Chapter 231: Welcome to the Dwarf Workshop! (1)
Chapter 231: Welcome to the Dwarf Workshop! (1)
As with any sport, the spotlight always shone on the victor, and raids were no exception.
[Rank 1 Kai! A spectacular finale for the second main episode.]
[The man who does it all. How far can his limits go?]
[The dignity of the absolute ruler of MID Online, who took down Zatan (photo attached).]
[Warriors guild official statement, 'We are very satisfied with the results of the joint operation with Unknown.']
[Cheonhwa, who chased after Zatan, left frustrated and emptyhanded[1]. What’s next for the Cheonhwa guild?]
[Record-breaking views and ticket sales for raid stream. Warriors benefit greatly from the Unknown effect.]
Both the Warriors and Kai were, in their own ways, victors. However, most of the spotlight was directed at Kai.
Well, I guess it’s only natural.
Kai scrolled through the online articles with a surprisingly calm expression. In fact, his face even showed a hint of feeling that this was exactly how it should be.
I soloed Phases 2 and 3 of Zatan and took out 70% of its health. This much is deserved.
He had been the clear standout in this raid. He was the protagonist, and everyone else was just supporting characters. But that didn’t mean the others lacked presence.
The Warriors guild was an unrivaled force that boasted overwhelming dignity on any stage. Yet, Kai had overshadowed their presence with his skill, leaving viewers with no room to even think about the Warriors.
“Whew, my body feels a bit stiff.”
Crack, crack.
Kai rotated his neck and stretched his body.
Zatan was massive. The largest monster Kai had ever seen before was the Death Dragon Sineras. Zatan was slightly smaller, but still enormous enough to leave Kai feeling aching all over.
I shouldn’t head anywhere else and head straight to the highest-class inn to switch to sleep mode.
His character was already healed and was physically fine. The important thing was Kai himself—Han Jung-Woo’s mind.
I feel like my brain is melting.
Kai was so exhausted that such thoughts felt justified. What he needed right now was nothing but a sweet, deep sleep.
What had drained him to this extent was none other than Zatan’s hidden Phase 3.
If someone sent me back to yesterday, I’d track them to the ends of the Earth and throttle them.
Kai recalled facing Zatan with a tiresome expression. The moment Zatan’s health dropped below 30%, Phase 3 began. The gravity field’s intensity doubled, and it unleashed four elemental magic attacks from its four legs.
Honestly, it’s a miracle I survived. I’m not sure I would be able to do it again.
Kai had to analyze hundreds of spells hurtling toward him in real-time, dodge them, and counterattack its weak points. He poured everything he had into the fight, reaching a state that could only be described as being in the zone.
Of course, because of this, the community was now in the midst of an unprecedented celebration!
-This will be something to brag about forever. I’ll even tell my kids one day: 'Your dad watched this legendary raid live.’
-I noticed it during the Black Bee fight, but Unknown’s magic resistance is insanely high.
└ Not only that, but he barely gets hit.
└ He just glances at a spell like, 'What the hell is this?’ and casually dodges it lol
-It’s clear not just anyone can be number one.
-This undoubtedly proves the dignity of the best player in MID Online once again.
-With that skill, shouldn’t Kai be placed above the world’s Nine Guilds?
└ Come on, no matter how good he is, the world’s Nine Guilds are immense forces... Hmm, that sounds odd now that I’m saying it.
└ Right? Especially since two of those guilds have already fallen to Kai.
“Good reactions.”
Kai had gained several things from the Zatan raid. Of course, there were sacrifices he had to make to obtain them.
The biggest one is the raid ticket revenue.
Kai didn’t ask for even a single coin for ticket sales. Despite this, his MID Online community account was being flooded with donations.
Ah, now I might be able to do that now.
Staring at the donation window, Kai closed his eyes. After exactly ten seconds, he slowly reopened them.
Nice. I just bought myself a sports car.
That was how crazily the donations were pouring in. It was impossible to count them all or even see who was sending how much. With each blink, the names and amounts in the donation list changed.
What snapped Kai out of staring at the donation window was the sound of a notification.
Ding!
[You have defeated the Master of Deceivers, Zatan.]
[You made an absolute contribution to its defeat.] @@novelbin@@
[The Solarian God Helik looks at you with the eyes of someone admiring a tough cookie.]

[Acquired 35 stat points.]
[The hostility of the Church of Muldine toward you has deepened.]
[The Church of Muldine will prepare curses targeting you.]
As expected, or perhaps more than expected, the rewards flooded in. Looking at them, Kai smiled broadly, almost like a father admiring his child.
Two special titles at once? Jackpot.
He had anticipated earning the Episode Conqueror title by slaying Zatan, but he hadn’t expected to earn the Disaster Destroyer title for his absolute contribution.
I even leveled up seven times, and 15 Benevolence points isn’t bad either.
