The Greece Antagonist

Chapter 471: Chapter 20 This is a Necessary Sacrifice

In the Arcadia Palace, the atmosphere was exceptionally somber.

Lying on the bed, King Iasus’s face was pale, his eyes flickered with traces of unwillingness, and he stubbornly inquired once more towards the figure draped in a star and moon robe, holding the Caduceus.

“Priest, is there really no other way?”

“Your Majesty, alchemy cannot create something out of nothing. To obtain what one desires, a corresponding price must be paid. And the only thing that can save a life—is another life…”

The low voice came from the black robe, as the mysterious Priest shook his head slightly, his face a picture of helplessness.

King Iasus bit his lip, his expression fluctuating.

“But isn’t this too risky?”

“The campaign against the Magic Beasts will inevitably involve death, this is the path they have chosen themselves, and you need not be responsible for it. Furthermore, what we are doing is simply making this sacrifice a bit more worthwhile.”

“They ultimately came to quell the disasters of Arcadia…”

“You are the pillar that keeps Arcadia standing firm. Since they wish to restore peace to this land, sacrificing themselves for you is also something they ought to do.”

Eventually, persuaded by the Priest, King Iasus fell silent for a moment then, clutching his chest which had begun to ache again, a harsh determination flashed in his eyes as he declared.

“Fine, we’ll do as you say!”

Hearing King Iasus’s contemplation, the Priest raised a hand to his chest and nodded respectfully.

“Rest assured, Your Majesty, I shall not fail your trust.”

On the third day, the Royal Palace and the Temple of the Moon Goddess issued a decree for assembly, ready to officially combat the Beast Disaster ravaging the Arcadian mountains.@@novelbin@@

Heroes from various city-states arrived one after another, gathering in front of the palace square.

Luo En and his companions had also packed early, ready to leave.

However, just before departure, the Twin brothers refused their sister Helen’s request to accompany them, adamantly refusing to bring her along for the campaign.

Their near-death experience on the mountain path had left the Twins with lingering trepidation.

Not only had their sister nearly died in the jaws of a three-headed dragon serpent, but they themselves had nearly perished in the creature’s toxic mist.

In the Arcadian mountains rife with Magic Beasts, who knew how many more dangers awaited them. The brothers were not confident of their own safe return; taking along their pampered sister Helen would exponentially increase the risk.

Both for the public good and in private interest, the Twin brothers did not wish to have Helen join them in braving the mountains.

Therefore, the safest course of action was for Helen to stay within the high walls of the Arcadia Royal City, awaiting news of their triumphant return.

Helen was naturally very unwilling to accept her brothers’ decision, but facing the resolved stance of her two brothers, she could only submit sullenly and stay obediently within the courtyard protected by a barrier.

As a precaution, Luo En added a few additional Defensive Charms.

With everything arranged, the group then hurried to the palace square.

Upon arriving at their destination, they found that several dozen Divine Blood Heroes had already gathered there.

However, most of these were of the second or third generation demigods, limited in talent and ability. While many had stepped into the realm of demigods, most were not well-known.

Luo En glanced around but failed to find more than a few renowned Divine Blood Heroes, temporarily quelling his intention to recruit for the Eighty-Eight Constellations.

Similarly, the surrounding Divine Blood Heroes were also discreetly assessing these newcomers to their hunting group, hearing snippets of their stories and the titles of the two Spartan Princes, their eyes suddenly showed a touch more warmth.

Of course, a certain ineffectual white card was not among them but instead drew scornful looks because of his excessively handsome appearance and the two beautiful young women accompanying him.

Without asking, it was obvious he was a pretty boy who was all show and no substance.

Luo En was indifferent to this, but the Twins who had benefitted from his generosity could not stand it and loudly reported his undercover role as a teacher at the Academy of Athens to the auditing Priests of the Temple of the Moon Goddess.

Upon hearing this prestigious identity, the surrounding Divine Blood Heroes could not help but restrain some of their scorn, offering their respects.

The Academy of Athens was the most well-known educational institution in all of Greece, committed to dispelling ignorance and enlightening wisdom.

Founded by Sage Chiron and a host of other deities, it had during this period broadly incorporated talent from all over Greece, disseminating knowledge to humanity and catalyzing considerable social change. Strictly speaking, they had all benefited from it.

After completing their studies, Medicine God Asclepius and many demigods from various nations joined the War God Mountain. Traveling abroad, they were involved in healing the sick, mitigating disasters, or innovating technology, continuously bringing benefits to the people.

Nowadays, with the dual influence of the Academy of Athens and War God Mountain, along with the widespread cultural dissemination, Athens had already become the cultural center of Greece, earning the reputation of “Greeks’ Athens.”

Seeing the attitude shift in those around him, Luo En inwardly nodded.

In an age where power was revered, to carve out respect for culture and education from the community of demigods was no small feat; it was sufficient to prove the effectiveness of the “cultural victory” strategy he and Athena had formulated.

As long as the plan continued to be patiently advanced, with the gradual withdrawal of the gods and the end of the heroes’ era, Athens would become for the whole of Greece, the “Greeks’ Athens.”
