Chapter 585: 229 detained an ancestor_3
Bai Lian?
Old Mrs. Xu’s intuition told her this matter was no trivial issue, “My granddaughter’s friend.”
“Yes,” the police officer nodded, letting slip a little information to the relative involved. “Your granddaughter is not directly related to the incident. It was Bai Lian who did the hitting. She struck that Young Master Yu, and besides him, over ten other people in the private room were also beaten by her. This matter won’t be easy to resolve.”
That Young Master Yu aside.
The gathering he had arranged included people from families that all had some degree of power and influence.
One person would be trouble enough, but there were more than ten of them involved.
Old Mrs. Xu felt darkness descend before her eyes.
The Xu butler quickly steadied her, “Old Mrs. Xu!”
In the hospital room, Xu Zhiyue blinked her eyes. She looked at the cellphone placed beside her and, holding her forehead, she got up and dialed Xu En’s number.

Upstairs.
“Grandma, look,” Yu Hongjing pointed at the injury on his head that had been stitched up with a dozen or so stitches and grimaced painfully, “You and sister must seek justice for me.”
In front of outsiders, he reigned with authority, but in front of the two very capable women of his family, he knew very well how to curry favor.
He had specifically asked the doctor not to wrap a bandage around it so that his grandmother could see it, and the doctor did not dare object.
Grandma Yu saw the ghastly scar at a glance.
Ever since Yu Hongyi gained power, those eagerly fawning over the Yu Family were numerous, including many from the Chen Family.
They had moved to the edge of Yunxiao District, where who would dare to provoke anyone with eyes?@@novelbin@@
“How could you let this happen to the Young Master?” she scanned the bodyguards in the room with a fierce glare; the bodyguards all hung their heads, not daring to utter a word, “Who was the perpetrator?”
“Bai Lian, Xu En’s stepdaughter,” a bodyguard recounted the entire incident from start to finish, including the matter related to Xu Zhiyue, “You really have the nerve. She is Xu En’s daughter; you’re surely aware of how things have been going for the Xu Family this past year, right?”
As Yu Hongjing mentioned Bai Lian, his brows were deeply furrowed in gloom, “Grandma, that stepdaughter…”
“I know.” Grandma Yu always turned a blind eye to her grandson’s escapades.
This time the commotion had been rather large. While Yu Hongjing could be dealt with behind closed doors, being blatantly assaulted like this was another matter altogether.
Outside, a female bodyguard handed over a report to Grandma Yu.
Grandma Yu looked down; it was Xu Zhiyue’s medical report.
It revealed traces of hallucinogenic substances.
She slowly crumpled the report into a ball and casually threw it into the trash bin, “Issue a new report.”
Then she took the cellphone from the female bodyguard’s hand, “Hello, Captain Chen…”

At the police station.
When Xu En arrived, Bai Lian was still in the detention room.
Xu En had already learned about the case en route. A fight occurred, and though he didn’t know the details, he was somewhat aware it involved Xu Zhiyue.
Regardless, he intended to get her bailed out first.
“You’re talking about Bai Lian?” Hearing Bai Lian’s name, Officer Sun looked at Xu En, “Mr. Xu, it might not be easy to bail her out.”
“Why?” Xu En got to his feet, his expression changing.
Officer Sun quite liked Bai Lian and spoke in a hushed tone, “This incident involves over a dozen families—the Yu Family, Zheng Family, Wang Family… They have all contacted Chief Zhang on her behalf, and most importantly, Captain Chen just called as well.”
In Jiangjing, upon hearing “Chen”, one inevitably thought of the Chen Family.
“Captain Chen?” Xu En knew that Yu Hongyi was well integrated into the Chen Family; his knowledge of the Chen Family was limited to Chief Chen.
Who was this Captain Chen?
“He communicated directly with our director,” Officer Sun, a low-ranking officer, could not say much, “They’re old comrades-in-arms. You should be prepared; she’s likely to have a criminal record.”
As she spoke, Officer Sun couldn’t help feeling helpless. So, this young woman had connections too, no wonder she dared to strike directly, but…
She really was quite the “hot-headed” one. In such a large place as Jiangjing, there’s always someone better; her backers were clearly not as solid as those of others.
By offending so many people at once, one of whom had such significant clout.
Xu En had come with a lawyer, initially believing they could first bring Bai Lian home.
He didn’t expect not only would he fail to take her back, but he didn’t even get to see Bai Lian.
At the hospital, Xu En had also arrived, lit a cigarette, and stood still, his gaze deep and ponderous.
“The Yu Family… She really has some nerve,” said Old Mrs. Xu as she tapped her cane, calling Xu En from the hospital, “You’re still thinking about bail when you should be pondering how to appease the Yu Family? They didn’t even let me enter the hospital ward.”
Ji Mulan stood beside Xu En, overhearing the conversation, and felt a twinge in her abdomen.
“This Yu Family…” Ji Mulan turned her head to ask Xu’s assistant, her heart beginning to worry.
Recently, Old Mrs. Xu had always been very fond of Bai Lian, treating her exceedingly well, as she did to Ji Mulan too. This was the first time that Old Mrs. Xu had mentioned Bai Lian in such a displeased tone.
What do you think?
