Chapter 663: The King of 263 Warriors, It Seems Like an Old Friend Returns! (Second Update)_1
Ye Jingxian did not immediately react.
Dean Huang, accustomed to such occurrences, gently reminded the girl in front of him, “Isn’t it almost time?”
Right, it was almost time!
Facing that cold gaze, Ye Jingxian steeled herself and took the white paper bag from Jiang Fulai’s hand, not forgetting her manners as she bowed to Dean Huang, “Dean Huang, goodbye.”
She took the paper bag and went backstage.
It was only then that Dean Huang turned around, looking at Jiang Fulai, “Mr. Jiang, shall we go to the front?”
...
Jiang Fulai’s gaze lingered on the curtain at the back for a long while before lazily following Dean Huang toward the auditorium.
At this point, the student council members outside the auditorium had already closed the doors, no longer letting spectators in. The Financial College had over-promoted the event, and with Bai Lian naturally attracting a large following at Jiang University, the auditorium was packed early on.
After Dean Huang entered, the doors were shut completely, yet outside, there were still many people holding up their cell phones to record.
The main lights had been turned off, leaving only the ambient lights on the stage. Only two seats in the middle of the first row were vacant.
Dean Feng had been sitting in his place early on, and when he looked up and saw Dean Huang come in through the door with a tall man following him, he quickly got up to greet them.
“Dean Huang,” he greeted Dean Huang in a low voice, his eyes then shifting to Jiang Fulai, “Mr. Jiang.”
Jiang Xijue, a financial prodigy from Jiang University’s Financial College and the Executive President of Zhongxing.
But everyone knew who was behind Jiang Xijue.
It was this student whom Dean Feng relied on to sit in the position of Chairman of the Federation of Industry and Commerce.
“Dean Feng,” Jiang Fulai nodded to him lazily, sitting down in the empty seat beside Dean Feng, leaning elegantly against the chair back, his fine features slightly composed, exuding a sense of aloof indifference.
He didn’t speak to anyone.
Dean Huang sat on the other side of Jiang Fulai.
Dean Feng only sat down slowly after the two of them had taken their seats; it was clear that he didn’t fully sit back, showing his restraint.
The noise of conversation in the front two rows quieted down around him, and the volume of talking decreased significantly.
The students in the row behind, who had witnessed this scene, all took notice: given Dean Feng’s current status in the Financial College, getting up to greet the guests and the presence of two deans seated next to him, just who was this person?
With the front row lights off, one could only see the back of the person in the middle, which seemed particularly somber under the lighting.
**
Backstage.
The makeup artist was not that professional, but Bai Lian’s complexion was fair enough; she only added some shadows and applied some lipstick to Bai Lian.
“This face, I dare not add anything more to it,” the makeup artist remarked as she looked at Bai Lian’s face, sighing.
Ye Jingxian took out the clothes from the bag.
They were not as lavish as Ye Jingxian had imagined, but simple white silk garments. Without much time to ponder, she passed the clothes to Bai Lian, “Junior, let’s change first.”
The two hosts were already waiting behind the curtains, ready to go on stage to announce.
In the changing room, Bai Lian lowered her eyes to spread out the white gown, putting on not only the outer robe but also the practice pants underneath, before picking up the white sash and loosely tying it around her waist.
Outside.
Ye Jingxian was waiting for Bai Lian to change. She was still not entirely at ease when her phone rang with a call from Ba Shiming.
“Today, both deans are present, and there’s a distinguished guest,” Ba Shiming said seriously over the phone, “It’s strange that they all came. The Financial College is responsible for the conclusion. We won’t have any issues, right?”
A distinguished guest?
Ye Jingxian naturally thought of the person she had just met, “President, rest assured, the junior won’t have any issues.”
She reassured Ba Shiming.
After hanging up, she continued to wait for Bai Lian to come out.
“Where is the prop, the long spear?” Ye Jingxian remembered this and Kong Wei hurriedly brought over the spear.
Bai Lian came out of the changing room.
She was wearing a simple white gown, bound at the waist by a white silk ribbon, her demeanor casually nonchalant.
Ye Jingxian handed the long spear in her hand to Bai Lian, “Junior, try this spear.”
This was the prop Ye Jingxian had prepared for Bai Lian; it had arrived last week, and she had wanted Bai Lian to practice with it during the rehearsal, but the rehearsal hadn’t happened due to sound equipment issues.
Some of the student council members nearby overheard Ye Jingxian and exchanged glances.
Bai Lian hadn’t even practiced with the spear?
Would that be alright?
As these people were pondering, Bai Lian stretched out her hand to take the Red-Tasseled Spear, placing it upright on the ground; the spear was even taller than herself.
The red tassel at the tip of the spear slowly fell with her movements, and the silver spearhead gleamed coldly.
Everyone around noticed that the moment she took the spear, the atmosphere around her changed. She became like a lazy white tiger sunning on a rock that suddenly senses an intruder, inspecting her territory with majestic dignity.
What do you think?
