The Greece Antagonist

Chapter 451: 8 Ridden by the Goddess

Chapter 451: Chapter 8 Ridden by the Goddess

At this moment, inside the cave.

Having confirmed their next target, Luo En’s eyes twinkled as he tentatively inquired.

“If that’s the case, is it possible to gather those individuals favored by ‘Destiny’ to War God Mountain in advance and have me personally instruct them?”

“I advise you not to do so,”

Hecate shook her head solemnly, earnestly advising.

“As I’ve told you, Destiny is not set in stone. Their experiences shape their existence and determine their future. If you intervene too much, you might affect, or even strip away, that ‘possibility’ within them, causing them to become indistinguishable from the masses.”

Luo En was a person who heeded advice, firmly keeping Hecate’s reminders in mind.

Seeing this, Hecate nodded in satisfaction and added in a deep voice.

“Furthermore, The Three Fates have now set their sights on you. If you brazenly interfere and cause a change beyond what ‘Destiny’ can tolerate, it’s very likely that all three of them will intervene collectively. Even if they can’t act against you directly, they can still influence those around you, rendering your previous efforts null and void.

Thus, even though you hold the position of Chief God and outstrip the other gods in the Mortal World, for safety’s sake, it is best when wandering the earth to do so in the form of an incarnation.”

Listening to this heartfelt advice, a trace of skepticism appeared on Luo En’s face.

“Why are you telling me this?”

He remembered that this mentor of his was not the type to consider others altruistically.

“Because you have already created an ‘impossibility’ that surpasses the calculations of Fate.”

Hecate gazed at her most outstanding student before her, revealing a look of deep admiration in her eyes, and spoke leisurely.

“You are stronger than me and perhaps, can go even farther than I have.”

At this point, the two were firmly bound together, where their union would be mutually beneficial and their separation mutually detrimental.

Mutually scheming and internal conflict would likely lead to mutual destruction, ultimately benefitting The Three Fates.

Although she held the Divine Authority of intrigue, some concepts, perhaps, should be updated.

Luo En gave his teacher a deep look and smiled generously.

“Don’t worry, I probably won’t disappoint you.”

Hopefully…

Hecate murmured under her breath as she watched her student gradually disappear into the darkness, until his figure vanished under a canopy of stars.

“Meh?”

In the corner of the cave, two goats licked their rough tongues, letting out a puzzled bleat as their heads turned, eyeing the bidipedal female creature who seemed to be muttering to herself in front of a stone pillar.

Seeing the demon’s sharp horns and yellow-brown pupils, Hecate’s body stiffened, her expression frozen.

Moments later, the lament of a certain Queen of Hell echoed throughout the cave.

“Luo En, you little scoundrel—take them away! Take them away!”

~~

“Achoo!”

Standing on the mountain path, a certain disobedient disciple involuntarily felt a chill behind him and sneezed heartily.

“Who?”

Luo En turned sharply, looking toward the dense forest behind him.

“Not a bad reaction,”

Accompanied by the rustling sound of branches and leaves, the Goddess with purple hair and golden eyes stepped out from the forest.

“So it’s you, Sister Ya.” Luo En’s tense body relaxed slightly, raising his hand to scratch his somewhat itchy nose, he casually inquired, “What about Eris? Weren’t you chasing after her?”

“She got away.”

“That woman managed to slip away from you? That doesn’t seem right,”

“Couldn’t help it, Zeus intervened.”

Athena spread her hands with a hint of helplessness.

She had been chasing Eris all the way to the Sea of Okeanos and almost had the Goddess of Discord cornered.

Unexpectedly, the sea suddenly clouded over with dark clouds, thunder roared, and bolts of lightning descended from the sky, separating her from Eris.

Ultimately, taking advantage of the delay provided by the thunderclouds, that Goddess of Discord managed to escape and hide within the Primordial Sea.

“However, although she got away, that woman probably won’t be able to come out and stir up trouble again for a while,”

Athena, having described the encounter, showed a black and lustrous feather, restoring her dignity.

Observing fresh blood at the base of the feather, Luo En felt a shiver run down his spine sympathetically.

Without guessing, it was clear that Eris’s freshly grown feathers had probably been plucked clean again.

“Sister Ya, formidable!”

After complimenting her, Luo En gave a dry laugh and turned to leave.

“If there’s nothing else, I’ll be on my way…”

However, before he could finish speaking, a delicate pale hand gently rested on his shoulder, and a faint voice came from beside his ear.

“Her account is settled, what about ours?”

Indeed, there are no Goddesses in Greece without a streak of pettiness.

Luo En muttered a resigned comment to himself, facing that almost smiling beautiful face, his eyes shifted as he spoke formally.

“Just now I met with Hecate and have made a significant discovery!”

He proceeded to relate everything about the situation at War God Mountain in the past few days as well as the contents of his confidential talk with Hecate in full detail to Athena.

“Destiny is not solely in the hands of the gods, but can also be gathered in the hearts of mankind? Intriguing…”

Athena’s bright eyes sparkled with interest, a smile of anticipation appeared on her face as she murmured softly to herself.

“Looks like it’s necessary to expedite the selection of Holy Warriors.”

In addition to the titles of ‘Lady of the Labyrinth,’ ‘Goddess of Magic,’ and ‘Mother Goddess,’ Athena also held the title of ‘Mother of Heroes.’

For many heroes in Greek mythology, their successful passage through the trials decreed by Fate and their completion of great feats were all inseparable from the guidance of the Goddess of Wisdom.

