The Gentleman at the End

Chapter 99 - 98 The Real Villagers

Chapter 99: Chapter 98 The Real Villagers

Although the gentleman’s clothes were highly sweat-absorbent,

they could not stop the sweat from constantly seeping out from Yi Chen’s forehead, each droplet carrying the scent of hormones.

The rising body temperature and the emergence of primitive desires quickly made Yi Chen realize that the spores permeating the air could slowly penetrate the clothes and the plant defenses, subtly influencing the body.

Perhaps it was the Grey Zone that enhanced the spores’ ability to infiltrate.

The hands the two held were continuously wet with sweat, even dripping down between the fingers… slippery and sticky.

This sensation was like a sweltering country cottage, where a man and a woman were squeezed into a stuffy bedroom when a power outage occurred.

As they walked along the village roads, they drew closer to each other until they stopped in their tracks and turned to face each other.

Even separated by masks, they could still hear each other’s increasingly rapid breathing,

the Siamese deer stuck to the side of the road,

the bat with a goat’s head sitting on the lawn,

and a giant pig mother in the midst of giving birth all watched the pair,

even feeling them writhe, their flesh and hair continuously whispering, carried clearly to their ears by the airborne spores.

“Combine with us, join us,”

The only one unaffected here was the little grape,

but it did not stop what was happening before its eyes, as it didn’t see it as harmful.

Moreover, it was quite eager to see the marvelous scene of the two humans it found interesting combining.

At that moment, Yi Chen stretched out his sweaty palm and gently placed it on Jin’s neck, slowly sliding up her smooth skin, trying to press against her cheek to remove her mask.

The mask slowly slid up under the push of his palm,

revealing lips already moist, just as he was about to get a glimpse of Jin’s entire face.

Snap!

A superfast slap struck the side of Yi Chen’s face, even causing a small explosion at the point of contact.

The slap sent him flying and crashing in front of a wooden house, crushing dozens of disgusting mushrooms releasing spores.

The intense ringing in his ears, the sting on his cheek, and the dizziness in his head snapped Yi Chen back to reality.

His entire right face had been blown open, exposing all his teeth and gums, with flesh hanging off the side of his face.

“Wow! That’s refreshing!”

Yi Chen himself felt as if he had poured a bottle of cologne straight into his mouth, cooling and explosive.

He pressed his palm to the wound on his cheek,

extruding fresh green plant roots to stop the bleeding, suture, and heal.

At the same time, Yi Chen looked up at Jin, who stood on the road.

She showed no killing intent, merely moving her mask back in place… just silently watching Yi Chen, who had been sent flying, without speaking for a long while.

One thing was certain,

both had been affected, awakening the deep-seated desires of living organisms. If they hadn’t attempted to remove their masks, they might have truly experienced ‘deep contact.’

Yi Chen was the first to speak, breaking the awkward silence.

“It seems the environment here can stimulate the ‘combination’ desire of living beings. Once such an act is initiated, it might lead to a real combination in the process, even genetic matching.”

“Hmm…”

Jin simply acknowledged with a sound, then walked over to Yi Chen and pulled him to his feet.

“Jin, let’s slightly modify our ‘contact-based investigation,'”

Whoosh! Roots grew out from Yi Chen’s palm, slowly wrapping around Jin’s wrist.

Connecting their wrists with the plants, forming a bracelet to maintain contact.

The length could stretch up to ten meters, with robust tensile strength… should an external force act, the roots would quickly contract, avoiding the risk of being separated.

“What a troublesome Grey Zone type,” Jin’s speech had noticeably diminished.

As they slowly pulled away from the web of desires, their awareness of the environment began to return.

A series of bizarre squishing noises of flesh could be heard.

The sound was coming from the village houses behind them.

Yi Chen also noticed a stone sculpture the size of a palm by the door: “A sculpture of a woman embracing a child with the umbilical cord still attached, neither the child nor the woman had facial features carved.”

