Chapter 434: Chapter 1 Asura Field Player (4300)
The next day, early in the morning.
After having labored all night, Luo En stretched lazily and casually tossed a finished document from the table to the pile of files behind him.
As he turned around, a breathtaking scene of a begonia in deep slumber in the corner of the temple caught his eye.
The elegant purple hair fell like a waterfall over the snowy mountain peaks, and her skin, so delicate that it could shatter with a touch, still carried traces of a fading blush. Her exquisite face, charming even in its fierceness, was furrowed in distress as though she had not endured the previous night’s battles well, and her long legs clasped tightly together, instinctively revealing a defensive posture.
A Valkyrie, undefeated in all battles?
Tsk tsk, is that so?
Looking at Athena who lay unconscious on the floor, Luo En couldn’t help but snicker and shake his head.
That’s the trouble with virgin goddesses. Even though their experience is zero, they are the loudest shouters, always thinking they are tremendously strong before the battle starts. But when they really clash with swords and spears, they quickly show their true colors.
Just like that, Athena was completely devastated overnight. She pales in comparison to the original Artemis and even to the equally-built lesser deity, Medusa, who could easily overshadow her.
At most, this all-conquering Valkyrie might compete with Stheno and Euryale, the two fledgling lady ghosts, and even then, she might not secure a victory.
How should I put it, there’s a great deal of room for improvement. She could learn a thing or two by discussing more with him.
Just as Luo En snickered to himself, a graceful figure approached the temple from outside and gently knocked on the tightly shut door.
A wisp of elegant purple hair peeped through the crack in the door, capturing someone’s attention.
Medusa?
With the identification of the visitor’s identity, a guilty Luo En jolted upright.
“Are you there? May I come in?”
As he saw those pale hands slowly pushing the door open, Luo En couldn’t afford to think further. With lightning speed, he rolled up the still-sleeping Athena from the corner, stuffed her under the office desk, pulled down the tablecloth, and cast a small barrier to cover the unseemly virgin goddess.
He himself then swiftly took a seat with perfect posture, pretending to be deeply engrossed in evaluating official documents, just before Medusa entered.
“So you are here.”
Seeing Luo En engrossed in his work within the temple, the unsuspecting Medusa exhaled softly, her furrowed brow relaxing slightly.
Noticing this subtle expression change, the completely exhausted upright deity put down his iron pen and calmly asked, “Is there something you need from me?”
Medusa nodded, her coldly beautiful face revealing a trace of embarrassment.
“Someone insists on seeing you, and we couldn’t stop her.”
“A deity?”
“Yes.”
“What’s her name?”
“Diana, she claims to be an Amazon.”
“Cough cough…”
At this, Luo En couldn’t help but cough violently, a big question mark popping up in his mind.
What’s going on? Wonder Woman knocking at my door?
He pondered, although he was quite a scoundrel, he had never crossed paths with the Queen of the Amazons, let alone any Amazonian.
Just as Luo En was utterly baffled, a silver-haired, blue-eyed huntress wearing a waist cincher and hunting boots, bow and arrows on her back, dodged Medusa’s interception with agile grace. She burst into the great temple and sported a bright, brilliant smile to the shepherd behind the desk.
“I knew you’d be here!”
Upon seeing the figure before him, Luo En’s confusion instantly cleared, and he waved his hand with a bitter smile at the wary Medusa.
“She’s my friend, no need to worry.”
Upon hearing this, the skeptical Medusa hesitantly let down her guard and obediently exited the temple at Luo En’s gesture, going back to her pressing matters.
Since the Goddess of Justice, Themis, the Goddess of the Hearth, Hestia, and the Goddess of Wisdom, Athena—all prominent figures of War God Mountain—had successively fallen into deep sleep and the Goddess Mnemosyne had been exiled back to the Temple of Memory on Mount Helicon by the new laws of Fate, Medusa, an old resident of War God Mountain, had no choice but to learn to stand on her own.
With her wedding day drawing near, she had many issues to resolve.@@novelbin@@
Seeing the girl who once needed his protection now grow into a leader capable of carrying the responsibilities of War God Mountain filled Luo En with a sense of satisfaction.
Then, after watching Medusa walk away, he finally closed the great door with a wave of his hand and turned to the Amazon known as “Diana” with a mixture of amusement and annoyance.
“Artemis, what brought you here?”
Indeed, the visitor was none other than the Moon and Goddess of the Hunt, who was supposed to be resting in Arcadia.
And this silver-haired, blue-eyed guise was exactly what Artemis had used to disguise her identity with illusion techniques when they had snuck into Cyprus Island together.
Only now, Artemis had turned this look into her incarnated spirit form using her divine power, making it easier for her to walk the earth.
As for why she named herself “Diana,” Luo En pretty much guessed it by now.
Diana, also known as Diana or Dianna, possibly deriving from the word “light,” is the goddess in future Ancient Roman mythology who governs the moon, oak forests, witchcraft, hunting, and other powers. In late Roman art, Diana is depicted as a lover of the outdoors, roaming the forests and wilds armed with a bow and arrow, accompanied by a pack of dogs and frolicking with numerous nymphs in hunting games, sometimes traveling in a silver chariot drawn by two sacred deer. Moreover, she vowed to remain a chaste virgin goddess for all her life.
In fact, this Roman chief goddess Diana corresponds to the current Artemis.
Additionally, Artemis referring to herself as an “Amazonian” was not entirely made up.
