The Golem Mage

Chapter 477 477: Cyborg.

[> The Origin Spear – Thrust <]

As soon as those words escaped Legion's lips, the laser spear in his hand gleamed intensely, as if fueled by his declaration, with unwavering determination, he thrust the spear through the water shield conjured by the first sea demon that he encountered.

The sea demon's visage froze in disbelief, unable to comprehend how effortlessly the spear blade had pierced through the defense spell that had once been his source of immense pride, as the spear plunged deeply into his chest, leaving him paralyzed with shock.

Surveying the aftermath, the sea demon commander stared down at his chest, the scorching laser energy having disintegrated through his chest armor into his heart with astonishing ease.

With a resonant thud, Legion firmly planted a kick on the sea demon's body, propelling him backward, the sound reverberated through the air, serving as a cacophonous awakening for the remaining nine sea demon commanders.

In that moment, they finally recognized that Legion was not an opponent to be underestimated, despite his lower realm level to them.

Though they harboured no desire to become a cautionary tale like their fallen comrade, the sea demon commanders did not succumb to fear, after all, the odds still overwhelmingly favoured them: 9 against 1.

In their own minds, they attributed the swift demise of the fallen sea demon commander to his underestimation of Legion, fueled by a thirst for revenge, they dashed forward.

However, as they closed in, the shoulder pad of Legion's armor unfurled, revealing an array of mounted missiles, unfortunately, none of the sea demons knew the danger they possessed as they continued their relentless advance towards Legion, who is positioned just right In front of them.

"Sights locked. Ready... Fire!" Legion commanded, and in an instant, a thunderous explosion erupted, the seamless transition from the sea demon commanders offensive charge to a hasty defensive retreat shattered any false confidence they had mustered.

And those sea demon commanders who had been late in creating a defensive cover or casting a protective spell now bore critical injuries as a result.

Legion stood resolute, holding his laser spear in his right hand and a shield in his left, and despite being outnumbered, fear eluded him, he was solely focused on achieving the desired outcome, even willing to go as far as sacrificing parts of his cyborg body if necessary.

While Butcher boasted incredible speed and Titan possessed unmatched strength, Legion, was the golem which was now renowned for possessing the most formidable firepower among all of Alec's golems..

"Heads up!" Legion warned, deftly manipulating the laser spear and the round and hefty shield. In the blink of an eye, he had transformed them into a fully assembled grenade launcher, tightly gripped in both hands.

This launcher, powered by a core of crystalline energy, emanated an aura of impending devastation, poised to unleash a laser bomb upon the remaining nine sea demon commanders.

Confusion clouded the sea demon commanders' expressions as they pondered whether to advance toward Legion or retreat, after witnessing first hand the destructive capabilities of Legion's peculiar and unconventional weapons, they were at a loss of what to do.

"Prevent him from attacking!" bellowed the leading sea demon commander, charging towards Legion, confident that his actions would rally the remaining eight behind him.

With an unwavering gaze fixed upon the sea demon commanders, Legion took aim.

As the launcher hummed with power in his hands, the surrounding air crackled with magical electricity.

He let out a deep breath, a moment of stillness, and then, with precise determination, Legion pulled the trigger, as a concentrated beam of intense light, vibrant and searing, burst forth, encapsulating within it a pulsating orb of undeniable destruction.

The projectile tore through the air, its passage accompanied by a sound that seemed to rend reality itself, leaving behind a trail of shimmering ionized particles reminiscent of stardust.

Upon impact, the laser bomb shell detonated in a blinding explosion of radiant energy, the sea demon commanders engulfed in the blast were instantly subjected to a catastrophic onslaught, facing their inevitable demise.

Their armoured hides which were once impenetrable, were mercilessly rent asunder by the laser bomb's formidable energy, akin to the precision of a sculptor's chisel.

Scales became deadly shrapnel, and the water elements they manipulated in their attempt to form a joint huge water shield seethed and boiled under the searing heat, as their incomplete combination spell was unable to withstand Legion's swift assault.

As smoke billowed from the still-smouldering grenade launcher in his hand, Legion raised it close to his mouth and blew away the remnants with a mechanical breath.

"Bulls eye!" Legion declared, only to be met with a pained grunt.

Legion closed one eye and tilted his head to the side, observing that most of the sea demon commanders were dead, except for one at the far back. Its legs were gone, and it was desperately trying to escape by crawling toward the water.

With a snicker, Legion attempted to shoot again.

[> Insufficient Mana remaining!]

A system message appeared before Legion, although he could fire mass destruction bullets, he couldn't do so continuously as it consumed a large portion of his mana.

"Well, if I can't kill with big fireworks, I'll just do it with smaller ones!" Legion muttered to himself as he positioned the launcher on his right shoulder and aimed his left hand at the crawling sea demon commander.

Gun muzzles emerged from his handguard, and he fired lasers at the last sea demon commander, ensuring it was dead.

"That's better!"

[> Warning, 10% energy remaining]

Receiving another warning didn't seem to faze Legion as he concentrated on absorbing mana from the air to replenish his depleted reserves, all the while keeping an eye on his master who was about to engage in combat with the Peak Tier 5 sea demon leader, as they were both levitating in the air.

Back at the academy, Selene was observed watching a water screen, which displayed the entire team that had finally completed their mission and was now waiting for Alec to regroup with them before returning to the Academy.

"So, how is our academy team of soldiers doing?" General Edwards's voice echoed as Selene was compelled to turn and see the General entering her quarters with the new Dean.

She bowed respectfully to the Dean and the General, to which the new Dean simply gestured for her to relax, finding the formality between them somewhat awkward.

"Welcome to my humble abode, Dean!" Selene greeted, and the Dean nodded in acknowledgment.

"The pleasure is all mine, i must express my gratitude for your efforts in devising the training regimen for this year's students, the instructors have become complacent, and there's a lack of interest in preparing the students for the inter-academy competition, given there's no reward attached to it," the Dean remarked.

"If it weren't for your willingness to volunteer, we would be in disarray, as this has been the case in the past," the Dean added, a smile gracing his face.

"It's my pleasure. I felt compelled to contribute one last act before I leave this academy that I've come to consider my home for so long," Selene responded.

"We appreciate it greatly, I have one more request: would you consider being the team's coordinator for the competition?" the Dean inquired, causing Selene to freeze in surprise.

"But isn't that typically a role for an instructor—"

She was mid-sentence when the Dean interjected,

"I am the Dean, and I have the authority to appoint whomever I choose, let's not overlook the fact that you are as capable as some of the instructors we have, so It would be an honour for the Academy team to be coordinated by the academy's strongest student, Please, say yes to my request," the Dean urged, and Selene found herself unable to refuse after such an appeal.

"This humble disciple accepts the task!" Selene declared, and the Dean nodded in approval as they all turned their attention to the team on the water screen, which seemed to have grown significantly after their time in the wilderness on their own.
