Chapter 174: [My name is Nadia!]
"So. What business do you have here?"
Even though a few minutes have passed since I asked that question, not a single word escaped from the two half-vampires' mouths. Both of them stayed at the same position where they were, standing there and observing me as I slowly finished my ice cream.
And once I was done with that, I looked at them again, this time with a sigh as I asked,
"Alright. Let me rephrase the question. Tell me, what exactly were you planning to do with Elliot and Kite?"
I didn't want any unnecessary bloodshed. Not because I was magnanimous or anything but simply because I didn't want to spoil this calm evening. If we can achieve a proper conclusion where nobody would need to break another one's neck then I would gladly take the path.
"We…" The thread-using girl, Nadia, began speaking first. Her eyes were fixated on Velma, with a slight fright, as if she were afraid that Velma would do something that would end up getting both of them killed. Though they wouldn't need to worry about that… there was little either of them could do to irk me out.
"We were here to take that girl to our majesty. By injesting his immortal blood, she would be able to bring out her true potential. And if… not done, then slowly her own blood will begin eating her flesh, killing her before she turns 20," Nadia chose her words carefully.
Whether it was a lie or a truth, it was something that I couldn't exactly confirm, but honestly, I don't need to. All I needed to do here was to bring out a solution that would be acceptable to all.
"Is that so? Well, then you don't need to worry about it. I can fix that problem easily," I gave out a smile as I looked at the confused Half-Vampire. To be honest, I knew about the curse thingy, and I was planning to help Elliot after the tutorial began. Doing it right now would be purposeless since I can make her owe me more if I were to give it out as a [Gift] to her.
-Whoosh!
Velma ran towards me with all her might. Seems like she was more impatient than I thought.
'Oh well. I was getting bored too,' I mumbled before slowly dodging her first punch, which was worse than a kid's. Seems like charm magic was all that she had to offer here.
Her punches, though rather unskillful, were coming at a faster rate with each passing second. Her stats must be pretty high given each of those strikes were creating waves around us. But then again, given how childish they seem, I could have probably dodged it even when I was a normal human.
-Bam!
"Calm down, will you? All I am doing is talking here. No need to get so fiesty over something like that," I spoke as I caught one of her punches while using [Kinetic Mastery!] to cut off her momentum, significantly reducing the force behind that punch.
She probably would have felt that 'lack of impact' as her eyes widened for a few seconds before trying again.
-Bam!
-Bam!
-Bam!
She tried a few more times, but I just caught it all with a smile on my face before asking," are you really going to keep on with this?"
"What… are you?" She asked, her eyes failing to understand what she was witnessing.
"A traveler from another dimension… is the closest answer I can give," I answered honestly. There was no point in lying here… and even if I were to kill them, it would not benefit me anyways. In some way, letting them live might be more entertaining… probably…
"Traveler?" Nahida asked with her eyes turning curious as she continued," a higher race?"
Hmmm. She seemed to be misunderstanding something.
"Maybe? I was a human at the start but then stuff happened… " I tried putting the right words in, but then stopped halfway. I wasn't going to tell an entire story here but was there anyway to sum up all that I had been through?
"Stuff?" Nadia was… well, I kind of liked her attitude regarding all this. She was curious, asked the right question, and most importantly, she seemed to be trying to understand everything before jumping to concussion.
Unlike others who had, ummm, how should I say this, "normal" reaction, she seemed to be far more capable in that regard. At least when it is concerned with sudden changes that might go against one's common sense.
"What's your name, half Vampire?" I asked. Even though I knew her name from the duo's interaction, I decided to start fresh from her. Perhaps, I may gain something worthwhile here?
"It's Nadia Ire Reina," she answered.
"Nice name. What does it mean?" I questioned curiously, to which she pondered before answering,
"The river that never stops flowing."
"Cool. Okay Nadia. Would you like to go on a walk with us? Since you have been pretty polite with me, I'll answer any question you have," I spoke honestly. If I wanted to bring her on my side, I think we can start by being more or less truthful with each other.
Plus I was also a bit curious about Vampires, and this Vampire lord or somebody, so might also ask about it while I am at that.
"Nad-ummph!" Velma was trying to speak something but threads covered her mouth before Nadia continued,
"Sure. Though can you give me a moment to send her back?"
Her words made me curious before I nodded with anticipation. Though…
-Splash!
The threads surrounding her, turned her into a mushy meat which splattered on the floor before slowly evaporating in the air.
"All Half-Vampires are immortal due to our Majesty's blood. By tomorrow she will be breathing anew back into the main castle," she said, clearing the doubts of those who were surrounding us. And then turning to me she continued as if nothing happened,
"So will it be all right if I ask my first question?"
What do you think?
