Chapter 70: Chapter 070 Boyfriend’s Responsibility
After getting off the high-speed train, Qi Yue and Gu Huai took a bus for several hours.
Halfway through their journey, it started to rain outside, and the rain seemed to be getting heavier.
With a headache, Qi Yue glanced out of the window and said, “It looks like the rain is getting heavier… The weather in the mountains is really fickle. I even checked the weather forecast before we left, which said no rain for these days…”
“Maybe it’ll stop by the time we get there,” Gu Huai chimed in.
Qi Yue nodded, hoping that would be the case.
When they arrived, it was completely dark, yet the downpour showed no signs of weakening.
At their stop, only Qi Yue and Gu Huai got off, and although there was a simple rain shed overhead, it was not very effective against the rain due to the strong wind.
Here, the roads were all mountain trails, impassable by car. They had to walk the rest of the way to their destination.
They had no idea when the rain might stop…
The surrounding area within miles was sparsely populated, and now under the inky darkness of night, a torrential downpour ensued.
The whole world seemed to only consist of her and Gu Huai.
Even though Qi Yue often visited rural and wilderness areas, she still could not help feeling a bit spooked at that moment, shivering as she said, “Damn! This… dead vines, old trees… deserted wilderness… stormy night… It’s just like a scene out of a horror movie…”
Gu Huai chuckled lightly, “If one were alone, it would indeed be similar, but with two people, it’s not so bad.”
Qi Yue: “Uh…”
That’s not a matter of how many people there are, right?
Qi Yue glanced at the man beside her and saw that Gu Huai, even under such severe conditions, remained unperturbed. He leisurely watched the curtain of rain as if he were on vacation, admiring the scenery.
The master is truly a master! Such a state of mind!
While Qi Yue was thinking, she suddenly felt less rain on herself, at first thinking the rain had lightened, only to turn her head and see Gu Huai standing to the side, blocking most of the rainfall.
Huh?
Could it be that the master was deliberately blocking the rain for her?
Qi Yue asked, “Master, we’re not far from where we’re staying, and it’s only a short walk, but with the rain so heavy, what should we do? Should we wait it out?”
Gu Huai gauged the intensity of the rain, which clearly wouldn’t stop anytime soon.
And if they continued to stand there, that would be the same as getting drenched.
Gu Huai: “How long will it take to walk there?”
Qi Yue: “Around ten minutes, I guess!”
Gu Huai: “Let’s just go.”
Qi Yue had the same thought: “Okay! Let’s walk quickly!”
Qi Yue picked up her small bag to hold over her head, although it was too small to cover much, but it was better than nothing.
Just as she was about to dash into the rain, a garment carrying body warmth unexpectedly landed on her head.
Only then did Qi Yue realize that Gu Huai had taken off his coat without her noticing and had draped it over her.
Seeing this, Qi Yue quickly spoke up, “Master! You put it back on. Otherwise, with such heavy rain, you’ll catch a cold!” @@novelbin@@
Gu Huai reached out and carefully adjusted the coat for her, his voice, cool as a mountain spring, slowly whispering to her amidst the torrential rain, “My girlfriend has helped me solve so many troubles along the way. Shouldn’t I have the chance to fulfill my duties and responsibilities as a boyfriend?”
What do you think?
