Chapter 957
Chapter 957: 456 Tear Ticket_1 Chapter 957: 456 Tear Ticket_1 Instinctively, Norman Capris bent over to pick up the silver lock.
It was a cute, delicate silver lock, adorned with five small bells that jingled crisply.
There seemed to be an antique pattern etched on the lock with two apparent characters in the center.
Norman looked at it in the light.
“Fanny?”
He stroked the back of the lock, revealing more inscriptions.
He flipped it over for a better look.
The letters were even smaller now.
He squinted and seemed to make out “year of gengwu August…” but the remaining characters were too tiny to decipher.
Clydie snapped back to reality, pushed him away, and ran.
Instead of calling for help, she dashed over to the unconscious Peter Aria, pushing him and shouting,
“Sir, sir, wake up…”
Norman was somewhat puzzled by her actions.
“The sleeping potion I used would knock out a bull, even if the sky fell, he wouldn’t wake.
Stop wasting your energy.”
“Norman, do you realize what you’re doing is a crime?
It’s not too late to turn back.”
“I guess you’ve taken a fancy to this rich guy, right?
ƝονǤο.ᴄᴑ
Quit being naive.
Do you really think he could fall for a village girl like you?
Join me for a big score, and we can escape the country.
We’ll be untouchable, and all you’ll have left are good times.
Isn’t it better than washing dishes in Little Town?”
Astonishment crossed Clydie’s face as she looked down at the unconscious man.
The offer was incredibly enticing, but…
“I…I don’t want to spend my life as a fugitive.”
“I’ve already got a close accomplice.
Once we’re in Pethkids, we can smuggle ourselves abroad by boat.
The police can’t touch us then.”
Pethkids had the largest seaport.
As long as he had money, he could go anywhere.
Clydie bit her lower lip, mulling over the daily grind of washing dishes and playing nice with the despotic woman.
She had enough of this fruitless life.
Reading her hesitation, Norman continued.
“You think being a good person once will change your life?
You’ll still end up washing dishes in the back.
Look at your hands, so young yet more calloused than even your grandmother’s.
If we pull this off, you’ll have mansions and luxury cars, fancy dresses and bags, even male escorts and maids at your fingertips.
What are you hesitating for?”
Clydie trembled, “What…what do you want to do?”
A satisfied grin lit up Norman’s eyes as he brandished his phone.
“Call his next of kin, demanding a ransom of a hundred million.
If they don’t deliver, we offload him.”
Clydie was shocked to her core.
She didn’t know whether she was more startled by his audacious request or his nerve to go against Peter Aria.
“You’ve gone mad.”
“What, feeling sympathetic now?”
Norman shoved the phone into her hands: “You make the call.”
Almost crying, Clydie said, “I…I can’t.”
“I’ll instruct you.”
Just then, the sound of footsteps approached.
Matilda Wilson was humming to herself as she entered.
As she pushed open the door and saw the room’s interior, her face instantly changed.
She reacted quickly, spinning on her heel to run.
However, Norman was quicker.
He lunged, grabbed her hair, and threw her to the floor.
Matilda screamed.
Furious, she yelled, “Norman, have you lost your mind?
What in the hell are you doing?”
Norman chuckled darkly, “Matilda, you’ve seen it.
I’m desperate, with nowhere else to go.
Who knew that these rich folks would be so unlucky as to cross my path?
Just keep your mouth shut and look the other way, I won’t harm you.”
Matilda didn’t express gratitude, instead, she spat on his face, “How blind was I to raise a wolf like you.
You know this is a crime, right?
Two of these men are cops from Pethkids.
Are you looking for a death wish?”
Norman froze, “Cops?”
Frustrated, Matilda snapped, “Are you intentionally playing dumb?
Do you know what you’ve gotten yourself into?
You think you can mess with the police?
You dare rob them?
You’re begging for death.”
Having hosted a myriad of people over the years, Matilda had developed an eye for these things.
She’d long suspected this man was a cop from her interactions and observations with Madon Linggo.
Norman looked at the unconscious men, eventually focusing on Madon.
He was the only man Norman hadn’t checked for valuables.
He pulled out a wallet from Madon’s pocket.
Sure enough, he found a police badge.
Pethkids Cichardwood District Criminal Police Detachment Captain…
Norman’s legs gave out, and he swayed.
Pethkids was known for its formidable criminal police force.
What do you think?