However, Kai brushed all of it off lightly. As mentioned earlier, he hadn’t taken even a single coin from the raid ticket sales.
“All for this.”
Zatan was a giant chimera, meticulously made by the Church of Muldine. Until now, the largest monster Kai had faced was the Death Dragon Sineras, and Zatan was almost as massive, meaning its loot was bound to be plentiful.
Kai had waived any revenue from ticket sales under the condition that he soloed Zatan from Phase 2 onward, and he gained full ownership of all loot from Zatan.
In short, everything this one drops is mine.
It was essential not to forget the crucial fact that this was a game. Defeating a level 100 main episode boss held far more significance than taking down a level 1,000 rabbit. And this time was no exception.
That Death Dragon was a beast at level 550, but wasn’t a main episode raid boss.
Sineras was merely the ruler of Snowy Mountains, one of the four major magical regions in MID Online. That was why Kai was even more excited at this moment.
Let’s see the difference, shall we?
Kai wondered whether the level 550 Death Dragon or the level 350 Zatan would yield more exciting loot.
Tap.
As Kai touched Zatan’s corpse, the loot list unfolded.
“Acquire all.”
[You have acquired 320 pieces of Zatan’s Hard Shell.]
[You have acquired 270 portions of Zatan’s Multi Flavored Meat.]
[You have acquired 158 pieces of Zatan’s Composite Bones.]
[You have acquired 1 Burning Leg of Zatan.]
[You have acquired 1 Frozen Leg of Zatan.]
[You have acquired 1 Throbbing Leg of Zatan.]
.

.
[You have acquired Skill Book-Gravity Field.]
[You have acquired Skill Book-Petrification.]
[You have acquired Zatan’s Core.]
“Oooo.”
The rewards were far more abundant than expected.
As for what might actually be useful to me right now...
Kai’s gaze landed on the two skill books.
“Item appraisal.”
[Skill Book-Gravity Field]
Grade: Unique
Manipulate gravity within a designated area.
[Skill Book-Petrification]
Grade: Unique
Designate a target and put them into a petrified state.
While petrified, the target is immune to all damage.
“Hm?!”
Gravity Field and Petrification were both skills Zatan had used during the battle.
No minion summoning skill, but it would’ve been strange if there was one.
Both of the minions had been troublesome to deal with, even for Kai as he thought about them now. If there were a skill book for summoning minions, it would have thrown everything off balance.
Then again, looking for balance in this game is kind of silly.
Kai smirked and pondered for a moment.
Both Gravity Field and Petrification are mana-based skills.
Currently, without any buffs, Kai’s Intelligence stat was around 700.
I’ve set the stat window to hide mana values, but if I calculate it, my current mana should be just over 70,000.
Petrification and Gravity Field—neither consumed Holy Power, making it hard to justify discarding them. More importantly, Kai disliked the idea of these skills falling into someone else’s hands.
Honestly, only top-ranking players would be able to afford these skills.
And most top-ranking players were his competitors. Selling these skills would only better his rivals.
In that case... Why don’t I just learn them myself?
Once the thought crossed his mind, it extended to other skills he had set aside for sale.
“Item appraisal.”
[Hellfire]
Grade: Unique
Summon the flames of hell to burn enemies.
*Hellfire’s damage scales with intelligence.
[Dark Spear]
Grade: Unique
Summon a spear of darkness to pierce enemies.
*Can only be learned by those with the special stat, Malice.
Hmm? Dark Spear isn’t even an option for me.
As if boasting its exclusivity as a skill of Zirukan, the demon lord’s follower, Dark Spear was a skill that could only be learned by those possessing the special stat, Malice.
Then I’ll sell this one as planned...
Kai turned his attention to the remaining three skills.
Gravity Field, Petrification, and Hellfire.
Suddenly, a question about his identity surfaced in his mind.
I’m a Cleric...
From level 10 until now, Kai had been a Cleric. He was still a Cleric and intended to remain one. Yet here he was, wielding swords on the frontlines and casting holy spells.
And now I’m a strange Cleric even considering learning magic.
If others knew about this, they would spin their fingers near their temples to call him crazy.
Still... Why do I think it’ll be fun?
Anyone could tell by looking at Kai’s face that he was excited. However, he cautiously stored the Hellfire skill book back into his inventory.
With an Intelligence stat of 700, Hellfire wouldn’t be much use anyway.
At best, it would amount to nothing more than a flashy Fireball with skill effects. Therefore, he chose to only learn the skills he could utilize to their full potential.
Ding!
[You have learned the Gravity Field skill.]
[You have learned the Petrification skill.]
As Kai read through the skill descriptions, his lips curved into a smile.
1. The literal translation here would be: left staring at the roof. It comes from the Korean phrase 닭 쫓던 개 지붕 쳐다보기 (dog left staring at the roof after chasing the chicken) which means that a person worked hard on something but due to an unbreakable obstacle, they're unable to obtain what they've worked for. ☜
What do you think?
