Chapter 432: War Of Sweden City (1).
It was finally the day of the Blood Moon, and the Sweden city guards preparing to fight in the war were already outside the city gates.
They were filled with anxiety at the thought that they may never see their loved ones again, knowing the history of how their previous armies sent to face the second Dimension race were nearly wiped out during the previous five Blood Moon wars.
Despite this, they had accepted their fates as the new group of individuals sacrificing their lives for the survival of their city and its people.
Alec and the mages of the War God Mage Academy quickly made their way to the gates, knowing that the long wooden bridge they needed to cross after leaving the city gates would soon be closed, so they hastened their steps, eager to ensure they could participate in the upcoming battle,.
The city guards who remained within the city gazed at the War God Mage students clad in armor of various colours.
They did not appear to be a well-coordinated army; instead, they resembled a group of youngsters on the brink of risking their lives recklessly, but still yet they still saluted to them.
Alec was the one who had instructed them to procure both armor and weapons if they did not already possess them, emphasizing that it was crucial for their survival.
He had also met with each mage that had lead a team on mission to ensure the profits made were shared equally among all team members, giving them the means to acquire the necessary gear they needed.
Those lacking funds were offered loans, as Alec was willing to exchange power stones as long as they paid with interest upon repayment.
With his three thousand mages squad now fully equipped, they emerged from the city, as they Sweden city guards still in the city activated the mechanism to raise the bridge, hindering the creatures from the second Dimension from having an easier crossing.
Approaching the city guard leader, a Peak Tier 4 mage, Alec shook hands with him and exchanged pleasantries before taking his place among them his army of first year student mages.
"Have you calculated their numbers?" Alec asked upon returning to his team.
"About seven thousand of them are here, and nearly half of them are Tier 1 mages," Agnes stated.
" and It’s a fuck up situation, as they would require more higher Tier powers if they want to survive, However, it seems they are prepared to allow us compensate for this weakness of theirs."
"That means, along with our team squad, we have around ten thousand able-bodied mages ready to fight, Let’s see what we’re up against and whether we can survive in one piece," Alec declared, surrounded by his commanders on horseback.
Pale grumbled as he realized he now fell under Alec’s command as one of his commanders, since his release from the ice prison, he had been unusually quiet.
Despite mocking Alec and previously seeking to him to join his team, Pale now found himself under Alec’s leadership.
Fortunately, Alec did not seek revenge for Pale’s past actions as they awaited the arrival of night.
--
As the night sky darkens, a sense of foreboding fills the air, and a hush falls over the land.
Suddenly, a deep red glow appears on the horizon, signalling the arrival of the Blood Moon.
Its eerie light casts a crimson hue over the landscape, turning everything it touches into shades of dark red and black.
The city guard and the mages from the War god mage academy were already gathered and positioned on the battlefield, as they feel the restriction of the Blood Moon wash over them.
The moon’s light seems to dance and flicker, as if alive with a malevolent energy, reflecting the impending conflict and bloodshed that lies ahead.
As the mages prepare for the huge space gate that was opening , the Blood Moon rises higher in the sky, its red light intensifying and illuminating the scene in a macabre and haunting glow.
It serves as a grim reminder of the stakes at hand, and the mages steel themselves for the upcoming war, as the space gate got wider and wider until the first lifeforms to pass through it finally came out
Alec squinted in disbelief, trying to comprehend the surreal scene unfolding before him.
A skeletal figure, clad in tattered robes, stepped forward holding a staff, its eye sockets emitting an eerie glow as it pointed its bony fingers towards the human army,
"Beneath this tattered shroud lies the essence of a thousand curses, the wrath of ages past, and an unyielding thirst for vengeance. Tremble, mortals, for you face not death, but a force far darker and more insidious. I am the lich, and this battlefield shall be your tomb."
With a resounding thud, the lich slammed its staff on the ground, as a horde of undead skeletons rush out from the space gate charging towards the human army.
"Prepare the formation," commanded the leader of the city guards, as his warriors raised their round shields and gripped their short axes.
"Charge!" he thundered few seconds later, rallying his seven thousand-strong force to meet the skeleton army head-on.
Alec, taken aback by the sudden boldness, watched in astonishment as the Swedish city guards plunged forward, abandoning their defensive strategy in a matter of seconds.
Realizing the impulsive nature of the guards, Alec couldn’t help but think,
"What was I expecting?, They’re dressed as Vikings, after all." Face palming, he muttered,
"What a bunch of savage!" Pale’s mentioned
"Nevertheless, they are still formidable," Alec remarked, observing the strength and prowess of each Sweden city guard as they effortlessly handled the approaching skeletons soldiers.
"Facing the same enemy for so long may have its effects, however, I am perplexed by their repeated defeats," Lucas stated, his hands crossed in contemplation.
Alec, was strategically holding back the members of the War God Mage Academy, as he believed that conserving their energies now would be crucial for the more formidable undead adversaries wave that lay ahead.
He was confident that the lich commanded more than just skeleton soldiers, leading him to anticipate more dangerous threats.
His thoughts were interrupted by the emergence of another group of undead creatures coming out from the space gate.
As a massive, imposing figure led the pack, showcasing razor-sharp claws and intimidating jaws looked capable of crushing bones effortlessly, as the creature and its minions advanced,
As the towering figure emerged from the gate, it fixed its gaze on the lich, offering a slight bow before leading its ghoul legion forward.
"Ghouls!" Lucas exclaimed, his expression darkening as he recalled their past encounters with just a couple of Tier 3 Ghouls, and now faced with a Tier 4 ghoul, the ominous aura it exuded added an extra layer of dread.
Behind the Tier 4 Ghoul, there were over twenty Tier 3 Ghouls and hundreds of Tier 2 Ghouls, with the countless Tier 1 Ghouls trailing behind in the thousand.
Lucas shuddered at the sheer magnitude of the approaching wave, realizing just why the city always lost as it was an overwhelming challenge.
What do you think?
