Chapter 30
“Hey, no chatting. If I catch you doing it again, you’ll be kicked out.”
Gulp.
The knights, not wanting to be thrown out after going through the trouble of visiting the little one, instinctively quieted down.
“These idiots…”
Howlf clicked his tongue at the knights who were acting overly excited, as though they were on a picnic.
He wanted to give them a good scolding all together, but he couldn’t do that in front of Elodie.
He narrowed his eyes and silently gave the knights a warning before getting to the point.
“The little one has something to say.”
Elodie, for some reason, was dressed in a uniform.
How could such a small uniform even exist?
Did she specifically order it? Why?
Was it because the uniform looked cool? Or did she just want to look cool?
This is insane...
“Ugh.”
The knights groaned, but they couldn’t bring themselves to say ‘that word’ in front of the child.
They must never say that she was cute in front of the baby, not when she was putting on such a stern face.
Elodie, sensing the knights’ discomfort, scanned their faces.
“Gentlemen.”@@novelbin@@
She then seriously began to speak the words she had prepared.
“I am thinking of forming a team and assigning a secret mission.”
“A secret mission!”
The knights were clearly impressed.
Wasn't their speech too smooth and lacking in experience?
The little one was only five!
They were amazed by her words, but also amused by her attempts to act grown-up, as if she had been chosen by the gods like Ratson.
The knights pinched their thighs to keep their faces from betraying their growing smiles.
“This mission will exclude the dog and the kitten.”
Murmurs of surprise.
While they tried to keep serious expressions, one of the knights from the Silver Order – a wolf, no less – suddenly raised his hand and asked a question.
“Why is that?”
“Because it’s still a bit off-putting.”
Murmurs grew louder!
Elodie, feeling the rising tension, added hastily.
“But it’s not scary, though.”
“They must be really scary,” the wolf knights muttered.
‘Oh, this isn’t working.’
Elodie pouted.
But, the truth was, they were a little less scary than the beasts, but Elodie had seen firsthand the terrifying violence and strength of the beastfolk, so she couldn’t say a word.
This cruel world of survival of the fittest.
The Holy Hammer didn’t work on the majority.
“Isn’t that right? Quiet down.”
Only Howlf agreed with her, kindly.
Elodie, as a thank-you, patted his shoulder.
“Kheuk.”
It was inevitable that the commander, holding his chest as if he had a chronic illness, staggered in frustration.
“That's low.”
“Commander, you’re just scoring points.”
“Traitor. Traitor.”
“Quiet!”
Howlf shouted as if something had struck a nerve.
“Anyone who wants to volunteer, step forward.”
As soon as those words were spoken, the knights eagerly raised their hands.
Without even knowing what the task was.
As soon as everyone in the room raised their hands, Howlf sighed deeply.
“Pick five.”
The knights glared at each other with fierce eyes, as if ready to start a duel at the drop of a hat.
There was no sign of anyone backing down.
Elodie, seeing the impending chaos, quickly spoke up.
“To carry out the mission, you have to be clever.”
“Ah, that’s exactly what I’m good at.”
Just then.
The leader of the Golden Order, Leopard, entered the training grounds with a confident smile on his face.
When the lion beastfolk appeared, Howlf’s eyes briefly flashed with disdain.
Not the expression he wanted to show in front of the little one, so he quickly closed his eyes to suppress his anger and said:
“I did not call for you.”
“Am I supposed to come at your command? When did this public training ground become a place for wolves only?”
“I said that the little one did not call for you.”
Of course, there were not just wolves, but also bears and humans present, but the two commanders only seemed to care about each other, baring their teeth and growling.
Ugh, here we go again.
The bears and humans, feeling ignored, weren’t upset so much as completely fed up, watching the situation unfold with faces full of annoyance.
They didn’t want to get involved in the mud-slinging fight.
“Well, it’s because we haven’t met in person yet. Right, little one?”
Among all the beastfolk Elodie had seen, Leopard was the most handsome and tall, but his sharp, lion-like face suddenly came close to hers.
Elodie jumped back in surprise, and Howlf recoiled in horror as though the little one had touched some disease, quickly distancing himself.
“I am Lord Leopard, the leader of the Golden Order. By the way, I’m neither a dog nor a cat.”
I can tell that much.
“We, the Golden Order, also wish to participate in the mission. Will you grant us the qualification?”
Technically, lions were part of the cat family too.
But she couldn’t say the wolves were okay and the lions weren’t.
Reluctantly, Elodie nodded.
“Haha, the princesses will love this.”
Princesses?
There were no princesses in the Silvaria Kingdom.
Could it be that he was calling the members of his order ‘princesses’?
Seeing Lord Leopard getting excited to score some points made Elodie uneasy.
“Princess? Where are the princesses?”
“Oh, it’s just a nickname I use for my lovers.”
“……”
Didn’t he just say "princesses"?
‘Does he have two lovers?’
Please, there’s no way there are more than that, right?
But, as always, ‘you never know’.
The door opened, and a group of golden-haired, strong, and seemingly beautiful lion beastfolk rushed into the training grounds.
Even someone like Elodie, who couldn’t always distinguish genders well, couldn’t help but realize.
The entire Golden Order was made up of women...
All of them were princesses...
‘Ten?’
Did he give them the nickname ‘princess’ because he couldn’t remember their real names?
Elodie glared at Leopard, just as she had with Howlf, with a look of disgust.
“Howfu! Howfu!”
He quickly scooped up the child calling for him desperately and hid her behind his back.
“I thought you’d at least try not to show your trashy side in front of the little one, but I guess if you’re human…”
He couldn’t resist showing his filthy side in front of the little one.
Howlf sighed deeply, closing his eyes in regret as if he had done something terrible.
“I apologize.”
Elodie, who had seen all kinds of things living as a rat, didn’t really care about people’s private lives or preferences.
But the type of person who could proudly walk around with multiple lovers without any shame was a rat poison.
From the way things looked, it seemed like a consensual relationship...
“Ugh.”
But how could she help feeling disgusted?
His smooth words and that sly face reminded her of the prince, making her feel even worse.
Elodie clung tightly to Howlf, ignoring Leopard’s wounded expression.
“Little one. It’s just a lion’s instinct. Nothing I can do…”
“Instinct?”
As he tried to make an excuse, the wolves, sensing an opportunity, began to pounce.
“Since you still have that instinct, why don’t you just eat your meat raw?”
“Shouldn’t you be walking on all fours instead?”
“Yeah, you’re pretending to be a person, but you have ten lovers! What’s up with that?”
“Go get your wildness back!”
The wolves teased Leopard’s selective instincts and started swinging the swords they had pulled out earlier.
It was clear they had been waiting for a chance to pounce, and they seemed ecstatic to finally have it.
What do you think?
