still as sharp as ever. From the beginning, he was puzzled about how Amon could become such a powerhouse at a young age. Even with Yue guiding his path, he could not condense Six Suns when filled with Lunar mana.

Fortunately, they had an explanation for that, too.

"Well, we did have some help…"

Amon shifted his eyes to Yue, who could only sigh in resignation. Waving her hand, she reached into her dimensional pocket and pulled out a golden crystal before shattering it. A tsunami of majestic golden light flooded the area, and a silhouette of a young woman emerged from the shadows of spacetime.

She stood at the edge of reality, a vision of celestial majesty. Her form shimmered like molten gold cast into divine perfection. Her skin, smooth as polished metal, caught the light and refracted it in mesmerising patterns as though the sun bowed to her radiance.

Her eyes were pools of molten amber, shifting like liquid fire, deep and endless with wisdom beyond mortal comprehension. Twin horns, elegantly curved and adorned with delicate filigree, rose from her crown, framing cascades of flowing hair that shimmered with hues of gold, bronze, and the faintest traces of celestial stardust.

From her back, unfurled wings vast and resplendent, their membranes sheer like woven sunlight, each beat sending waves of shimmering radiance across the space around her. The air seemed to tremble when she moved, carrying whispers of a forgotten, ancient power.

Alrock froze after watching the young woman morph into something. Something in his bloodline tingled, and he instinctively knew what kind of existence that woman was.

A Sovereign—nay, a God.

An existence that could eradicate him with a thought if she so chose.

But she chose not to. Tilting her head adorably, she positioned her amber eyes towards Amon and Yue as if confused as to why she was summoned to this remote area.

"Grandpa Alrock, meet Yval. The Last Dragon."
