Chapter 995
Chapter 995: 468 Nightmare_3 Chapter 995: 468 Nightmare_3 Aubree Groove deeply sighed, raising her slender fingers and placing them on the nape of Peter Aria’s neck.
Peter Aria’s head tilted to one side and he fell unconscious.
Aubree Groove laid him down, checked his pulse, then furrowed her brow slightly.
“What’s wrong with my brother-in-law?” Anton Cook asked anxiously.
“His heart is preoccupied, and he cannot find peace,” replied Aubree Groove, letting go of his hand and shaking her head regretfully.
She quietly watched Peter Aria — even unconscious, his entire being screamed discomfort, his eyebrows tightly knotted.
Anton Cook stared at the silent Aubree Groove, feeling her gaze was unusually deep, with something he couldn’t understand.
Aubree Groove’s slender index finger tapped Peter Aria’s forehead lightly, and from the spaces between her lips emerged a powerful chant.
This silent force slowly calmed Peter Aria, causing his knitted brows to gradually relax.
Aubree Groove withdrew her finger and gazed silently at the sleeping Peter Aria, her brows furrowed.
“He’s fine now, let him sleep peacefully for a while.”
Aubree Groove glanced at the incense, now burned to ashes, then walked over and pinched some of the ashes.
Anton Cook quickly explained, “Mr.
Rinto brought it.”
“The incense contains mandrake and black champaca. If used in the wrong dosage, it could cause hallucinations, magnifying the preoccupations of an individual’s heart.”
This particular type of incense can be more harmful than Gaharu Fragrance.
In modern medicine, it is used to treat mental illness.
If used incorrectly, it can lead to severe mental breakdowns.
Anton Cook was puzzled momentarily, “Mr.
Rinto couldn’t have done it intentionally, right?”
Whether or not Agave Rinto had done it intentionally was less of an issue than the depth of Peter Aria’s obsessions.
Aubree Groove shook her head, then walked out.
It had been raining all night.
As dawn neared, the sky was overcast and heavily suffused with dark clouds, gloomy like an upturned cauldron.
The chilling wind, punctuated with relentless rain, hit her straight on, billowing her clothing.
Agave Rinto, having just emerged from the door, paused upon seeing Aubree Groove.
He then walked towards her.
“I’m sorry for being late.”
He eyed the garb Aubree Groove was wearing, frowning.
Aubree Groove said simply, “Dr.
Aria used your incense and fell into a nightmare.”
This incense wouldn’t have had much effect on someone with a robust will, but Dr.
Aria’s case was different.
It only served to magnify the obsessions within his heart, causing him to sink deeper into an abyss.
Agave Rinto’s expression abruptly darkened, “Dr.
Aria is okay, right?”
“He’s fine now.”
Agave Rinto nodded, “I understand.
I’ll take responsibility for this.”
There was no signal for mobile phones in the Buddhist Nunnery, so Agave Rinto ordered Finnian Moore to go down the mountain to check.
Originally, Miss Silvia Hayes used to be in charge of these incense matters.
Finnian Moore ventured, “Master McKay, it couldn’t be that Miss Hayes…” before trailing off in fear.
Agave Rinto’s face darkened, “It appears I’ve been too lenient with her; she doesn’t know her place.”
“She needs to be taught a lesson.
Make sure to take care of everyone else who played a part in all this.”
Kelly Martinez, who had slept till well past sunrise, yawned widely as she stepped outside, only to stop in her tracks with wide, disbelieving eyes.
A man had a bucket of water, was walking from the well, pouring the water from the bucket into a large water jar outside the kitchen, and then returning to the well to refill the bucket — his well-practiced motions almost broke her heart.
“My goodness, it’s the first time I’m seeing you work,” exclaimed Kelly Martinez, incredulous.
Without even lifting his head, the man retorted, “Get lost.”
Kelly Martinez pouted, “So ungrateful.”
Smelling the aroma wafting from the kitchen, Kelly Martinez inquisitively peered inside to find Aubree Groove stirring vegetables at the stove.
Anton Cook was crouched in front of the stove, tending the fire.
His face was smudged with soot.
“Oh my, it’s like a dream having both of you together for Three Meals a Day.
When will you two collaborate for a TV show again?
I bet your fans all over the country will go crazy,” she exclaimed.
Anton Cook, despite having experience tending the fire, was still somewhat flustered — something his fans would find heart-wrenching if they were to see it.
Kelly Martinez sidled up to Anton Cook, “Superstar, are you sure about not signing with my company?
I can organize it, get both of you on a variety show.
It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”
Anton Cook’s pupils contracted, fixed on the impudent face in front of him, narrowing his eyes slightly.
“Are you serious?”
Kelly Martinez’s eyes glittered playfully, “A promise is a promise.”
Ticking off her fingers, “Let me think… a travel variety show, sightseeing at the company’s expense.
Since you’re not interested, I’ll have to find another professional.”
Anton Cook glanced quickly at Aubree Groove, “Wait…”
Kelly Martinez grinned triumphantly, seemingly already counting the money she expected to earn.
Aubree Groove emerged from the kitchen with the cooked vegetables, “Lunch is ready.”
Smiling conspiratorially, Kelly Martinez whispered to Anton Cook, “The backdoor deal I offered you is only because of our relationship.
What do you think?