“I think so too.”

Luo En, having successfully dodged the lethal question, felt much better, and even his tone lightened considerably.

As the two of them were talking, a white snowy owl flew through the dense forest and landed on Athena’s shoulder.

Athena stroked the little guy’s head, opened the bamboo tube tied to its ankle, took out the note inside, and looked down at it.

Her bright eyes then narrowed slightly, her gaze turning playful.

“It’s a letter from Aegeus.”

Aegeus was the son of Pandion, the grandson of Cecrops, and also the current King of Athens.

However, due to Athena’s own regency and the division of power among many goddesses, this King of Athens did not have much of a presence.

It took Luo En a few seconds to recall.

“What’s up, does he have something important?”

After the war between the gods, Athena’s true form fell into slumber, and Luo En took over the authority of The Three Fates, becoming the de facto ruler of Athens.

The always demure King would actually bypass Luo En, his temporary superior, and send a letter directly to Athena; it was very likely that he had encountered some trouble he could not resolve on his own and needed to seek the advice of Athena, the Chief God whom he worshipped.

Indeed, it was exactly the case.

Athena nodded her head, pinching the note, her eyes shimmering darkly.

“Aegeus has a son now, called ‘Theseus’.”

Upon hearing this, Luo En’s eyes narrowed slightly.

Theseus, the future King of Athens, is quite a famous hero among the early Greek heroes.

Legend has it that King Aegeus of Athens had no sons, so he was quite fearful of his brothers who had fifty children and bore him enmity.

Under a strong sense of crisis, Aegeus wanted to remarry in secret, without his wife’s knowledge, hoping to have a son to comfort his old age and inherit his throne.

Therefore, he confided his intentions to his friend King Pittheus of Troizen City, hoping for help.

Conveniently, Pittheus had just received an oracle that his daughter would not have a public marriage, yet would bear a son of renown.

Consequently, Pittheus decided to quietly marry his daughter Aethra to Aegeus.

The King of Athens then married the Troizenian princess Aethra, spent some time with her in secret, returned to Athens, left a token behind, bid farewell to his new wife, and instructed her:

“If the gods only bless us and grant you a son, then please raise him in secret, letting no one know who the child’s father is. When the child grows into a strong, robust man, have him bring the token to Athens to find me!”

Later on, as expected, the Troizenian princess Aethra conceived and bore a child, naming him “Theseus.”

As Theseus grew into a valorous youth, he took the weapons and tokens left by Aegeus and set off for Athens to seek his father.

After many trials and tribulations, father and son were reunited, and Theseus, who had performed many acts of kindness and vanquished evil along the way, naturally succeeded to the throne as the King of Athens.

All seemed perfect up to this point.

But the problem was that Troizen City was under the domain of the Sea God Poseidon, and the Troizenians regarded him as the protector of their city,

and Theseus’ mother and grandfather had publicly proclaimed that he was the son of the Sea God Poseidon…

Luo En mulled over the associated information in his mind and spoke thoughtfully.

“So, Aegeus is doubting the child’s bloodline and identity?”

“Exactly, he wants me to verify the truth to prevent Athens’ royal power from falling into the wrong hands.”

Athena nodded, a hint of mockery flashing through her eyes.

She couldn’t help it, Poseidon’s reputation was too loud.

The guardian god of Troizen city was known for his brazen nature; he didn’t hesitate to pursue any female that caught his eye.

Since Aegeus had been childless for so many years, suddenly acquiring an illegitimate son after going out and about could easily stir doubt whether he became the fall guy.

Furthermore, Poseidon had always wanted to develop Athens into his own Holy Land and had tried to infiltrate Athens’ royal power by various means. Aegeus had to be cautious. Proactively asking for instructions from her, his Chief God, was also to prevent future mistakes of entrusting it to the wrong person, which might lead to greater problems.

“It seems I need to take a trip outside,”

Athena spoke softly, beckoning a tame Pegasus with a wave of her hand.

Luo En stepped forward, adjusting Athena’s saddle while speaking somewhat helplessly,

“There’s been too much going on recently. As soon as I finish up the work at hand, I also need to travel the nations in an Incarnation to find suitable bearers for the Sacred Robes, so I’m afraid I can’t accompany you.”

“Don’t worry, this little matter I can handle on my own.”

The Goddess of Wisdom, accustomed to independence, waved her hand, reassuring him before appearing to recall something, then smiled at Luo En.

“By the way, it’s safer to travel using a new identity, have you prepared an alias yet?”

“Not yet.”

“Let me help you choose one then, let’s call you Pegasus!”

“Ahem…”

Luo En, who had just been endowed with a new alias, coughed violently, assailed by a certain dead memory, and his look at Athena was filled with a peculiar light.

Pegasus? Sasha?

Could it be such a coincidence? Or did she sneak a look at my memories?

“Alright, Pegasus, it’s settled then!”

However, as Luo En looked up to see Athena mounting her steed with a teasing air, taking to the skies with her mount, he suddenly realized.

Question: What’s the role of “Pegasus”?

Answer: To be ridden under Athena, the Goddess…

That damned dead memory!@@novelbin@@

It was evidently because Athena still held a grudge about him roasting her at the wedding, and intentionally chose “Pegasus,” a name with implied meaning, for a comeback.

— Even if you’re smart or brave, aren’t you still ridden by me?

Standing in place, Luo En figured out the answer, with a face as black as a pot’s bottom.