Yi Chen turned his gaze to the other nearby houses, each with the same sculptures at the entrance, surely related to the Church.

“Jin, let’s go in and take a look,”

Yi Chen said as he pushed open the door–which was not locked.

The two adopted a cross-entry tactic, simultaneously entering the villager’s wooden hut.

The scene inside was shocking, surpassing the sights of the streets.

The small and confined cabin, with all its usable space occupied, had even its floor covered with a soft, sticky substance between oil and skin layers.

The wooden structure of the room was filled with fungi of various sizes, even sprouting branches and vines, blossoming with radiant flowers among the beams.

It was like bursting into a nutrient-rich plant greenhouse, which on some level was quite pleasing to the eye.

However, this initial beauty inside the cabin did not last long.

Following the source of the fleshy sounds, the two stepped on the slippery floor as they moved further into the hut. @@novelbin@@

Together, they leaned against the bedroom door, peering inside.

A pile of grotesque rotting flesh was stacked on the completely collapsed bed, occupying two-thirds of the bedroom.

One could barely make out the facial outlines of a man and a woman within this mound of flesh,

Beyond that, it also contained three wild dogs, two cats, structures like sheep horns, a boar’s snout, and more…

The rotting flesh, stimulated by spores and dust, kept writhing, the slapping and squeezing of flesh created the ‘fleshy sounds’ Yi Chen had heard, filling the room with an odd smell.

Clearly, the giant rotting flesh was undergoing some kind of intense life activity.

About a minute passed.

Pfft!

A large amount of flesh-colored liquid was expelled from the rot, with this liquid covering the ground and causing the stickiness and slipperiness inside the cabin… Moreover, among these expelled fluids, a grotesque infant connected by an umbilical cord slipped out.

Fertility completed.

The grotesque infant continued to receive nourishment from the mother through the umbilical cord, growing to resemble a teenager within minutes.

“…Is this the source of the accelerated birth-type Patients?”

“Such fast fertility rates~ No wonder there are so many ‘villagers.’ Impossible to kill them all.”

As Yi Chen and Jin expressed their attitudes towards the sickening phenomenon before them,

The mass that filled the bedroom detected their presence,

Whoosh! Several fleshy tentacles emerged from its rotting body, attempting to probe outside the door.

As soon as the tentacles reached outside the bedroom, they were severed by an axe.

The two young men appeared simultaneously at the doorway,

Just as Yi Chen was about to switch to the axe’s “Slaughter Form” to execute the pitiful Patient inside the room,

Jin stepped in front of him.

“It’s not often we come across a real villager, leave this one to me… The amount of flesh might yield something good.”

Jin took an Instant Step, directly smashing the head of the growing infant.

The death of the offspring caused the rotting flesh to tremble violently, its body vertically splitting open to reveal a large, tooth-filled maw with dozens of strong, fleshy tentacles emerging from within.

Jin, however, did not resist,

He willingly let the tentacles ensnare him and was dragged into the creature’s body.

The next second,

A terrifying sound of an electric saw mixed with pig squeals erupted from within,

And in response to the unfolding scene in the bedroom, Yi Chen chose to close his eyes.

One could imagine it akin to a chef in a restaurant preparing a massive serving of pineapple rice,

Choosing the largest pineapple and opting for a more violent approach, inserting a meat grinder from the bottom of the pineapple to smash all the pulp from within.

Afterward, slicing the emptied pineapple shell in half to use as a bowl for the rice.

Jin, having finished the task, walked out of the room with a look of disappointment on his face,

“These Patients, mutated together, unable to move and only capable of giving birth, every offspring they produce takes part of their essence with them.

The meat quality is poor, even worse than low-grade synthetic flesh, a complete waste of my time.

But, you might find this useful, right?”

With a gentle toss from Jin’s other hand, two warm chunks of brain landed firmly in Yi Chen’s hands.
