The Hidden Dragon In-Law

Chapter 28 – Set up the feast!

After dealing with his mother-in-law's troubles, she took the cash and happily went to the bank to deposit it.

James Ye then went straight home.

As soon as he entered the house, he saw his wife Mary Xiao's shoes at the entrance, indicating she was already home, so he headed directly to the bedroom.

Upon entering the bedroom, he saw Mary just hanging up the phone, her face full of joy and excitement.

Curious, he asked, "Honey, who were you talking to just now?"

Mary excitedly replied, "It was my bestie, Linda Dong! Do you remember her?"

"Of course," James nodded, "She used to go to university in Jinling with you and you were quite close. Isn't she the daughter of a prominent family in Yanjing?"

"Yes," Mary said, "The Dong family is quite influential in Yanjing."

James smiled and asked, "So, is she coming to Jinling to visit you?"

Mary said, "Not just to visit me, she's coming to work in Jinling!"

James asked in confusion, "Why would a daughter of a prominent family in Yanjing come all the way to Jinling for a job instead of managing her own family's business?"

Mary said, "I'm not really sure either. She said she's coming to work at Dihao Group, but I don't know why she would come all the way to Dihao."

James nodded but thought to himself: Although the Dong family is far inferior to the Ye family, they still have some influence in Yanjing. Linda Dong has no need to give up her family's business to work at Dihao Group.

Could there be some special reason for her to join Dihao Group?

James was puzzled but couldn't figure it out at the moment.

It seemed he would have to wait until Linda Dong joined Dihao Group and then have Margaret Wang investigate her thoroughly.

At this moment, Mary seemed to remember something and patted her forehead, saying, "Oh, James, I have a meeting with people from Dihao Group tomorrow and can't get away. Can you go to the airport to pick up Linda and arrange a welcome dinner for her?"

James agreed, "I'll make arrangements for tomorrow."

Mary added, "Make sure to find a nice place, don't worry about the cost. Use my bank card."

She was about to hand him her wallet when James quickly said, "No need, I know someone who runs a pretty good restaurant. I'll take care of it."

With that, James took out his phone, intending to send a message to Charles Chen at Buckingham Palace to arrange a banquet.

But then he thought, Buckingham Palace is a surprise for his wife, so it would be better to choose another place to entertain Linda Dong.

So he sent a message to Lord Hong instead.

"I need to host a dinner for a friend. Can you arrange a high-end hotel, but not Buckingham Palace?"

Soon, Lord Hong replied, "Don't worry, Mr. Ye. I have a top-notch restaurant called Tianxiang Mansion, on par with Buckingham Palace in Jinling. I'll arrange the best diamond suite and the finest banquet for you tomorrow."

James replied with a single word, "Okay."

...

The next day, Mary spent the entire day at Dihao Group, busy handling cooperation-related matters.

James called Margaret Wang, the Vice Chairman of Dihao Group, to inquire about Linda Dong's upcoming employment.

Margaret was surprised that James knew about it. She said Linda Dong had applied for the position of Administrative Director, a mid-level management role. The group found her resume impressive and decided to hire her, with her start date set for a few days later.

James then instructed her to keep an eye on Linda Dong after she joined and report any unusual activities to him immediately.

After arranging things with Margaret, James took a taxi to the airport in the afternoon to pick up Mary's bestie, Linda Dong.

As he arrived at the airport and was about to head to the arrivals hall, a Mercedes-Benz G-Class suddenly screeched to a halt in front of him.

Robert Xiao, Mary's cousin, stuck his head out of the window, frowning at James and asked, "James, what are you doing here?"

"I'm here to pick up one of Mary's friends. What about you guys?"@@novelbin@@

James frowned, noticing that the car was filled with familiar faces, including Robert Xiao, Daniel Wang, and Barbara Xiao.

Robert sneered, "You mean Miss Dong? We’re here to take care of her, so you can leave!"

James snorted coldly, "If you want to leave, go ahead yourself."

With that, James ignored them and walked straight into the arrivals hall.

Robert was about to curse when Barbara quickly reminded him, "Brother, Miss Dong is about to arrive. Grandma reminded you to make a good impression on her! If you can make her your girlfriend, your status in our family will be unmatched. Don’t stoop to that loser’s level."

Robert immediately snapped out of it.

He almost forgot the main purpose of coming today.

In fact, welcoming Linda Dong was secondary; making a good impression and winning her over was the primary goal.

The Dong family had significant influence in Yanjing. If he could get together with her, he would rise to great heights, and the Xiao family would also benefit greatly.

So, he suppressed his displeasure towards James and hurriedly led everyone out of the car towards the arrivals hall.

At this moment, a particularly striking, young, and beautiful woman appeared in the crowd.

She had long chestnut hair, wore a white suit that accentuated her curvaceous figure, and despite wearing sunglasses, her porcelain-white skin and fiery red lips couldn't hide her stunning beauty.

Upon closer inspection, her looks were no less impressive than Mary's, each having their own unique charm.

For a moment, the eyes of the crowd waiting outside the arrivals hall were all focused on her.

Robert was already mesmerized.

Even Daniel Wang, who had come along for the fun, couldn't help but exclaim, "No wonder she's a lady from a prominent family in Yanjing; her aura is indeed different."

At this moment, Linda Dong also saw them and quickly walked over, waving her hand and saying, "Robert, Barbara, and James, long time no see!"

Robert felt a surge of excitement and quickly said, "Long time no see, Linda. You’ve become even more beautiful."

James smiled and also said, "Long time no see."

Robert then hurriedly said, "Linda, knowing you were coming, I booked a private room at the best hotel in Jinling to welcome you. Let's head over there now."

Linda glanced at James and apologized to Robert, "Robert, I'm really sorry. I already made plans with Mary and James. Let's reschedule. I'll be in Jinling for a long time, so there will be plenty of opportunities."

Hearing this, Robert felt a surge of anger. On such an important day, this loser James had to mess things up. It was infuriating.

So he deliberately said, "Linda, to welcome you, I booked a room at Tianxiang Mansion, the most famous restaurant in Jinling, with a minimum spend of 300,000! I wonder where my live-in brother-in-law has booked? If it's too low-end, wouldn't that be disrespectful to you?"
